«I have been seeing another man; a British man. We fell in love and I’m marrying him» a pale Tarik wonders whether Allah is punishing him for what he did to Catherine or not; he tries to find words to reply his fiancée but all he says is «what will we tell our parents?» [Fatamo slashes the air with a sharp laughter] «My parents already know, love. My father is actually quite pleased cause James' dad owns a brokerage house – the family business will benefit a lot from it…» Tarik nods in silence, rises from his chair «I will speak to my parents then. I wish you and your family business good luck!» and leaves the flat…

«If only we weren’t in London…back home I would have the right to give her a open hand slap on that gorgeous mouth, [sighing] these women…times are changing…how I miss Catherine…hum…that kid of hers reminds me of something…no, it can’t be [nodding]! What will I tell my father?» on his way to his car he notices a beautiful, tall Indian girl staring at his botanical green Jaguar XKR «Fancy cars, do you?» he asks her, «I’ve always loved jags…they are simply a beauty, aren’t they?» a smirking Tarik opens his car door and says, «I hope we meet again!» she replies, «If God wills!» and they part…

Six months later (after that dreadful episode at his parents’ house, when his father informed him that he had agreed with his ex-future-father-in-law-to-be that Fatamo’s marrying James would be far more beneficial to their business than her marrying him, and that he was absolutely sure that his son would find a nice girl to marry), Tarik is coming out of his office building to smoke his ciggy, when he bumps into someone (who spills coffee all over his suit) «Bugger, I can’t believe this…!», «I am so so sorry, I saw this jag passing by and...[Tarik recognises the peculiar tone of “jag” and looks up] I completely failed to see… [As he raises his head, she recognises him]…you!” «You again!?» he cries, «Me, I guess! [She replies with a smile] God willed after all…” «Hi, my name is Tarik» «Hello, I am Miriam!»…They stand there looking rather goofy (him with his suit smeared by coffee, her with the paper-cup facing downwards). The moment was intense, however something told Tarik that it was all too coincidental…

«Paul, next month we have a meeting with our brothers in Lisboa. It seems that our sister managed to arrange a dinner-party at her house and she will be there (along with her fiancé). We must set up the right strategy…which one will you take: your wife or your cookie? [Paul is perplexed] Yeah, we know about your “Mary Magdalene”, it’s ok, as long as you’re discreet…I want no troubles with the Pope!»…

«No, mom…he hasn’t opened an account for me, yet; and I am not sure if he should…[“What, Julie? Are you crazy? Any honourable man opens an account for his wife…”] …but I am not his wife, am I? [“That is only a detail! Now you are a decent Christian woman who practically lives with a man…”] A married man, mom! [“Julie, don’t complicate things and listen to me: I was happy when you were a hooker cause at least you were independent; then you disappointed me by becoming a Christian – I swear you have your father’s genes; then you made me smile again by treating me with this romantic relationship with Paul – a rich man!”]…An Opus Dei man; he’s Catholic, mother…[“Well, nobody is perfect, right? But the life he can provide you with is!”]…I’ll speak with him when we return from Church…I think he wants me to become a Catholic, mom [“Do it! You have the obligation to please your man! I gotta go…your brother is coming to introduce me his new boyfriend…I must bake a cake!”] All right…talk to you by the end of the week then [“Ok, love you!”]…Love you too, mom!”» Julie sighs while closing her eyes, behind her Paul asks, «Was that Elizabeth on the phone? [Julies startles and replies, “It was”] What a shame…! If only I had arrived a minute earlier…we could’ve spoken! How’s my cookie?» with a faint smile she answers «I’m fine…I was thinking [“Oooh, I just love when you think...”

Paul says while pinching her cheeks] that you were right: I should convert to Catholicism…» Paul screams «YES!YES!! I knew you would accept it…[Julie smiles] I have a present for you…[Paul hands her an envelope…Julie opens it and her eyes glitter] is it enough? Now you can go to any bank you like and open an account…!» Julie jumps into his arms and starts taking his tie off, then unbuttoning his shirt [Paul closes his eyes with pleasure while reciting “It is good for a man not to touch a woman…”], she kisses his neck, then takes off his pants [“The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.”]; they both fall on the floor and have sex right there…the climax is near…they are both ready [“and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your…”]…then Paul screams “LACK OF SELF-CONTROOOOOLLLL”…

“A quirky ride of romance, humor and cutting reality” – U Magazine (Romance section)

“Sexy with a twist” – Anglo-Portuguese Emerging Writer Review

    Congratulations on a delightful romp!

    A rollercoaster relational ride!

What a web we weave when first we weave to…

You get the picture :) Now lets have a more in depth look:

    You said:
    «I have been seeing another man; a British man. We fell in love and I’m marrying him» a pale Tarik wonders if whether Allah is punishing him for what he did to Catherine or not;

    I respond:
LOL Fatimo is marrying for love! But it is also good for business! LOL And Tarik turns pale! LOL To funny! Its business…but it s also personal…nicely woven.

    You said:
If only we weren’t in London…back home I would have the right to give her a open hand slap on that gorgeous mouth, [sighing] these women…times are changing

    I respond:
Fits in well with our conversations about devout Islam being shattered by western culture, hopefully this “western value” will become a universal value. I always like the way you engage with challenging issues Max.

    You said:
on his way to his car he notices a beautiful, tall Indian girl staring at his botanical green Jaguar XKR «Fancy cars, do you?» he asks her, «I’ve always loved jags…they are simply a beauty, aren’t they?» a smirking Tarik opens his car door and says, «I hope we meet again!» she replies, «If God wills!» and they part…

    I respond:
I always pictured Miriam as tall, I wonder what she was wearing? You know Valentino designs go well with a Jaguar XKR! LOL Is the “botanical green” supposed to be an Islamic subtlety? LOL I love it! And then she tags with “If God wills!” Wonderful!

    You said:
Six months later (after that dreadful episode at his parents’ house, when his father informed him that he had agreed with his ex-future-father-in-law-to-be that Fatamo’s marrying James would be far more beneficial to their business than her marrying him, and that he was absolutely sure that his son would find a nice girl to marry),

    I respond:
LOL You almost feel a twinge of sympathy for Tarik! I know just the girl for Tarik but of course she isn’t the kind of girl he could take home to meet the family! LOL

    You said:
Tarik is coming out of his office building to smoke his ciggy, when he bumps into someone (who spills coffee all over his suit) «Bugger, I can’t believe this…!», «I am so so sorry, I saw this jag passing by and...[Tarik recognises the peculiar tone of “jag” and looks up] I completely failed to see… [As he raises his head, she recognises him]…you!” «You again!?» he cries, «Me, I guess!

    I respond:
A coincidence or a plan? Hmmmmm

Is this all a picture of their future? LOL

    Was it Starbucks?

Like a romantic-comedy moment in an English novel, “gotta” love it…Not that I have read those kinds of books certainly not, I am simply speaking of what I have been told….

The way you formulated this “scene’ I similar to one in my story… LOL

    You said:
«Paul, next month we have a meeting with our brothers in Lisboa. It seems that our sister managed to arrange a dinner-party at her house and she will be there (along with her fiancé). We must set up the right strategy…which one will you take: your wife or your cookie? [Paul is perplexed] Yeah, we know about your “Mary Magdalene”, it’s ok, as long as you’re discreet…I want no troubles with the Pope!»…

    I respond:
Hillarious! Julie (Mary Magdelene since she was a call girl) is the “cookie” but Sophia (the wife) is the…“muffin” (the imagination reels)? LOL I love it Max.

