The genesis of sexist remarks

I have been following closely the political battle between Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barak Obama; and while reading some interesting articles on CNN there was one that caught my attention “Is sexism less offensive than racism in Politics?”
This question, although extremely important, diverted my thoughts to another interrogation: why do people make sexist remarks?

Humans have the tendency to annoy those who show annoyance before their words and actions. It is highly known that women are the main targets of sexism (men are too, but since they react differently, the chances of becoming a strong target decrease), but from what I have observed this occurs because women are too sensitive about it, they feel insulted by mere words (and like Depeche Mode sang “words are meaningless and forgettable”), they empower sexists instead of using their brain to analyse the cause of this kinky need to utter sexist garbage…

Generally speaking, men often accuse women of being complicated, of over criticising, of never being happy, of being emotional, of gossiping…to name a few. On the other hand women accuse men of not being sensitive to their moods and feelings, of not communicating enough, of not sharing feelings and thoughts, of being disorganised etc.
I have been witnessing some other interesting “accusations” that I’d like to comment:

Most men go against what their wives tell them, why? Perhaps because they’ve been mistreated, or pressed, by women during their upbringing. But does this give them the right to punish their spouses (by unbalancing the relationship)?

Most women aggravate themselves over a misplaced pair of socks, or whatever, how come? They know that men are like that, they will never change; so why scream like a lunatic instead of reminding them to put the socks (or whatever) in the proper place?

Many men wash their hands in the kitchen; I wonder why… Perhaps they do it on purpose to annoy women; because if they find the sink clean, dry why leave it dirty and wet all over it…why must men try to prove that they are perfect swines?

The majority of women do not have the sense of timing during a quarrel (that is, they don’t know how to quit while they’re ahead), what is the possible reason for this? Maybe it is a way of punishing their fathers (who used to scream at them for anything and nothing, and since they didn’t have the courage to defy the patrio-poter, they take it out on men).

I have recently found out that men like to gossip; who on earth gave them that right? Gossiping is not their prerogative: men do not know how to gossip for the simple fact that they add vulgarity to the “facts”; they don’t know that when women gossip they are cleaning their liver, and not procuring self-gratification.

Most women are not loyal to their own gender, why? Perhaps because they feel that backstabbing other women proves them to be as rough as men, but how mistaken they are…! When it comes to fellowship men are a thousand times more enlightened than women: they defend each other, they honour the gentleman’s code without blinking an eye. As for most women, they break all the codes upon each PMS crisis…[so sad].

Many men/women are mocked for being poor sexual performers, but then why don’t those mockery activists, teach them how to provide satisfaction? I tell you why: they have taboos about sex, about their own body needs, about menstruation, precocious ejaculation, orgasms (or lack of it)…

And these taboos are the genesis of sexist remarks…

  1. I think when I first got married I didn't really understand men. My husband and I have had countless conversations about how differently we think. We have tried to explain to each other how the other gender thinks and feels. I do think we have gained a better understanding, but i don't think we can every truly understand. But I do think I have learned alot that has helped me to understand why he does the things he does, and to lighten up. And when he has trouble understanding me, I just say, "It's a girl thing" and he lets it go. I think Dave Barry deserves some kind of award for what he has written about men and women. Because although it was written in fun, it really does help us to understand.

  2. sorry, I know that post wasn't really about sexism, but I think sexist remarks stem from a lack of understanding. Just like ignorance is what makes us predjudice, sexism also stems from ignorance. :)

  3. Hey D,

I really enjoyed your comment, dear: thank you *bowing*!

I am so glad that you and your husband found a way of understanding each other :D! I like to hear that you have learned to lighten up (which is extremely important, in my opinion) :).
LOL oh, I know that "it's a girl thing" formula all too well LOL LOL...it really works lol!

I think that women and men should just relax, accept that we are different and leave it at that...! We should just focus on living and loving; but somehow humans find these issues funny and engage in these eternal, and many times fruitless, gender debates *nodding*

Thank you so much, D, for sharing your point of view with us :D!

    Cheers

  4. D,

No need to apologise, girl ;D! If you shared what you did is because maybe it will help somebody, who knows :)?

"Just like ignorance is what makes us predjudice, sexism also stems from ignorance. :) " - I hear you :)!

    Thank you, once again :D!

  5. Max,
“Is sexism less offensive than racism in Politics?”

    Excellent question.

They both show ignorance. I know they will always exist, but I don't take it to heart because ignorance is like shooting in the dark; it doesn't matter what target they hit, they just hit something - anything. It usually doesn't stop at sexism or even racism. It gnaws at the consciousness of how we are and how we could be.

"Why do people make sexist remarks?"

Another excellent question. Again their ignorance. I don't think people realize the extent of their own ignorance and they blurt out things that have been festering in their mind and heart.

Racism and sexism (ignorance) exists because it is the underlying tension between man's inhumanity to man. There will always be people who think they are better than other people and have power over them. In order to maintain that power, they will continually put others down, degrade them, rip them to shreds, and stomp on them in order to maintain dominion over them. They think by doing this, it hides their own insecurities, but instead inflates their ego and gives them a false sense of purpose.

