“What is she up to now?” you may be wondering…
Well, this week I will pause the controversy and write about my favourite theme: women.
Please allow me to share my profound respect and admiration for all the strong Women in this world.
I respect the fact that they are proud of being the symbol of life (either because they bear it or because they help raising it); that they are the mothers of the world; I respect their assertiveness towards violent behaviour (they forgive and forget yet they will not allow themselves to fall all the time in the same pattern); I deeply respect the fact that Women are the ones who address their prayers to God the most, due to their endless, unshakeable faith (they pray for their children, husbands, family, neighbours, community and humanity).
I admire their strength (have you noticed that in times of war Women carry on with their daily tasks: by cleaning the spot where they rest, bathing their children, doing their laundry, cooking, braiding their hair etc [no matter what life goes on]); their pragmatism (Women have no time to waste on petty details cause their eyes are set on objective goals); their organisation (note that strong Women can put a house in order in a blink of an eye); their being the most brilliant economists, even when having no degree on economics (strong Women “stretch” their allowance, they make a meal for 4 people out of 2 breads) and finally I admire their power to get what they want (and with this I am not talking about whims and moods…strong Women are wise and patient enough to wait for whatever they aim at).
The world has already witnessed the performance of strong Women in the political arena (Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, Condoleezza Rice etc), it may not like it however it must recognise that their political decisions have contributed and led to change.
If I were to campaign for an European Union Lady President I would borrow the following slogan: “Sì, se puede! Sì, se puede! Sì, se puede!”
Generosity is another amazing characteristic that defines Women, with capital W. They are generous towards humanity, and this quality was the factor that led Women to put down the barriers of prejudice.
I invite you, here today, to pay homage to all strong Women in this beautiful world.
I am proud of being a Woman, a strong Woman; so…God, I would appreciate if next time You would send me back as a Woman once again.

You know I used to hate being born a woman, since I had my period early (well it was considered early for my generation) and it was such a hassle (I bled a lot - well, Mel Kaye would say this is "too much info" HA HA HA HA HA...)...but after I found Arttu, I understood more the joys of being a woman...of being respected, loved, cherished, touched, caressed...and hopefully later I can enjoy the joy of bearing his kids HE HE HE HE HE...
The joy of serving him, cooking for him, tucking him up on the sofa whenever he takes a nap, greeting him joyfully whenever he gets home...MAGNIFICENT!!! I LOVE being a woman, too!!! ;-D
I don't know if I'm strong or not (has to compare it with someone), but then again I'm glad 'coz even though sometimes I'm weak, God's strength is made perfect in my weakness HE HE HE HE HE HE...

Over-flux is rather inconvenient indeed; but in Africa ancient women would tell you that it is a sign of being extremely fertile (I am not sure if it is true, but that's what the elderly say over there) :D.

I have a HUGE admiration for women in the face of suffering, my wife is an excellent example of such a woman….And she is very organized (that may also be partly from German heritage) but I have met women that I would consider very strong and who are not so organized…the same would go for some strong men I know…
Are you suggesting that women are superior as economists, and that they are so simply because of their gender? Surly there are an equal amount of great male economists?

Babysitting is helping to raise a child, since an auntie, a friend, neighbour or a simple au-pair (a good one, not those crazy ones) transmits something that will stay with the kid for life.
Now, to answer your question: I didn't specifically mention the word children, I said that women are proud of being the symbol of life; either because they bear it or help raising it (life is a very extensive word, it can be just anything: a child, a dog, a plant, a fish etc). Strong Women mother others, that's what they do, and there is where they take they strength from.

There aren't any studies perhaps because no one has bothered to do them. But women tend to pray more than men (at the slightest crisis there they are addressing God, and praying), which is quite natural since women are more inclined to the spiritual side of life; whereas men were made to immediately find solutions and implement them. You, my friend, do not represent the majority of men; you are an exception, but still I bet you don't pray more than me.
Men pray because they were taught that they must; women pray because it comes out naturally.

About the article, I never said that strong women have all those characteristics in themselves. I was resuming the characteristics of several strong women I know; otherwise I would have to write about all types of strong women there are in the world and it would take more than one article. Strong men? Is this your way of asking me to write an article about strong men, LS :)? lol

I am sure that both female and male graduates in economics are excellent when they are so. Excellence in any job description is independent of gender; it is only dependent on the mind.

I think women are definitely strong. We can do what men can't and we don't complain like men would complain. Can I get an Amen? My mother had six kids (poor thing) and she was always working with one of us.

My mother always paid attention the details from hygiene, food, clothing, love, fun. It must have been a hand full to organize such a brood of screaming kids (all except me, the quiet, yet observant one.)

I would add Mother Theresa, Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Catherine The Great and Lassie and to that list of strong females.

LOL LOL when I was younger (around 14/15 years old) I used to tell my mom that next life I wanted to come as a man (I used to think that it was so much interesting to be a man)...but then I grew up and started to realise that we have much more power than men; we just need to use it properly (and specially know when to use it) LOL :).

"Quote of the Day - James Madison - "If men were angels, no government would be necessary."" - well, in my perspective it means that if men were angels, divine beings; no government would be needed cause God would be the One organising everything. But since men aren't they need government for two main reasons:
1- Men, as matter, don't listen to God.
2- Since they are matter they crave for powere, for things, for love, lust etc. As such they need rules, laws, and a group of people to run state matters, otherwise things would be chaotic (anarchy would rule instead).
This is my humble interpretation, but I am sure that among our fellow-bloggers there is a better interpretation; so please, chaps, bring it up! :)

LOL You are pushing buttons!!! LOL I disagree that one gender tends to be more “spiritual” than the other, or that one may pray more than the other, etc…. Plus I don’t think some study can prove the point either way…
Since I do not gamble I will not take up your bet Max, I am not keeping score on length, number, or depth of prayer…. I think you are just trying to have some fun here so I will laugh along with you….. LOL
If you do sincerely believe that men do not have a healthy prayer life similar to women then I think you are sadly mistaken… Some would say you are being sexist, I’m not saying that but some may… :)

Would you say the same of men in similar situations? Understand I am in no way trying to knock women. Women are an equal creation to men. Men are NOT created superior to women (I thought I would be very clear here, I certainly don’t want to be thought of as sexist). Yet I do agree they are not identical, the two genders are designed to be complimentary…

ReplyDeleteTheir ability to take on things such as giving birth, was placed soley in their hands as no man could endure with what women have to go through.
They are God's Greatest Gift to this world!