I wonder who “she” is? This is an interesting thread…. And how does it change by who Paul brings with him? Is Julie still prostituting herself? Let’s read on to see

    You said:
«No, mom…he hasn’t opened an account for me, yet; and I am not sure if he should…[“What, Julie? Are you crazy? Any honourable man opens an account for his wife…”] …but I am not his wife, am I? [“That is only a detail! Now you are a decent Christian woman who practically lives with a man…”] A married man, mom!

    I respond:
Mom and daughter still grappling with life… Should the mom just busy herself with her own life? Julie can find enough trouble by herself! Mom as usual just concerned about money! What a mother! What kind of twisted mind would have created such a creature?

    You said:
[“Julie, don’t complicate things and listen to me: I was happy when you were a hooker cause at least you were independent; then you disappointed me by becoming a Christian – I swear you have your father’s genes; then you made me smile again by treating me with this romantic relationship with Paul – a rich man!”]…

    I respond:
All this from a lady in Winnipeg, what is the world coming to? LOL

It seems she is living vicariously thru her daughter. This is real life as strange as it can seem. Nice line about the father….

    You said:
An Opus Dei man; he’s Catholic, mother…[“Well, nobody is perfect, right? But the life he can provide you with is!”]…I’ll speak with him when we return from Church…I think he wants me to become a Catholic, mom [“Do it! You have the obligation to please your man! I gotta go…your brother is coming to introduce me his new boyfriend…I must bake a cake!”] All right…talk to you by the end of the week then [“Ok, love you!”]…Love you too, mom!”»

    I respond:
I think mom would prefer that Julie would be Catholic, the “born again stuff” (read stereotypical) is just to weird for her. Roman Catholicism has a lure of “mystery” to some.

I lo0ve the line about the cake! Almost made me fall out of my chair. Will Liz need to phone for help on how to bake a cake? LOL

And of course there is the gay son/brother part which is an interesting twist to the story.

All this and she needs to bake a cake! LOL LOL

    You said:
Julie sighs while closing her eyes, behind her Paul asks, «Was that Elizabeth on the phone? [Julies startles and replies, “It was”] What a shame…! If only I had arrived a minute earlier…we could’ve spoken! How’s my cookie?» with a faint smile she answers «I’m fine…I was thinking [“Oooh, I just love when you think...” Paul says while pinching her cheeks] that you were right: I should convert to Catholicism…» Paul screams «YES!YES!! I knew you would accept it…[Julie smiles]

    I respond:
Funny that Paul is so comfortable talking with Elizabeth… LOL

“Cookie” is just too good Max! :)

Now we come to an interesting cross section. I like the way you used “convert’ because that would be an accurate description. The official teachings of Roman Catholicism are very different for those of Biblical Christianity. That is not to say that there are no Christians within the Roman Catholic church, but they would be “bad catholics”.

If a person claimed to be a Bible believing Christian and then turns as a pattern of life to another belief system then they were never genuinely a Bible believing Christian.

    You said:
I have a present for you…[Paul hands her an envelope…Julie opens it and her eyes glitter] is it enough?

    I respond:
The reference to 1 Corinthians 7:4-5 was very well done Max! Excellent integration of the verses into their actions, the irony of Paul quoting a verse about sexual union between a husband and wife while having sex with Julie whom he is not married to is interesting. All of this is nicely conceived as you are putting the knife in the back of Opus Dei as Paul is a “representative” character. Julie must have had a “said faith’ and a not a “genuine faith” or perhaps she will turn away from this life of sin….

I receive the Paul of your story as a devout religious man. This for me is an example of how religion in itself cannot transform the human heart.

Of course this Paul is very different from the Apostle Paul… who was a good and Godly man… that had an extremely healthy view of sex and relationships…

Interesting formulation for the “sex scene”.

Max… Nicely tailored piece of work. You stitched it together very nicely; it is provocative; and entertaining, a propelling read… A nicely tangled web…

…I can’t wait to see what will happen next….

  2. Hello LS!!

"“Max shines as a dynamic new talent, a must read for the summer and all seasons” – The New York Thymes" - LOL LOL great reviews LOL LOL thank you so much, Mark Wolfgang at the New York Thymes LOL...

"“A quirky ride of romance, humor and cutting reality” – U Magazine (Romance section)" - thank you, Barbara Kaufman of U Magazine LOL...

"“Sexy with a twist” – Anglo-Portuguese Emerging Writer Review" - Saul Smith, you kill me...all your reviews include the word "sexy" LOL LOL...

"Congratulations on a delightful romp!" - thank you, my friend, thank you *bowing two times*!

"What a web we weave when first we weave to…You get the picture :) Now lets have a more in depth look:" - lol I do get the picture, LS :). Yes, let's see what you have to say:

"LOL Fatimo is marrying for love! But it is also good for business! LOL And Tarik turns pale! LOL To funny! Its business…but it s also personal…nicely woven." - please, I didn't say "I have been seeing a British man" LOL LOL Fatamo did LOL :)....
LOL thank you, once again *bowing*! Fatamo and her family seem to be rather pragmatic lol....*nodding*! Tarik turning pale is a touch of malice LOL....

"Fits in well with our conversations about devout Islam being shattered by western culture, hopefully this “western value” will become a universal value. I always like the way you engage with challenging issues Max." - indeed, it fits well...well, it is only natural that things change (better yet, evolve) since the children of Islam come to study here and so they take some of what they have seen on this part of the world to their countries...little by little things will change...hopefully....

"I always pictured Miriam as tall, I wonder what she was wearing? You know Valentino designs go well with a Jaguar XKR! LOL Is the “botanical green” supposed to be an Islamic subtlety? LOL I love it! And then she tags with “If God wills!” Wonderful!" - LOL really? That is interesting :). Miriam was wearing Armani black pantaloni, a Calvin Klein saggy white jersey, black high healed sandals and a black Gucci "signoria" shoulder bag; we can't forget that she was wearing sunglasses, and had her hair down (no make-up, no nail polish)...she was wearing the "Chique-fatigué" style. No, "botanical green" is just a perfect Jag colour...what is the relationship between botanical green and Islam? LOL yes, "if God wills" serves to show that she is not a Muslim and hint at the troubles that Tarik may have in case he decides to get involved with her...

"LOL You almost feel a twinge of sympathy for Tarik! I know just the girl for Tarik but of course she isn’t the kind of girl he could take home to meet the family! LOL" - LOL even I almost felt sorry for him, as I penned his fate this week LOL. LOL LOL and whom would she be?

    "A coincidence or a plan? Hmmmmm" - I don't believe in coincidences....

"Is this all a picture of their future? LOL" - lol...could be, could be...

"Was it Starbucks?" - no, since Miriam was going to waste it on his suit, it was McDonald's LOL LOL LOL...

"Like a romantic-comedy moment in an English novel, “gotta” love it…Not that I have read those kinds of books certainly not, I am simply speaking of what I have been told…." - LOL LOL LOL you have read them! How lovely...LOL LOL LOL...

"The way you formulated this “scene’ I similar to one in my story… LOL" - people would say that we had agreed upon this, but we haven't! How interesting...I am more and more convinced that you are psychic lol....