"...from what I have observed this occurs because women are too sensitive about it, they feel insulted by mere words (and like Depeche Mode sang “words are meaningless and forgettable”), they empower sexists instead of using their brain to analyse the cause of this kinky need to utter sexist garbage…"

    Simply eloquent my dear. Kudos!

I think the lyrics that proceed the line you selected are even more key.

"Words like violence/Break the silence/Come crashing in/Into my little world/
Painful to me/Pierce right through me/Can't you understand.../
Words are very unnecessary/They can only do harm.../Words are trivial/
    Words are meaningless...

    Btw, Great song.

"Most men go against what their wives tell them, why? Perhaps because they’ve been mistreated, or pressed, by women during their upbringing. But does this give them the right to punish their spouses (by unbalancing the relationship)?"

No, there is no excuse. Haven't you heard that when women speak, men hear a high pitch tone that irritates them? (as proven in psychological testing)

"Many men wash their hands in the kitchen; I wonder why… Perhaps they do it on purpose to annoy women; because if they find the sink clean, dry why leave it dirty and wet all over it…why must men try to prove that they are perfect swines?"

Ha ha ha ha ha. What about when they drink from the milk container? Arrrrgh! :-o

"The majority of women do not have the sense of timing during a quarrel (that is, they don’t know how to quit while they’re ahead), what is the possible reason for this? Maybe it is a way of punishing their fathers (who used to scream at them for anything and nothing, and since they didn’t have the courage to defy the patrio-poter, they take it out on men)."

That is a very good and well-received point.

"I have recently found out that men like to gossip; who on earth gave them that right? Gossiping is not their prerogative: men do not know how to gossip for the simple fact that they add vulgarity to the “facts”; they don’t know that when women gossip they are cleaning their liver, and not procuring self-gratification."

Men actually gossip more than women - and over trivial things too. I once observed two men talking in a clothing shop. One was trying on a pair of jeans and he came out of the dressing room and said to his friend, "Do you think these jeans make my butt look fat?" I found it very amusing. (Okay that was only an illusion, but I imagine men to be like that when women aren't around.)

"Most women are not loyal to their own gender, why? Perhaps because they feel that backstabbing other women proves them to be as rough as men, but how mistaken they are…!"

I know, it's really pathetic too that we can't rise together as sisters.

"When it comes to fellowship men are a thousand times more enlightened than women: they defend each other, they honour the gentleman’s code without blinking an eye. As for most women, they break all the codes upon each PMS crisis…[so sad]."

    Yes. Yes. YES!

"Many men/women are mocked for being poor sexual performers, but then why don’t those mockery activists, teach them how to provide satisfaction? I tell you why: they have taboos about sex, about their own body needs, about menstruation, precocious ejaculation, orgasms (or lack of it)…"

Ditto. That and being educated by pornography. When we compare ourselves to what's in those films, we are all inadequate.

This post was very well laid Max. ;D

So who do you think IS the better candidate?

    Depeche Cheers

  6. Hello Max;

Very intriguing headline you created; and you used an image I have been considering using for awhile now, nicely tailored….

The CCN article is interesting in many ways….

The sexist signs that are spoken of are offensive. Mr. Limbaugh’s comment is a bit different as he asks a question of the reality of perceptions, he is not per say being sexist, he is actually speaking of the sexism within the country, he is pointing out peoples potential viewpoints not endorsing them with that comment. Of course he is very well known for his cutting humor. Have you ever heard him on the radio/web Max?

All kinds of people running for office have had deplorable ridiculous things said about them. President Bush is continually under attack just for his accent (need I get into the plethora of other things personal such as his faith, I am not speaking of policies here but personal attributes).

Ad hominem attacks (verbal personal attacks) are often used when a response to an argument of logic is weak or not possible. You attack the person, their character, credentials, gender, race etc instead of their ideas. These are very different things.

They can then also provide an escape from an unassailable argument, unless one is prepared for this.

Racism and sexism are both sins. The article speaks of which may be “more dangerous” leaning towards suggesting that racism is more so.

Ahhh there it feels better to be back here at the Max Zone.

Although as you said we have a tendency towards picking upon the weaker (some would say this is survival of the fittest, others would say it shows our fallen nature, yet others could say it shows both of the afore mentioned) as humans we have the ability to see that to do these things is wrong.

I believe that words are actually very powerful and the blows they strike can be life changing for good or ill, yet the power is within what you make of the substance they are communicating. That being said when I was young I was a huge Depeche Mode fan LOL

I have also experienced the male-female accusations/viewpoints. While male and female are equal as humans they are different. They are complimentary which means that when they properly come together they can be unfathomably dynamic and creative, fulfilling and actuating….

That being said it is clear that it appears across many cultures that some of these stereotypes in general are similar to reality. Yet sometimes they are simply used as ad hominem attacks. Another way of doing this is by saying a person just has “wrong thinking” it attempts to write the person off just because you can’t or will not tackle their ideas.