"Hillarious! Julie (Mary Magdelene since she was a call girl) is the “cookie” but Sophia (the wife) is the…“muffin” (the imagination reels)? LOL I love it Max." - LOL I am glad you did like it lol. I laughed my eyes out as I wrote this, I swear...

"I wonder who “she” is? This is an interesting thread…. And how does it change by who Paul brings with him? Is Julie still prostituting herself? Let’s read on to see" - "she" is someone Opus Dei is very much interested in, but you will have to wait for the next episode lol. It doesn't change a bit, Paul's superior just wanted to let him know that the organisation already knew about his mistress, and that he should be discreet. Paul could never take Julie to such an important event...that is Sophia's role to play....

"Mom and daughter still grappling with life… Should the mom just busy herself with her own life? Julie can find enough trouble by herself! Mom as usual just concerned about money! What a mother! What kind of twisted mind would have created such a creature?" - Lizzie doesn't have a life, I think...she clearly makes use of "Altruistic surrender" - she tries to fulfill her own needs through her child. Obviously she is a twisted mother LOL...what kind of mother would give the kind of advices she gives her child? *nodding*...

"All this from a lady in Winnipeg, what is the world coming to? LOL" - LOL LOL the world is decadent, no doubt LOL...*nodding*...only today I realised that once again Lizzie is speaking to her daughter over the phone; what does this tell us about Julie?

"It seems she is living vicariously thru her daughter. This is real life as strange as it can seem. Nice line about the father…." - yes. lol You people when something goes wrong with their children they always blame the other parent's genes lol lol....

"I think mom would prefer that Julie would be Catholic, the “born again stuff” (read stereotypical) is just to weird for her. Roman Catholicism has a lure of “mystery” to some." - I hear you...well, at least they have prettier ceremonies, don't they?

"I lo0ve the line about the cake! Almost made me fall out of my chair. Will Liz need to phone for help on how to bake a cake? LOL" - LOL LOL I had imagined something different this time: she would bake the cake, offer it to her son and his new boyfriend and then when cutting it...the knife wouldn't pierce the cake LOL LOL LOL....can you imagine the embarrassment? *nodding*...

"And of course there is the gay son/brother part which is an interesting twist to the story." - it is your own doing, my friend; I just worked within the same parameters *bowing*...

"All this and she needs to bake a cake! LOL LOL" - LOL she is sick LOL LOL....*nodding*

"Funny that Paul is so comfortable talking with Elizabeth… LOL" - Paul is a man of God: he feels comfortable talking to anyone! He is shameless LOL LOL...

"“Cookie” is just too good Max! :)" - I know, I must confess LOL LOL....

"Now we come to an interesting cross section. I like the way you used “convert’ because that would be an accurate description. The official teachings of Roman Catholicism are very different for those of Biblical Christianity. That is not to say that there are no Christians within the Roman Catholic church, but they would be “bad catholics”." - LOL *nodding*...I see, so good Catholics are not Christians, yet bad Catholics are good Christians? LOL I must disagree, my friend; good Catholics are the true Christians for they share things, they practice charity, they educate people (the best schools, in almost everywhere, are the Catholic schools for they are extremely disciplined...of course I am not talking about those where children were abused; I am talking about the good schools) etc. Of course they have messed up in the past; but who hasn't? Who is the religious group that is 100% perfect? None...

"If a person claimed to be a Bible believing Christian and then turns as a pattern of life to another belief system then they were never genuinely a Bible believing Christian." - what is exactly a Bible believing Christian to you?

"The reference to 1 Corinthians 7:4-5 was very well done Max!" - thank you, my friend *bowing*!

"Excellent integration of the verses into their actions, the irony of Paul quoting a verse about sexual union between a husband and wife while having sex with Julie whom he is not married to is interesting." - LOL that's what I thought...he doesn't have that much sex with his wife (when he does it is out of marital obligation) but Julie fulfill all his sexual needs, so in his mind Julie is his wife since his portrait of the perfect spouse includes the fulfillment of all his sexual desires and fantasies (and perhaps that is why he is supporting his lover, he transferred Sophia's role to Julie)...he is twisted like that *nodding*.

"All of this is nicely conceived as you are putting the knife in the back of Opus Dei as Paul is a “representative” character. Julie must have had a “said faith’ and a not a “genuine faith” or perhaps she will turn away from this life of sin…." - well, Opus Dei is strong enough to take the knife off its back LOL LOL...Julie is an interesting character, a "prostitute with principles" as a member of my family called her lol; she has indeed a "said faith" just like so many out there....

"I receive the Paul of your story as a devout religious man. This for me is an example of how religion in itself cannot transform the human heart." - lol you received it well, Paul is indeed a devout religious man...only with queer tastes lol. You are correct: religion itself cannot change the human heart; and it is an illusion to think that it does. Only a strong relationship with God does that; nothing else.

"Of course this Paul is very different from the Apostle Paul… who was a good and Godly man… that had an extremely healthy view of sex and relationships…" - I don't know how different they were; cause someone who was as radical as Paul (concerning sex and relationships...by the way I am still waiting for that article) seems to have activated the "reaction formation" defense mechanism - he liked sex, he was obsessed by it; but since he was "touched" by Jesus' teachings he decided to change what he thought to be an unacceptable impulse (love for sex) into its opposite; thus suggesting that good would be if men wouldn't get married "Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that." (I Corinthians 7:7).

"Interesting formulation for the “sex scene”." - lol lol indeed....

"Max… Nicely tailored piece of work. You stitched it together very nicely; it is provocative; and entertaining, a propelling read… A nicely tangled web…" - I can't find enough words to thank you for your kind review...I guess that now I will have to invite your and you loved wife for dinner :)...

"…I can’t wait to see what will happen next…." - LOL me neither :D!

    Classy comment, my friend *bow*!

  4. Hi! It has it all just like a soap opera. Business before pleasure, Business mixed with pleasure, clash between cultures, threats of violence, the well breed and the well off, intrigue and passion, materialism, back stabbing, strategy, changing faith to suit others, Opus Dei and the final climax to the story, great sex!

    Take Care,
    Peter

  5. Max, as I told LS I don't think I have to buy another fiction, I will just hang around here. BTW I love what Peter said in the comment above me, lol. So going back to your story, way too better than any book, and the good think is that I just read little and good quality. Thanks Max, saying wow and leaving your blog, Anna :)

  9. Hi Max;

I finally made it here after wading thru the snow….honestly it would probably be easier if I had sent this to you over the internet instead of hand delivering it…By the way you look lovely….

LOL yes, "if God wills" serves to show that she is not a Muslim and hint at the troubles that Tarik may have in case he decides to get involved with her...

    I respond:
LOL I can certainly picture that! The only difference I thought of was nail polish with the tips a bit shipped from using the computer so much. LOL

I was thinking of the green part of Muslims are fond of the color (or colour for those using Her Majesties English).

Max I would think a Muslim would say “if God wills” most Christians will not say that. Islam is fatalistic and Muslims use this term all the time; Allah forces you to do everything good or bad and then holds you accountable. Christians believe God is Sovereign and yet He allows us to be free agents under His Sovereignty

Nice car, there could be a good broken down scene with a Jag…

    You said:

LOL LOL She did it on purpose? In Canada it may have been Tim Hortons…. Ask Anna or Bob… LOL

"The way you formulated this “scene’ I similar to one in my story… LOL" - people would say that we had agreed upon this, but we haven't! How interesting...I am more and more convinced that you are psychic lol....

    I respond:
    LOL
No I am not psychic; I have enough trouble knowing what I think never mind somebody else! LOL Its birds of a feather and logical avenues.

    I respond:
I suppose it depends upon your point of view. Some would say that they are boring, controlling and manipulative. Plus often have nothing at all to do with the Bible. Ceremonies are worthless or worse if they are framed in anything lacking truth. Some though would say that a ceremony done in the proper way can be used to point one to God, of course the converse could also be true, they may obscure, people get so caught up in the ceremony or ritual that they miss God, tree for the forest again….

"I love the line about the cake!

    I respond:
LOL LOL What kind of cake? Could be a ice cream cake!!!

Do you bake? What are your specialties?

    You said:
"Funny that Paul is so comfortable talking with Elizabeth… LOL" - Paul is a man of God: he feels comfortable talking to anyone! He is shameless LOL LOL...

    I respond:
    Oh my how sexist :)

But since you probably mean a religious man, an Opus Dei man, a Roman Catholic man, I will quietly slink away… and let them defend themselves….

    You said:
"“Cookie” is just too good Max! :)" - I know, I must confess LOL LOL....

    I respond:
Do you own any cookie cutters? Favorite designs?

    You said:
None...

    I respond:
LOL I purposely was a bit provocative with this one since we have been dancing around the whole Roman Catholic system vs. Christianity issue.

The vast majority of Roman Catholics I know would not (indeed do not) call themselves Christian since for them that infers “born agains” Evangelicals, and Protestants.

When I say “bad Catholics” I am saying people that exist within the Roman Catholic framework but do not hold to its extra Biblical tenants, dogma, or theology. And that have turned from their sin (like all true Christians must), genuinely received Jesus as Who He is (according to Scripture from a Christian perspective) God and Savior, you become a Christian by God’s grace alone, thru faith alone (not faith infused with good works which is the official Roman Catholic teaching), in Jesus alone. Note when I refer to Roman Catholicism I speak of the official teachings not common lay perceptions. I am speaking of theological imperatives not things that can appear as “good works”. I do not doubt that people of all kinds of beliefs even atheists can do “good”, yet if you do not have “righteousness” from Christ it is not truly “good” in the Biblical sense. I am concerned with Scripture not human perceptions.

I was in no way inferring to anything to do with the horrible incidents of abuse in the Roman Catholic system. Side story: Unfortunately that system is chained into the unbiblical view that a priest cannot marry, and of course the Bible says ALL Christians are priests:

4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by human beings but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:
"See, I lay a stone in Zion,
    a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame."
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
    "The stone the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone,"
    8 and,
"A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall."
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
    - - 1 Peter 2:4-10 (TNIV)

I believe the Christian Church (of course when I capitalize Church I am speaking of true, genuine believers not an outward organization but those who are the real thing that happen to live among the false) is 100% perfect on the essentials of the faith because they are in agreement with Scripture alone. Those things that are plain and evidential in the faith, which the Church has recognized from its founding.

These kinds of things are true across many multiple denominations around the world which are made up of individual genuine Christians. I would by no means say that only those in my particular denomination are genuine Christians.

I purposely kept this short. Would you like a more expansive conversation on this?

    You said:
"All of this is nicely conceived as you are putting the knife in the back of Opus Dei as Paul is a “representative” character. Julie must have had a “said faith’ and a not a “genuine faith” or perhaps she will turn away from this life of sin…." - well, Opus Dei is strong enough to take the knife off its back LOL LOL...Julie is an interesting character, a "prostitute with principles" as a member of my family called her lol; she has indeed a "said faith" just like so many out there....

    I respond:
    LOL LOL
Very interesting what you did with Julie. I thought you may go down this avenue…

    You said:
"I receive the Paul of your story as a devout religious man. This for me is an example of how religion in itself cannot transform the human heart." - lol you received it well, Paul is indeed a devout religious man...only with queer tastes lol. You are correct: religion itself cannot change the human heart; and it is an illusion to think that it does. Only a strong relationship with God does that; nothing else.

    I respond:
    :)
Of course we would differ on the character, nature and identity of God. It seems to me that you have adjusted your position slightly over time…. Of course you may have been playing a roll to deepen the conversation at times…(I am by no means imply you were deceptive, I understand you at times play rolls to push deeper into certain topics, of course at first I originally didn’t realize that).

    You said:

    I respond:
Well we can start with the Apostle Paul as saying adultery is sin, whereas the character Paul quotes Scripture condemning the sin he is currently eagerly participating in.

The Apostle Paul never condemns sex between married partners, he actually encourages it. Yet he also acknowledges that there are some who feel gifted to remain single, they don’t burn with desire and do not feel led to marry. We must consider the context here. The Apostle Paul is writing to the Church in Corinth, Corinth was what many referred to at the time as the capital of sexual sin. There were many pagan temple prostitutes and extreme debauchery, orgies, etc. all of this was seen as worship of the pagan deities, it was seen as good by the pagans. The Apostle Paul was informing them of a Scriptural view of these things, after all God condemned the similar pagan orgies etc that took place in the Old Testament. Paul is consistent with the entirety of Scripture. Of course he is unpopular for this position as many hate Scripture and are obsessed with sex.

    :)

I think that will provide us with a lot of dialogue Max, a pleasure, and once again I truly enjoyed your story, very nice web. It is easy when we get into these deep conversations to miss the fact that it is a nice piece of writing besides all the deeper layers of concepts it can illuminate….

    Your turn….

  10. Oh Max,
You little witty writer you. I forgot what I was going to write because I got lost in LS's brilliant review. Okay, let me regroup.

    My head is tangled now.

"They stand there looking rather goofy (him with his suit smeared by coffee, her with the paper-cup facing downwards)."

LOL. I found this section hilarious because I often see people like this everyday. I don't know how they go throughout their lives in such a state, metaphorically speaking.

"I was happy when you were a hooker cause at least you were independent; then you disappointed me by becoming a Christian."

I thought prostitutes WERE Christian. You hear them say, "Oh God." all the time!

"...she kisses his neck, then takes off his pants."

I'm so confused Max, why is SHE wearing HIS pants? Are they cross dressers? (That was a joke.)

    Anyway, I have to detangle.

  11. Hello Maximus dear….

I wanted to let you know I fully endorse Alexys’ words saying: “LS's brilliant review”

This is the kind of endorsement you should place on the front cover for your upcoming novel….

    :)

Thank you for your patience you may now continue with your blogging experience….

  12. ARRRRRRGHHH!!! I can't believe it! I left a comment here yesterday but it was gone now!!!

Anyway, here's an award for you:

    Biggest Heart Award

And check out my latest post. I did finally cut own hair last night. Tell me if you think it's a big mistake or not HA HA HA HA HA...

By the way, about this post...I was said that it's VERY interesting read and the convert to Catholicism reminded me of what some of my friends did. Their boyfriends were Catholics, so they had to convert to Catholicism since the guys wouldn't go to the girls' churches. One of them is still unsure about that (not married yet), but two of them are married and they've converted to Catholicism. :-))))

Ah, my next post will be something quite different...lol...I will only post the next episode by the end of February!

  14. Hello LS!

"I finally made it here after wading thru the snow….honestly it would probably be easier if I had sent this to you over the internet instead of hand delivering it…By the way you look lovely…." - LOL LOL you are so kind to me, thanks *bowing*.