I am not sure that most men do go against what their wives say…even in general…. If there are general differences it probably has more to do with power threshold than with complex relational underpinnings from earlier in life, but perhaps we are both (you and I Max) showing our gender leanings here, our strengths and weaknesses. I am not completely dismissing those earlier experiences but perhaps reprioritizing them. Also one must never underestimate the hard wired competitive nature of most men. While generally perhaps women are more nurturing men are more competitive. Both are necessary and can function wonderfully in a complimentary fashion. I am very interested in learning your thoughts on this….

Also as many men are not very attuned to expressing them selves in a emotive-relative way women have them at a disadvantage so they then often turn to another approach within the power threshold. The allocation of priorities also comes into play.

Swine are actually quite clean creatures so I am not sure if it suitable to the point… LOL

By the way would you say calling men “perfect swines” is sexist? (even thought they are perfect? LOL)

Although there is no doubt that we learn about relationships from our parents I don’t think everything comes from there. Much is also from perceptions in popular culture and the crowd one runs in. Many sat they don’t want to be their parents when they grow up but end up being almost exactly the same; others manage to break the trend, what is it that helps some change the cycle?

Men have always gossiped its just camouflaged a bit differently than the way women do it (as is the case with many things).

There is a compelling difference in communication between men and women (many actually). Often when a woman comes to you with a problem they just want to tell you about it, emote, receive sympathy or empathy, but mainly just have a person listen and nod. When the women approaches the man to do this the man typically wants to “fix the problem”, they are not attuned to just listening… As a man I must say this understanding is liberating and has grown many female friends for me!!! The man thinks the woman wants a solution whereas often she just wants an ear and care….

Men are often supportive of other men’s misdeeds because they also want to get away with them. Men and women are both competitive in different way since they score keep differently. This is one of the reasons why they can often talk past one another, have a conversation where both have thought something different was communicated.

Wow your conclusion is very surprising to me….

I think that sexist comments have about as much to do with sex as rape does, not much if anything at all. It is primarily about power and communication dynamics. Men and women are different and need to learn how to facilitate those differences. That being said my wife and I have an excellent relationship, we have learned how to communicate in each others “language’ and have learn that talk without compromise is useless.

I know I have gone a bit astray into gender politics with my comments away form sexism but one often leads to the other as a I believe I have communicated.

Question: Is your conclusive remark your personal conviction?

Max a most intriguing article composed in an immensely engrossing manner!

Your diligence and creativity are splendid!

  7. Hey Alexys,

"They both show ignorance. I know they will always exist, but I don't take it to heart because ignorance is like shooting in the dark; it doesn't matter what target they hit, they just hit something - anything. It usually doesn't stop at sexism or even racism. It gnaws at the consciousness of how we are and how we could be." - indeed, my sista; ignorance leads to fear, which in turn leads to abnoxious actions and words *nodding*. People tend to hate the unknown, the obscure; and that is why I advice people to be open minded about things, but specially about themselves...so that light can invade people's hearts and cast off the shadows, hate, fear, ignorance...

"Another excellent question. Again their ignorance. I don't think people realize the extent of their own ignorance and they blurt out things that have been festering in their mind and heart." - yes, they try to expell the inner-darkness that consumes them; however the way they choose to do it is extremely disappointing (since reason is not used in this process).

"Racism and sexism (ignorance) exists because it is the underlying tension between man's inhumanity to man." - brilliantly said!!

"There will always be people who think they are better than other people and have power over them. In order to maintain that power, they will continually put others down, degrade them, rip them to shreds, and stomp on them in order to maintain dominion over them. They think by doing this, it hides their own insecurities, but instead inflates their ego and gives them a false sense of purpose." - absolutely! I couldn't have said it better :D!!!

"Simply eloquent my dear. Kudos!" - thank you, darling *bowing*!

"I think the lyrics that proceed the line you selected are even more key." - The whole lyrics are a valuable key! This song is one of my favourite Depeche Mode's....

"No, there is no excuse. Haven't you heard that when women speak, men hear a high pitch tone that irritates them? (as proven in psychological testing)" - LOL LOL LOL not only I have heard but also witnessed it LOL*nodding*. And you can always tell when they hear that high pitch tone, their face becomes reddish and pale at the same time LOL *nodding*!

"Ha ha ha ha ha. What about when they drink from the milk container? Arrrrgh! :-o" - when they drink from the milk container I feel like throwing up: it is disgusting!!! Do they know that their saliva goes back to the container? Arrrrrgh....

"That is a very good and well-received point." - thank you, girl *bowing*! I just think that women need to solve their issues, and to do that they need to overcome their Electra complex; they should stop trying to please their dads all the time, accepting all their BS and then take it out on other men (who are not the ones to blame).

"Men actually gossip more than women - and over trivial things too." - LOL LOL LOL I had never noticed it until more recently *nodding*...I was shocked!

"I once observed two men talking in a clothing shop. One was trying on a pair of jeans and he came out of the dressing room and said to his friend, "Do you think these jeans make my butt look fat?" I found it very amusing. (Okay that was only an illusion, but I imagine men to be like that when women aren't around.)" - LOL LOL LOL LOL it might happen (with gay men), you know?