"LOL I can certainly picture that! The only difference I thought of was nail polish with the tips a bit shipped from using the computer so much. LOL" - LOL that is awful: chipped nails *Urrrgggghhh*! I saw someone like that the other day, I just felt like taking out my nail file and do her nails right there lol lol...

"I was thinking of the green part of Muslims are fond of the color (or colour for those using Her Majesties English)." - Muslims are not the only ones who are fond of green, Africans loooovvveeee their green too (except Angolans, who are fond of red) lol. And then we have Sporting fans who also love their green LOL LOL...

"Max I would think a Muslim would say “if God wills” most Christians will not say that. Islam is fatalistic and Muslims use this term all the time; Allah forces you to do everything good or bad and then holds you accountable. Christians believe God is Sovereign and yet He allows us to be free agents under His Sovereignty" - Muslims say "God willing" (that's the best translation, as I read somewhere); so I changed it a bit as to show that Miriam wants to adjust to Tarik's ambiance but at the same time she wishes to say (without saying) that she is not Muslim...
Yeah, Christians believe they are free yet their freedom will lead them to hell...how fatalistic is that?

"Nice car, there could be a good broken down scene with a Jag…" - It is a bomb!

"Does God force everything to happen?" - God designs everything.

"LOL LOL She did it on purpose? In Canada it may have been Tim Hortons…. Ask Anna or Bob… LOL" - She did it on purpose LOL... Is Tim Horton's coffee that bad? Cause McDonald's is awfull, as I am sure you so well know!!!!

"LOL No I am not psychic; I have enough trouble knowing what I think never mind somebody else! LOL Its birds of a feather and logical avenues." - LOL oh what a shame! Somehow I do not see that happening, but it's ok :)...

"Nice set up for another chapter or scene, I wonder if people want top read more of these various characters on both blogs?" - Anna expressed the wish to know how it ends...we'll see...

"I suppose it depends upon your point of view. Some would say that they are boring, controlling and manipulative. Plus often have nothing at all to do with the Bible." - oh please...not everything has to do with the bible. The Bible doesn't speak of Chuppot either, nevertheless the Jewish weddings are beautiful ceremonies too (its symbology is magnificent). As I told you once, when the Bible was written there was not our concept of marriage ceremonies: you would choose the girl you wanted, loved or needed; speak to her family and take her into your home.

"Ceremonies are worthless or worse if they are framed in anything lacking truth. Some though would say that a ceremony done in the proper way can be used to point one to God, of course the converse could also be true, they may obscure, people get so caught up in the ceremony or ritual that they miss God, tree for the forest again…." - anything done with lack of truth is worthless, be it a ceremony, a union, a job, a conversation etc...
Any ceremony or ritual was intended to help people to take conscience of how serious the event was/is.

"LOL LOL What kind of cake? Could be a ice cream cake!!!" - I remember that Lizzie doesn't know how to cook, so it would have to be a basic milk cake.

"Do you bake? What are your specialties?" - I do. I have no specialty, I do a bit of everything...

"Oh my how sexist :)" - LOL LOL you are so funny lol *nodding*...

"But since you probably mean a religious man, an Opus Dei man, a Roman Catholic man, I will quietly slink away… and let them defend themselves…" - as I said they are strong enough to do it by themselves.

"Do you own any cookie cutters? Favorite designs?" - lol Yes. My favourite design is the round-cookie design lol.

"LOL I purposely was a bit provocative with this one since we have been dancing around the whole Roman Catholic system vs. Christianity issue." - It's ok, it is good to see that now Inflammatory L is also in the house LOL LOL....

"The vast majority of Roman Catholics I know would not (indeed do not) call themselves Christian since for them that infers “born agains” Evangelicals, and Protestants." - Do you know any Latin Catholics? Cause they call themselves Christians. In fact, they consider themselves the real Christians. The sects (that's what the followers of Jesus, new-borns, evangelicals are called) are not considered real Christians by Catholics on this side of the world.

"When I say “bad Catholics” I am saying people that exist within the Roman Catholic framework but do not hold to its extra Biblical tenants, dogma, or theology. And that have turned from their sin (like all true Christians must), genuinely received Jesus as Who He is (according to Scripture from a Christian perspective) God and Savior, you become a Christian by God’s grace alone, thru faith alone (not faith infused with good works which is the official Roman Catholic teaching), in Jesus alone." - Jesus is not God. He was part of God's plan, which is quite different, but that is my belief (and of those who think alike). I know little about the Roman Catholic Church teachings but from what I know they also believe that Jesus is God and Savior; let's just mention a few points of their dogma:
God exists; the Unity of God, God is eternal; the Holy Trinity; Jesus Christ is the true God and son of God by essence; Christ is the savior and he brought redemption through his sacrifice; 3 days after his death he resurrected; he sits by God's right side; immaculate conception, Mary is the mother of God; the Church was founded by God and man - Jesus Christ; the authority of the Pope and etc...
It seems to me that Catholics believe pretty much the same as you. Let's not forget that protestants detached themselves from the Catholics because of slight differences: the power of the pope, mass in Latin (which was not understood by the illiterate), and the non-distribution of the bible to the people. And now the children of the Ecclesia Romana want to call themselves more christians than the parent house? Humans are unbelievable *nodding*! I wonder if people know that God is laughing at all of them lol...

"Note when I refer to Roman Catholicism I speak of the official teachings not common lay perceptions. I am speaking of theological imperatives not things that can appear as “good works”. I do not doubt that people of all kinds of beliefs even atheists can do “good”, yet if you do not have “righteousness” from Christ it is not truly “good” in the Biblical sense. I am concerned with Scripture not human perceptions." - I see...well, I don't believe that one is only truly good in the biblical sense by having righteousness from Christ. That is the same as saying that all other religions are (and do) not truly good (which doesn't seem sensible in a cultivated man such as yourself).

"I was in no way inferring to anything to do with the horrible incidents of abuse in the Roman Catholic system. Side story: Unfortunately that system is chained into the unbiblical view that a priest cannot marry, and of course the Bible says ALL Christians are priests:" - the view that a priest cannot marry is not unbiblical; your friend, Inflammatory P, suggested it "But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord , how he may please the Lord; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concern about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon uou, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord." (I Corinthians 7:32-35). Therefore priests are just making sure that their interests are not divided; thus follwoing Paul's advice.

"I believe the Christian Church (of course when I capitalize Church I am speaking of true, genuine believers not an outward organization but those who are the real thing that happen to live among the false) is 100% perfect on the essentials of the faith because they are in agreement with Scripture alone. Those things that are plain and evidential in the faith, which the Church has recognized from its founding." - no Church, church is 100% perfect, since it is made of imperfect men. Only God is 100% perfect .

"These kinds of things are true across many multiple denominations around the world which are made up of individual genuine Christians. I would by no means say that only those in my particular denomination are genuine Christians." - lol lol *nodding*...of course you wouldn't....:)

"I purposely kept this short. Would you like a more expansive conversation on this?" - LOL LOL I can see that. If you wish, my friend *bowing*...

"LOL LOL Very interesting what you did with Julie. I thought you may go down this avenue…" - thank you :). LOL the avenues of logics again, huh? :)

":) Of course we would differ on the character, nature and identity of God. It seems to me that you have adjusted your position slightly over time…." - my position was, is and will always be the same: The Lord is our God, The Lord is one. I always told you that only a strong relationship with Him could save us, and keep us in the right track. If you insist that God is Jesus, you can bet that we utterly differ on the "character, nature and identity of God".

"Of course you may have been playing a roll to deepen the conversation at times…(I am by no means imply you were deceptive, I understand you at times play rolls to push deeper into certain topics, of course at first I originally didn’t realize that)." - LOL LOL *nodding*....

"Well we can start with the Apostle Paul as saying adultery is sin, whereas the character Paul quotes Scripture condemning the sin he is currently eagerly participating in." - that doesn't mean that the Apostle Paul wasn't covered by the cloak of "Reaction formation" when he stressed something that had been taught for ages amongst the Jewish community.

"The Apostle Paul never condemns sex between married partners, he actually encourages it." - yes, he does; however he also says that the married couples should deprive one another (in agreement) in order to pray "Stop depriving another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control." (I Corinthians 7:5). What does one thing have to do with the other? Anglican priests, Rabbis, protestant Ministers get married and it doesn't hinder their prayers.

"Yet he also acknowledges that there are some who feel gifted to remain single, they don’t burn with desire and do not feel led to marry. We must consider the context here." - yes, like the priests in the Roman Catholic church.

"The Apostle Paul is writing to the Church in Corinth, Corinth was what many referred to at the time as the capital of sexual sin. There were many pagan temple prostitutes and extreme debauchery, orgies, etc. all of this was seen as worship of the pagan deities, it was seen as good by the pagans. Paul is consistent with the entirety of Scripture. Of course he is unpopular for this position as many hate Scripture and are obsessed with sex. :)" - you seemed to be quite obsessed by sex (as your credentials tell us) and still you seem to love Inflammatory P. Most of those who are obsessed with sex don't read the Scriptures, so how can I.P be unpopular before their eyes?

"I think that will provide us with a lot of dialogue Max, a pleasure, and once again I truly enjoyed your story, very nice web. It is easy when we get into these deep conversations to miss the fact that it is a nice piece of writing besides all the deeper layers of concepts it can illuminate…" - Thank you, my friend *bowing*. You know that your words are extremely welcome and appreciated :D! I am looking forward to our extended dialogue :D!

    Cheers

"My head is tangled now." - LOL LOL

    "LOL. I found this section hilarious because I often see people like this everyday.   24. Hi Max;

Sorry for the delay, here you go….

    You said:
Max I would think a Muslim would say “if God wills” most Christians will not say that. Islam is fatalistic and Muslims use this term all the time; Allah forces you to do everything good or bad and then holds you accountable.

    I respond:
Certainly Christians do not believe that they are going to Hell by their freewill, Christians are going to Heaven.

Now if you are actually inferring that Christians believe in the existence of Hell this is true. Do you not believe that criminals here on Earth should go to prison? Sin means that we must go to prison, a prison that God created. Out of His lavish love, mercy and grace He has personally provided a way to Him so we do not have to go to forever-prison. Yet as we are made in His image with free will He does not force us to be with Him in Heaven. God did not create puppets He created humans with free will under His Sovereignty.

    You said:
"Nice car, there could be a good broken down scene with a Jag…" - It is a bomb!

    I respond:
You know it is against the law to yell that in a crowded movie theater unless it is true?

    I respond:
"Does God force everything to happen?" Yes or no…

    You said:
"Do you own any cookie cutters? Favorite designs?" - lol Yes. My favourite design is the round-cookie design lol.

    I respond:
Round….there must be a hidden reason for this LOL
I have a friend with literally hundreds of cookie cutters…

"The vast majority of Roman Catholics I know would not (indeed do not) call themselves Christian since for them that infers “born agains” Evangelicals, and Protestants." - Do you know any Latin Catholics? Cause they call themselves Christians. In fact, they consider themselves the real Christians. The sects (that's what the followers of Jesus, new-borns, evangelicals are called) are not considered real Christians by Catholics on this side of the world.

    I respond:
    LOL
Max between you and me I think you would perceive that I have a LOT of Latin Catholics in my life! LOL

I like the way the “Latin Catholics” you describe are about this! I dislike charades that we are all the same and prefer the clarity with which they present their viewpoint. I of course disagree with their position on who is Christian, but I respect their willingness to draw the distinction. Most Roman Catholics I know (and I know quite a few) consider me a Christian. LOL LOL

    You said:

    I respond:
LOL Sorry Max I was not pushing the deity of Jesus upon you there I was simply giving the Biblical formula for how one becomes a Christian to help distinguish between how it is seen by the Roman Catholic system, in other words I wasn’t evangelizing there I was addressing the issue.

    You said:
I know little about the Roman Catholic Church teachings but from what I know they also believe that Jesus is God and Savior; let's just mention a few points of their dogma:

    I respond:
The official Roman Catholic teachings and Biblical Christianity have some similarities but there are also an enormous amount of differences. Although the Roman Catholic system acknowledges Jesus as fully God and fully man there are differences on Him as Savior, keep in mind that different meaning is often poured into words and I am speaking of official doctrine not individual believers. Also I appreciate the fact that the Roman Catholic Council of Trent condemns all Protestants, this condemnation stand to this day officially. I am just mentioning this to help us recognize that there are severe differences.

I will make my way thru your list:

“God exists; the Unity of God, God is eternal; the Holy Trinity; Jesus Christ is the true God and son of God by essence;”
    - - I believe they would say true God and true man by essence” (this would be inline with the creeds). The Bible supports these positions.

“Christ is the savior and he brought redemption through his sacrifice;”
    - - While on the face of it this may seem to line up with Scripture there is a massive difference in what is meant by these words. Let me launch that conversation with a simple question. Have you ever noticed how the vast majority of Christian Churches (Protestant) typically have a cross but Jesus is no longer upon it? While the vast majority of the time He is still on the cross in Roman Catholic churches. There is a major Biblical and therefore theological reason for this…. Any guesses?

“3 days after his death he resurrected, he sits by God's right side;”
    - - This agrees with Scripture.

    “immaculate conception”
    - - Although the Bible clearly teaches this and you know I believe this there are differences upon the emphasis on what this means which then bleeds into many other areas.

“Mary is the mother of God;”
    - - Although Mary is the mother of Jesus, and blessed among women, she is not the mother of God, Jesus has two natures, God, and man, God is eternal and Mary is not, there is no Scripture to support this larger position of Mary, Mary is also the mother of Jesus younger siblings. At this point I will not derail the conversation by starting a long list of things that the Roman Catholic system pushes upon Mary.

“the Church was founded by God and man - Jesus Christ”
    - - Jesus Christ founded the Church, it is His possession, when I use the term Church I am speaking of genuine believers not infrastructure or man made organizations. Peter si not the foundation of the Church or the first Pope.

    “the authority of the Pope”
    - - The authority of the Pope is problematic to say the least from a Biblical perspective.

    You said:
It seems to me that Catholics believe pretty much the same as you. Let's not forget that protestants detached themselves from the Catholics because of slight differences:

    I respond:
    LOL
Actually Max you missed most of the primary differences. A good start would be Luther’s 95 Thesis but that would only be a start.

The roots of the issue are severe indeed:

The manner by which a person actually becomes a Christian is at the heart of the matter. This is why I brought it up earlier.

The Bible teaches we become a Christian by God’s grace alone, thru faith alone in Jesus alone. Roman Catholic theology seems at some points to agree but in actuality there is a huge difference. One being that the Bible teaches that “being good”, “religious”, “doing good deeds” does not save you and make you a Christian. One of the simple points is that the Roman Catholic system teaches “faith infused with good works”. This point upon justification is pivotal.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, but it changes the enter direction of the conversation; it is a line in the sand. The Roman Catholic system recognizes this also therefore the separation.