"I know, it's really pathetic too that we can't rise together as sisters." - pathetic, indeed! And to think that my first reaction is to always stand up for women, even though sometimes I feel like punching them *nodding*.

"Yes. Yes. YES!" - LOL I am glad you agree, cause I know that there will be some women out there who will want to kill me LOL LOL...

"Ditto. That and being educated by pornography. When we compare ourselves to what's in those films, we are all inadequate." - pornography is just appalling (no class whatsoever). And when people are educated by it the consequences are just terrible (both physically and psychologically)!

"This post was very well laid Max. ;D" - thank you, my dear :D!

"So who do you think IS the better candidate?" - I think Obama is the best candidate for his focus. Hillary was a good promise, and she could've made history too, but unfortunately she chose the wrong strategy *nodding*.

Thank you so much for your input, Alexys; I utterly loved your comment (you are an extremely interesting, intelligent and funny person to entertain conversations with) :D!

    Mode Cheers

  8. Hello LS;

"Very intriguing headline you created; and you used an image I have been considering using for awhile now, nicely tailored…." - thank you, my friend *bowing*! "The Kiss" is a gorgeous piece of art, I fell in love with it when I was 21 (but my favourite Gustav Klimt work is one that I would never dare putting on MAX (it is too audacious).

"The sexist signs that are spoken of are offensive." - to tell you the truth I didn't find them offensive at all; do you know why? Cause it doesn't bother me. People who make offensive remarks about women's (and men's) idyosincracies, body, sexual performance and etc are people who have severe sexual problems; and all I can do is to pity them, not be bothered by them.

"Mr. Limbaugh’s comment is a bit different as he asks a question of the reality of perceptions, he is not per say being sexist, he is actually speaking of the sexism within the country, he is pointing out peoples potential viewpoints not endorsing them with that comment. Of course he is very well known for his cutting humor." - I see nothing wrong in Mr. Limbaugh's humour; and even if he were being sexist I wouldn't be bothered...

"Have you ever heard him on the radio/web Max?" - No, I hadn't even heard of him before reading CNN's article; LS. Is he interesting?

"All kinds of people running for office have had deplorable ridiculous things said about them. President Bush is continually under attack just for his accent (need I get into the plethora of other things personal such as his faith, I am not speaking of policies here but personal attributes)." - I like his accent; well, I love accents, period lol! Being exposed to jokes, gossip, scrutiny is the price of public life; everyone knows it (or at least should).

"Ad hominem attacks (verbal personal attacks) are often used when a response to an argument of logic is weak or not possible. You attack the person, their character, credentials, gender, race etc instead of their ideas. These are very different things." - I utterly agree with you. And this is why Senator Clinton is losing ground: instead of focusing on political arguments her campaign decided to irrationally attack her opponent by using squalid arguments, that have nothing to do with the question at hand: The United States of America.

"They can then also provide an escape from an unassailable argument, unless one is prepared for this." - I hear you...

"Racism and sexism are both sins. The article speaks of which may be “more dangerous” leaning towards suggesting that racism is more so." - sexism is a sin too? Would you care to provide the Scripture support for this?

"Although as you said we have a tendency towards picking upon the weaker (some would say this is survival of the fittest, others would say it shows our fallen nature, yet others could say it shows both of the afore mentioned) as humans we have the ability to see that to do these things is wrong." - I agree with you, however despicable humans never make use of that ability, do they? They seem to prefer to hide behind the mask of psychological issues rather than facing life with utter calm *nodding*...

"I believe that words are actually very powerful and the blows they strike can be life changing for good or ill, yet the power is within what you make of the substance they are communicating. That being said when I was young I was a huge Depeche Mode fan LOL" - LOL you too? I love Depeche Mode, even today (I recognise their sounds from afar lol)! Back to words now...words are ephemeral; what is said today may change tomorrow; what one presently promises may be broken in the future; what words convey may not exactly be what it seems...and when it comes to substanceless words...well, we should grasp them with our hands and blow them away (since they are meaningless: they do not contribute to our personal growth); and that is why sexist remarks do not bother me at all: they are less than nothing (and I do not waste my time on less-than-nothing-things).

"I have also experienced the male-female accusations/viewpoints. While male and female are equal as humans they are different. They are complimentary which means that when they properly come together they can be unfathomably dynamic and creative, fulfilling and actuating…." - I think that people who observe and analyse others tend to experience this kind of things LOL. I totally agree with what you said, my friend :).

"I am not sure that most men do go against what their wives say…even in general…. If there are general differences it probably has more to do with power threshold than with complex relational underpinnings from earlier in life, but perhaps we are both (you and I Max) showing our gender leanings here, our strengths and weaknesses." - I must disagree, LS; cause the main complaint women make about men is "He doesn't listen, he never does what I suggest to him..." and this is generally speaking; cause (thank God) there are very good exceptions; and men who do seek council near their wives are those who succeed in life (cause let's face it, women are powerful counsellours). Now, perhaps you are right about it having to do with "power threshold than with complex relational underpinnings from earlier life", but the latter cannot be ruled out. LOL LOL perhaps, who knows....