From the Biblical perspective the Roman Catholic system teaches error in salvation, sanctification, authority of Scripture, and Church authority, all “deal killers”.

The Roman system still supports and openly endorses teachings that are non-Biblical in these areas: indulgences, praying to “saints”, “the perpetual virginity of Mary”, the state of moral depravity, imputation of sin, regeneration, atonement, perseverance, purgatory, transubstantiation and aligned theories to support it, confession and penance, to name a few…

Yet because the salvatory issue decides if a person is actually a Christian it is the most prominent issue that separates, but of course this even gets tangled up in authority of Scripture and the Church.

Understand I love Roman Catholic people, I know many, and my comments are not personal I am simply speaking from a Biblical perspective.

    You said:

    I respond:
LOL I understand that you would not hold that position Max… I am simply saying that is what Scripture says. If one is not in proper relationship with God then no, nothing a person does is actually “good” in the absolute Biblical sense. Does that mean that it is not a good thing to care for the ill? No that kind of thing is not what I am referring to, but I think you know that.

Keep in mind of what God thinks of all the false gods out there. Often God takes severe action to point out how evil and sinful it is to worship another god.

    You said:
I was in no way inferring to anything to do with the horrible incidents of abuse in the Roman Catholic system.

    I respond:
    LOL
The context of chapter 7 is important…
In verse 28 we are told:
But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

The Church was under persecution and suffering for its beliefs. Paul makes it clear that getting married is fine, Peter was married, and the Church are ALL priests, married or unmarried!

And the verse directly after the one you quoted says:
If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting beyond the usual age for marrying and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.

I think perhaps you were playing a bit of a fun with me there…. LOL

    I said: you said:
"I believe the Christian Church (of course when I capitalize Church I am speaking of true, genuine believers not an outward organization but those who are the real thing that happen to live among the false) is 100% perfect on the essentials of the faith because they are in agreement with Scripture alone. Those things that are plain and evidential in the faith, which the Church has recognized from its founding." - no Church, church is 100% perfect, since it is made of imperfect men. Only God is 100% perfect .

    I respond:
I said “100% perfect on the essentials of the faith because they are in agreement with Scripture alone”

There is a difference from being 100% about everything.

    You said:
Of course we would differ on the character, nature and identity of God.

    I respond:
Max I think we have differences in the character and nature of God even beyond our views on Jesus. Of course we also have differences on humans. Yet we also have some common ground. It is extremely interesting to dialogue about these things, and I enjoy learning about you and your thoughts. You are intelligent and articulate. You are a wonderful person I feel blessed to have “met”.

    You said:
"Of course you may have been playing a roll to deepen the conversation at times…(I am by no means imply you were deceptive, I understand you at times play rolls to push deeper into certain topics, of course at first I originally didn’t realize that)." - LOL LOL *nodding*....

    I respond:
Honestly you should have a warning someplace eon your blog!!! LOL

    You said:
"Well we can start with the Apostle Paul as saying adultery is sin, whereas the character Paul quotes Scripture condemning the sin he is currently eagerly participating in." - that doesn't mean that the Apostle Paul wasn't covered by the cloak of "Reaction formation" when he stressed something that had been taught for ages amongst the Jewish community.

    I respond:
And to think I thought it was a Romulan cloaking device….

Adultery is sin, that’s an easy one….

    You said:
"The Apostle Paul never condemns sex between married partners, he actually encourages it." - yes, he does; however he also says that the married couples should deprive one another (in agreement) in order to pray "Stop depriving another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control." (I Corinthians 7:5). What does one thing have to do with the other? Anglican priests, Rabbis, protestant Ministers get married and it doesn't hinder their prayers.

    I respond:
Paul is not commanding them to do this, he providing an opportunity for them. Once again the situation in Corinth must be taken into consideration. It was sex, and orgy saturated. Many had come out of that lifestyle. What Paul was speaking of actually fits in with all of Scripture since it repeatedly speaks of fasting, and fasting not just of food but other things such as sex. I would think that the vast majority of Rabbis, priests and pastors would have fasted at various times.

    You said:
"Yet he also acknowledges that there are some who feel gifted to remain single, they don’t burn with desire and do not feel led to marry. We must consider the context here." - yes, like the priests in the Roman Catholic church.

    I respond:
Who burn… At the same time there are some very nice Catholic priests…

    You said:
"The Apostle Paul is writing to the Church in Corinth, Corinth was what many referred to at the time as the capital of sexual sin. There were many pagan temple prostitutes and extreme debauchery, orgies, etc. all of this was seen as worship of the pagan deities, it was seen as good by the pagans. :)" - you seemed to be quite obsessed by sex (as your credentials tell us) and still you seem to love Inflammatory P. Most of those who are obsessed with sex don't read the Scriptures, so how can I.P be unpopular before their eyes?

    I respond:
    LOL LOL
I enjoy sex with my wife but I am not obsessed with it. I simply address the issue because of its primacy in modern culture. Also I understand the power of God in sweeping away that kind of obsession.

I am saying that the panoply of Scripture is very clear on sexual sin, not just in the sections that God inspired Paul on. God knows how we are with sex and He has provided a huge amount of information about how we are to apply or not apply sex in our lives. As it is common knowledge in western society that the Bible is against sex outside of marriage that is the perspective I am coming from….

    It has been a pleasure….

    Thwack…the ball is in your court…. :)

  25. Dear Max and Alexys;

    Yes I was listening…. LOL

    As per your comments:
"LS tends to do that: hypnotise dames."

I didn't know LS was a hypnotist. Quite a smooth one too.

    I respond:
    LOL
I have more than my hands full with my own Dame thank you! LOL

It is just my disarming orange fur that causes one to think that perhaps I am a red ruffed lemur and not some mean hearted obnoxious Bible thumper… Big orange and fuzzy hugs to you both…. LOL

    As per your comments:
"LS would say that God and Jesus are the same; but since I disagree I would say that their saying "Oh God" could mean that they simply have some kind of spirituality, right?"

Yes, I agree with you. That's two against one. I'll let you break it to LS gently. He's delicate, you know.

    I respond:
You have perhaps heard the saying “one plus God makes a majority?” Well it is wrong, God alone is a majority.

There is only one God. God is triune in nature; Jesus is both God and man the two never intermingling. There is only one way to God, thru Jesus.

I do appreciate the gentleness, I am pleased that my more “delicate” side has shone thru; I do like to be saturated with vulnerable sincerity…. Did I mention being fuzzy and orange, you have to be nice to fuzzy and orange…. Chocolate is good for softening the blow…

    You ladies crack me up….

  26. Hello LS;

"Sorry for the delay, here you go…." - no need to apologise, my friend; we all know you are a busy man :)...

"Certainly Christians do not believe that they are going to Hell by their freewill, Christians are going to Heaven." - I see...but they tell kids (and adults) that if they do x and y they will go to hell...this is fatalistic.

"Now if you are actually inferring that Christians believe in the existence of Hell this is true. Do you not believe that criminals here on Earth should go to prison? Sin means that we must go to prison, a prison that God created." - I don't believe in the Christian hell. Since I believe in reincarnation, I would say that our prison is earth, is the constant cycle of re-birth...