"I am not completely dismissing those earlier experiences but perhaps reprioritizing them. Also one must never underestimate the hard wired competitive nature of most men. While generally perhaps women are more nurturing men are more competitive. Both are necessary and can function wonderfully in a complimentary fashion. I am very interested in learning your thoughts on this…." - well, generally speaking women are more nurturing, yes, and men are more physical, competitive, absolutely; and like you I think that they complement each other; but should we spend this much time in analysing these differences? Shouldn't we just focus on accepting our physical differences, our mental equalities and qualities; and on respecting each other? Sexism seems such a waste of time to me...I am concentrated on respecting the soul behind the flesh, behind the body. Plus, when one believes in reincarnation one has to think that perhaps, in past lives, he might have been a woman and she might have been a man...so, focusing on sexism seems silly to me.

"Also as many men are not very attuned to expressing them selves in a emotive-relative way women have them at a disadvantage so they then often turn to another approach within the power threshold. The allocation of priorities also comes into play." - that is a very good analysis of it, LS. But women shouldn't expect men to express themselves in an emotive-relative fashion cause they are men, period. The problem is women want men to be women, and this want deserves a profound analysis.

"Swine are actually quite clean creatures so I am not sure if it suitable to the point… LOL" - LOL LOL yeah, but they stink LOL LOL...

"By the way would you say calling men “perfect swines” is sexist? (even thought they are perfect? LOL)" - LOL LOL no, because I didn't call them swines, I asked why must they try to prove that the stereotype is true (that men are pigs, hogs, swines *nodding*).

"Although there is no doubt that we learn about relationships from our parents I don’t think everything comes from there. Much is also from perceptions in popular culture and the crowd one runs in." - the crowd one hangs out with has some influence, but in the end the parental influence surmounts any exterior influence (and life makes sure that it does. Mind you that this goes for both good and bad influences; for example: if the parents are "good" and their child keeps society with thugs, their influence will be relevant in the kid's behaviour, but eventually his conscience will remind him that his genesis is not the thug life, and he will eventually go back to his "parents' model" of life. If the parents are "bad" and their child hangs out with Opus Dei people [lol] he might even practice the good influence for a while but behind the "good" actions will always be the distorted influence of his parental way of life).

"Many sat they don’t want to be their parents when they grow up but end up being almost exactly the same; others manage to break the trend, what is it that helps some change the cycle?" - well, not exactly the same; but the similarities can be shocking, indeed *nodding*. Nobody breaks the trend in its entirety for if you look closely, those who seem to have broken it, copy their parents in the little things (even more than those who seem to be the same as their papas and mamas). That being said, I am not sure if the cycle can be changed, LS.

"Men have always gossiped its just camouflaged a bit differently than the way women do it (as is the case with many things)." - LOL LOL LOL oh? *nodding*...well, they should've stayed camouflaged then, cause they don't know how to do it LOL...

"There is a compelling difference in communication between men and women (many actually). The man thinks the woman wants a solution whereas often she just wants an ear and care…." - very interesting assessment; but it is a misconception that women want to receive sympathy and empathy, just somebody to listen and nod when addressing another woman, cause if a woman just nods the complaining one will ask "you don't have nothing to say? How do I fix this?" thus they seek other women for solutions. I am not sure if whether men are not attuned to listen or if they are not taught to listen...
LOL LOL well, you found your own technique to know how to deal with women, it's cool....

"Men are often supportive of other men’s misdeeds because they also want to get away with them." - LOL LOL but the thing is they support each other either in good or bad; and that is what counts when talking about loyalty. They are loyal, period (it doesn't matter with what purpose).

"Men and women are both competitive in different way since they score keep differently. This is one of the reasons why they can often talk past one another, have a conversation where both have thought something different was communicated." - I am not sure about this one...

"Wow your conclusion is very surprising to me…." - lol lol...that is not surprising lol...

"I think that sexist comments have about as much to do with sex as rape does, not much if anything at all. It is primarily about power and communication dynamics." - sexist comments reveal a severe sexual issue. Rape is a violent act against any human being (not a sexual issue), and it cannot be compared (let alone put in the same sentence as) to sexism nor sexist remarks.
Sexist comments have nothing to do with power, because the people who utter them generally are the ones who have no power whatsoever. Sexist remarks dynamically communicate that the person uttering them needs serious sexual therapy, cause (in Senator Hillary Clinton's case) what is behind the comments on her cleavage? Do those people wish they could lose themselves in her cleavage, or do they have fantasies about her breasts, what?

"Men and women are different and need to learn how to facilitate those differences. That being said my wife and I have an excellent relationship, we have learned how to communicate in each others “language’ and have learn that talk without compromise is useless." - no doubt men and women are different (thank God). The only thing to learn is to chill: accept the differences, respect each other and chill. You and your wife seem to be a balanced couple :).

"I know I have gone a bit astray into gender politics with my comments away form sexism but one often leads to the other as a I believe I have communicated." - no, you made the comment that you were supposed to make :).

"Question: Is your conclusive remark your personal conviction?" - LOL shoot...is it absolutely relevant, my friend? :)

"Max a most intriguing article composed in an immensely engrossing manner! Your diligence and creativity are splendid!" - thank you, LS; you are extremely kind *bowing*!

I would like to thank you for having taken the time, from your busy schedule, to comment my article *bowing*! As per usual, I absolutely loved your words :D!

  9. Max, wow this is really good topic to talk about. I always been, since a kid, in the male dominated world, so it hasn't been so bad. When comes to remarks, I had few though, especially from managers at work, not worth even bringing up. However, I learned not to react, because, the more we react to anything, the other party knows that, it is almost like adding oxygen to the fire or more wood. I usually step back, and believe or not they will not do that again, and sometimes I even gain the respect. Talking about man not attacking or criticizing their own gender, that is true, I find lot of men complaining about their wives - and then my questions why are you still together, because it is easier to complain, lol, than go through the separation, lol. I love the way you have assembled this post, very constructively written and covers some good points, especially about gossiping - I really think that man gossip a lot, and I laugh sometimes to my hubby saying, boy you guys gossip like women, but then I stop, wait, like woman, no, I think it is worst, lol. On the other hand, I have witness too when man attack man too, and it wasn't pretty. Just like you said, woman are little more vulnerable. Thanks for sharing these great insights Max, Anna :)

  10. A very intersting discussion here. But, being a male, I am going to invoke my fifth amendment right, for fear of possibly incriminating myself. That being said, I always do what my wife tells me. Within reason. For example, I have a difficult time complying with her command, when she tells me to go screw myself. . . .

  12. Hey Anna,

"Max, wow this is really good topic to talk about. I always been, since a kid, in the male dominated world, so it hasn't been so bad." - thank you, dear :)! Well, I have always been surrounded by men too, and I never found it too bad either...men and I get along just fine.

"When comes to remarks, I had few though, especially from managers at work, not worth even bringing up. However, I learned not to react, because, the more we react to anything, the other party knows that, it is almost like adding oxygen to the fire or more wood. I usually step back, and believe or not they will not do that again, and sometimes I even gain the respect." - you are right, there's no point repeating bad remarks stemming from insecurity and ignorance. Exactly (you are wise, Anna), that is what I always say, if women would react less eventually men (and sexist women) would stop making that kind of remarks...cause you know people: they like to annoy others. I believe you, of course...I have experienced it: men don't usually throw that type of remarks in my direction cause they know that it is usuless *nodding*...

"Talking about man not attacking or criticizing their own gender, that is true, I find lot of men complaining about their wives - and then my questions why are you still together, because it is easier to complain, lol, than go through the separation, lol." - lol lol that was a good one lol. I don't see the point of complaining about spouses either; I mean, who chose him/her to get married to? *nodding*...

"I love the way you have assembled this post, very constructively written and covers some good points, especially about gossiping - I really think that man gossip a lot, and I laugh sometimes to my hubby saying, boy you guys gossip like women, but then I stop, wait, like woman, no, I think it is worst, lol. On the other hand, I have witness too when man attack man too, and it wasn't pretty. Just like you said, woman are little more vulnerable. Thanks for sharing these great insights Max, Anna :)" - thank you so much, darling, thank you :D! LOL LOL and to think that I have just found that out (that men gossip a lot); it is shocking! LOL LOL I also think they are worse cause they don't know how to do it lol, I really don't *nodding*! Yeah, when they attack other men they can be rather nasty; it is true.
You are most welcome, Anna dear :)!

But I must thank you for this amazing comment; I loved it :D! And I am so glad that you don't let them get to you ;)!

    Cheers

"A very intersting discussion here." - thank you, buddy...it is a cool one, indeed, and you are welcome to it :)!

"But, being a male, I am going to invoke my fifth amendment right, for fear of possibly incriminating myself." - LOL LOL LOL you kill me, Oswegan LOL *nodding*!

"That being said, I always do what my wife tells me. Within reason. For example, I have a difficult time complying with her command, when she tells me to go screw myself. . . . " - "within reason" is awesome lol lol lol. LOL LOL LOL indeed, that one is a hard one to comply with *nodding*!

Scott, thank you so much for your most valuable words (and above all extremely amusing, as always) :D!

  15. I just can't agree more on your thoughts....I think we are all insecure of ourselves & not satisfied with what we have but just try to run after the impossible or envy others and thats where the problem starts...we are never confident about ourselves since we think of our failures so hard & let go off, what we can really do. Somehow we just love to enjoy at others insecurities, since thats what strikes us the most & we try to lighten our vulnerabilities. Our society just needs to wake up & change the prevailing mindset to remove these insecurities and live a happier life...very very well written post!

  16. Kalyan,

"I think we are all insecure of ourselves & not satisfied with what we have but just try to run after the impossible or envy others and thats where the problem starts" - well put :).