"Out of His lavish love, mercy and grace He has personally provided a way to Him so we do not have to go to forever-prison." - I don't agree with this by the reasons mentioned above.

"You know it is against the law to yell that in a crowded movie theater unless it is true?" - LOL LOL very cute...

""Does God force everything to happen?" Yes or no…" - LOL what are you, a district attorney or something? LOL *nodding*...

"Round….there must be a hidden reason for this LOL I have a friend with literally hundreds of cookie cutters…" - LOL round because everything in life is a cycle, everything that is related with women is round (the moon is round, the belly becomes round during pregnancy, our bodies are rounder than men's, energy moves in circles etc). Your friend really likes cookie cutters lol...

"LOL Max between you and me I think you would perceive that I have a LOT of Latin Catholics in my life! LOL" - LOL well, you seemed to be talking about a whole different kind of Catholics (perhaps Anglo-saxons) cause our Latin (Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and Latin American) Catholics consider themselves Christians.

"I like the way the “Latin Catholics” you describe are about this! I dislike charades that we are all the same and prefer the clarity with which they present their viewpoint. I of course disagree with their position on who is Christian, but I respect their willingness to draw the distinction. Most Roman Catholics I know (and I know quite a few) consider me a Christian. LOL LOL" - Well, to me, you are all Christians.

"LOL Sorry Max I was not pushing the deity of Jesus upon you there I was simply giving the Biblical formula for how one becomes a Christian to help distinguish between how it is seen by the Roman Catholic system, in other words I wasn’t evangelizing there I was addressing the issue." - LOL all right :)....

"Also I appreciate the fact that the Roman Catholic Council of Trent condemns all Protestants, this condemnation stand to this day officially. I am just mentioning this to help us recognize that there are severe differences." - despite the differences you are still Christians. It is like the differences between the several Jewish movements, nevertheless they are all Jewish...

"- - While on the face of it this may seem to line up with Scripture there is a massive difference in what is meant by these words. Any guesses?" - the commandment against idols?

"- - Although the Bible clearly teaches this and you know I believe this there are differences upon the emphasis on what this means which then bleeds into many other areas." - still, it did occur; so emphasis must be given to Mary. I think that protestants are being stubborn about Mary's issue.

"- - Although Mary is the mother of Jesus, and blessed among women, she is not the mother of God, Jesus has two natures, God, and man, God is eternal and Mary is not, there is no Scripture to support this larger position of Mary, Mary is also the mother of Jesus younger siblings. At this point I will not derail the conversation by starting a long list of things that the Roman Catholic system pushes upon Mary." - I heard that Jesus' younger siblings are in fact Jesus' cousins (cause many times in the bible cousins were called brothers, I am sure you know this well).

"Actually Max you missed most of the primary differences. A good start would be Luther’s 95 Thesis but that would only be a start." - did I? Oh my.... :)

"The Bible teaches we become a Christian by God’s grace alone, thru faith alone in Jesus alone. This point upon justification is pivotal." - humm...

"The Roman system still supports and openly endorses teachings that are non-Biblical in these areas: indulgences, praying to “saints”, “the perpetual virginity of Mary”, the state of moral depravity, imputation of sin, regeneration, atonement, perseverance, purgatory, transubstantiation and aligned theories to support it, confession and penance, to name a few…" - hummm...

"Understand I love Roman Catholic people, I know many, and my comments are not personal I am simply speaking from a Biblical perspective." - of course... I understand your comments, and I am learning a lot from them...

"LOL I understand that you would not hold that position Max… I am simply saying that is what Scripture says. If one is not in proper relationship with God then no, nothing a person does is actually “good” in the absolute Biblical sense. Does that mean that it is not a good thing to care for the ill? No that kind of thing is not what I am referring to, but I think you know that." - do you act, live and think within the biblical sense? You never sway?

"Keep in mind of what God thinks of all the false gods out there. Often God takes severe action to point out how evil and sinful it is to worship another god." - I don't think Catholics worship another god. But hey, your Catholics seem to be different from the Catholics I know...

"LOL The context of chapter 7 is important…In verse 28 we are told:
But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this." - yes, but ahead in verses 32-35 he advises men to dedicate themselves to God only, and not marry so that their interests are not divided; as I said Priests are just following Inflammatory P's advice.

"The Church was under persecution and suffering for its beliefs. Paul makes it clear that getting married is fine, Peter was married, and the Church are ALL priests, married or unmarried!" - the Catholic Church created a rule, backed by Inflammatory P's words (therefore it does not go against the Scriptures), and if one wants to belong to it he must accept the rules, it is as simple as that. If other ministers get married it is fine too, and those are their rules...

"If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting beyond the usual age for marrying and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married." - Inflammatory P offers a lot of possibilities to people...I don't see any harm in that. Still, Roman Catholic priests' marital situation is not anti-biblical.

"I think perhaps you were playing a bit of a fun with me there…. LOL" - LOL LOL I wasn't, no...as I said, P was offering people several options...

"I said “100% perfect on the essentials of the faith because they are in agreement with Scripture alone”" - not even that...

"There is a difference from being 100% about everything." - you are right...but no Christian church is 100% perfect in agreement with the Scripture either.

"Max I think we have differences in the character and nature of God even beyond our views on Jesus. Of course we also have differences on humans. Yet we also have some common ground. It is extremely interesting to dialogue about these things, and I enjoy learning about you and your thoughts. You are intelligent and articulate. You are a wonderful person I feel blessed to have “met”." - if people would agree with each other all the time, the world would be rather boring lol. Thank you for your kind words, my friend *bowing*. It is indeed a blessing to have met you :).

"Honestly you should have a warning someplace eon your blog!!! LOL" - LOL LOL LOL *nodding*...you are killing me LOL....

"And to think I thought it was a Romulan cloaking device…." - LOL LOL...

"Adultery is sin, that’s an easy one…." - I hear you...

"Paul is not commanding them to do this, he providing an opportunity for them." - P had no authority to command whatsoever...

"Once again the situation in Corinth must be taken into consideration. It was sex, and orgy saturated. Many had come out of that lifestyle. What Paul was speaking of actually fits in with all of Scripture since it repeatedly speaks of fasting, and fasting not just of food but other things such as sex. I would think that the vast majority of Rabbis, priests and pastors would have fasted at various times." - Yes, you had already exposed the Corinth context *bowing*. I am sure you are right, my friend...

"Who burn… At the same time there are some very nice Catholic priests…" - who doesn't? If you are a man, you will burn. I agree with you....

"LOL LOL I enjoy sex with my wife but I am not obsessed with it." - lol, but I used the verb in the past tense, meaning that I was referring to your past credentials. I am glad that you enjoy sex with your wife; it would be a true tragedy if you didn't...

"I simply address the issue because of its primacy in modern culture. Also I understand the power of God in sweeping away that kind of obsession." - I see....

"I am saying that the panoply of Scripture is very clear on sexual sin, not just in the sections that God inspired Paul on." - there is this book called "Conversations with God" by Neal Walsh, do you believe that his text was inspired by God?

"God knows how we are with sex and He has provided a huge amount of information about how we are to apply or not apply sex in our lives. As it is common knowledge in western society that the Bible is against sex outside of marriage that is the perspective I am coming from…." - I hear you...

"It has been a pleasure…." - the pleasure has been all mine, LS *bowing*! :)

"Thwack…the ball is in your court…. :)" - LOL I liked this one...