"we are never confident about ourselves since we think of our failures so hard & let go off, what we can really do.Somehow we just love to enjoy at others insecurities, since thats what strikes us the most & we try to lighten our vulnerabilities." - yes, instead of being focused on their successes (cause nobody is a complete failure, right?) people tend to concentrate their minds on other people's lives, specially their insuccess *nodding*, which brings bitterness and consequently poisonous, rotten verbage *nodding*. To camouflage their vulnerability they divert people's attention towards other's weaknesses and make a mockery out of it.

"Our society just needs to wake up & change the prevailing mindset to remove these insecurities and live a happier life...very very well written post!" - I hear you, Kalyan! Thank you so very much *bowing*!

    Loved your comment *bowing*!

  17. Hey Max, I will come back to comment back on your comment, but I just read this short story from religious blogger friend of mine. I am not trying to promote her for that purpose, and that story may not pertain to you at all, or me, or Livingsword, but I found it really beautiful, and inspirational of what really matters in marriage, which I think you already have, and not even married. Here is the link if you wish to read: http://channelofhealing.blogspot.com/2008/02/short-story.html

    I will see you later,

  18. Hello Maximus….

    You said:
"Very intriguing headline you created; and you used an image I have been considering using for awhile now, nicely tailored…." - thank you, my friend *bowing*! "The Kiss" is a gorgeous piece of art, I fell in love with it when I was 21 (but my favourite Gustav Klimt work is one that I would never dare putting on MAX (it is too audacious).

    I respond:
    ….Philosophy, Medicine, and Jurisprudence?

    You said:
"The sexist signs that are spoken of are offensive." - to tell you the truth I didn't find them offensive at all; do you know why? Cause it doesn't bother me. People who make offensive remarks about women's (and men's) idyosincracies, body, sexual performance and etc are people who have severe sexual problems; and all I can do is to pity them, not be bothered by them.

    I respond:
I totally hear where you are coming from.

The vast majority of thing people say do not bother me (I do abhor the “n” word and I don’t like profanity, I also don’t like hearing the Lords name being abused but I recognize that other hate whom I love, but they don’t make me see red, I would be defensive if somebody insulted my wife, but not myself) but that does not mean that it is ok to say those things, that it is right. I like tenacious debate of ideas (this is free speech) I don’t like Ad hominem attacks. We have freedom not anarchy, often the two are confused by people…

    You said:
"Have you ever heard him on the radio/web Max?" - No, I hadn't even heard of him before reading CNN's article; LS. Is he interesting?

    I respond:
He has the largest radio audience in the US (HUGE, he is a very big name in US politics). Republican conservative, often very provocative, you would probably find him very entertaining Max. He uses a lot of humor but people that don’t get him take him seriously and get insulted. I am neither right nor left, democrat nor republican, not even from the US for that matter but your more democrat guests would probably dislike him quite a bit… I disagree with a fair amount of what he says but he is quite humorous….entertaining… He covers all things political.

    You said:
"All kinds of people running for office have had deplorable ridiculous things said about them. President Bush is continually under attack just for his accent (need I get into the plethora of other things personal such as his faith, I am not speaking of policies here but personal attributes)." - I like his accent; well, I love accents, period lol! Being exposed to jokes, gossip, scrutiny is the price of public life; everyone knows it (or at least should).

    I respond:
Many that are not from the southern US find southern/Texas accents make people sound dumb, even when they are not. I agree with your words about public life and celebrity, live by the sword die by the sword…. Poor Brittany…

    You said:
"Ad hominem attacks (verbal personal attacks) are often used when a response to an argument of logic is weak or not possible. You attack the person, their character, credentials, gender, race etc instead of their ideas. These are very different things." - I utterly agree with you. And this is why Senator Clinton is losing ground: instead of focusing on political arguments her campaign decided to irrationally attack her opponent by using squalid arguments, that have nothing to do with the question at hand: The United States of America.

    I respond:
    LOL

I agree with you about the flaws in Mr. Clinton’s wife’s campaign… ;)

Of course Mr. Obama is also very limited on details of how he will make change; he is selling dreams with few details. He is protectionist (is the US scared of Mexico and Canada? Of course if he cancels NAFTA we will be able to take them to the cleaners on resources so it will not be all bad! They think fuel is expensive now…. The vast majority of US oil comes from Canada not the Middle East) and seems to have a fortress mentality which I find disconcerting. He makes Bush seem very open to the rest of the world. The US economy is a disaster (which is going to hurt us soon if they don’t get it together) and it is not getting near enough air time in the debates etc…

He is an intelligent, eloquent and interesting speaker who sells dream well, he holds promise…

    You said:
"Racism and sexism are both sins. The article speaks of which may be “more dangerous” leaning towards suggesting that racism is more so." - sexism is a sin too? Would you care to provide the Scripture support for this?

    I respond:
    *smile*

    This verse alone covers everything:

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
    - - John 13:34 Jesus speaking

But here is something that you may find more direct:

But now you have arrived at your destination: By faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God. Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe—Christ's life, the fulfillment of God's original promise.

In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ's family, then you are Abraham's famous "descendant," heirs according to the covenant promises.
    - - Galatians 3:25-29

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
    - - Ephesians 4:3

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.
    - - Colossians 3:10-11

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
    - - Colossians 3:13-15

He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "human beings."
    - - Genesis 5:2

Scripture is clear that the body of Jesus (the Church) is one body, although we play different rolls (as there are different parts of the body), or positions we are one, every person is to be loved and respected, sexism is not loving or respectful, we are to be servants one to the other. We are to lovingly submit to one another, this precludes sexism.

There are a lot more verses but I think this communicates the idea very well…

    You said:
"Although as you said we have a tendency towards picking upon the weaker (some would say this is survival of the fittest, others would say it shows our fallen nature, yet others could say it shows both of the afore mentioned) as humans we have the ability to see that to do these things is wrong." - I agree with you, however despicable humans never make use of that ability, do they? They seem to prefer to hide behind the mask of psychological issues rather than facing life with utter calm *nodding*...

    I respond:
Yes we do have that fallen tendency but God can transform people….

    You said:

    I respond:
I had their band logo on one of my jackets! They have a cool sound….

Words convey information, how we use words is important, how I use them to communicate with you is important, and how you receive them is also important. Now if I pack words with bad stuff and you can see thru it and not be harmed that still does not make what I did with the words right.

If we are going to say bad words have no power then we will have to say the same about good words (you are the one that appreciates opposite’s right? LOL).

    You said:
"I have also experienced the male-female accusations/viewpoints. While male and female are equal as humans they are different. They are complimentary which means that when they properly come together they can be unfathomably dynamic and creative, fulfilling and actuating…." - I think that people who observe and analyse others tend to experience this kind of things LOL. I totally agree with what you said, my friend :).

    I respond:
I salute my fellow observer and analyzer….

    You said:

    I respond:
    LOL

"He doesn't listen” he is listening but they communicate in different languages so he does not understand, plus the power threshold comes to play, and they keep score differently. I note once again that it is very important for a female to feel listened to.

Max I wonder if the more Latin approach of Portugal as compared to the more egalitarian culture here also make a difference…

    You said:

    I respond:
    LOL

We are talking about the topic since you wrote an article about it LOL

I think trying to weigh which is worse sexism or racism is off the mark, they are both wrong. Everybody should be treated with respect and love. However we are not very good at those things.

One thing I dislike is when people (not you Max) talk about reverse racism or reverse sexism. Forget this reverse stuff all racism and sexism is wrong.

If these things were not an issue they would not make it into the market place of ideas. Therefore I have no problem with people bringing them up. There are worse things people could spend time on discussing….

    You said:
"Also as many men are not very attuned to expressing them selves in a emotive-relative way women have them at a disadvantage so they then often turn to another approach within the power threshold. The allocation of priorities also comes into play." - that is a very good analysis of it, LS. But women shouldn't expect men to express themselves in an emotive-relative fashion cause they are men, period. The problem is women want men to be women, and this want deserves a profound analysis.

    I respond:
Men and women are both humans but very different and it is wrong to expect one gender to emulate the other; that is hardly complementary…

To the woman he (God) said,
    "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you."
    - - Genesis 3:16

    You said:
"Swine are actually quite clean creatures so I am not sure if it suitable to the point… LOL" - LOL LOL yeah, but they stink LOL LOL...

    I respond:
    They taste good….

    You said:
"By the way would you say calling men “perfect swines” is sexist? (even thought they are perfect? LOL)" - LOL LOL no, because I didn't call them swines, I asked why must they try to prove that the stereotype is true (that men are pigs, hogs, swines *nodding*).

    I respond:
Exactly! Well done, I did that on purpose, very similar to the way they tried to imply Rush was sexist!

    You said:

    I respond:
This brings us to the conversations you have been having with some of your other guests…

One of the biggest issues is many kids spend little time with their parents. Parents have a larger impact ton their kids than culture or friends if they are properly involved.

I can give you a great illustration. My Church is quite large, we have a children’s program with many hundreds of children in it. Most of these children are not from the Church, their parents do not attend the Church and the family does not come. Yet they ALL want the Church to teach morals and values, and they are enormously thankful for this. Many do start coming to the Church because of this. (This actually comes back to the absolute truth conversation but I won’t get into it LOL). It is rather shocking when you spend time thinking about this…

    You said:
well, not exactly the same; but the similarities can be shocking, indeed *nodding*. Nobody breaks the trend in its entirety for if you look closely, those who seem to have broken it, copy their parents in the little things (even more than those who seem to be the same as their papas and mamas). That being said, I am not sure if the cycle can be changed, LS.

    I respond:
I think there can always be a danger of falling into the trap but some can escape it, I have seen this first hand, God is awesome!

    You said:
"There is a compelling difference in communication between men and women (many actually).

    I respond:
Ahhhh now you hit upon it, IF they ask then you can help, but till then listen, and care…. Men often want to leap into action, they want to do something. Of course we are speaking generally here; personality, depth of relationship, culture, world view, knowledge etc come to play….

    You said:
"Men are often supportive of other men’s misdeeds because they also want to get away with them." - LOL LOL but the thing is they support each other either in good or bad; and that is what counts when talking about loyalty. They are loyal, period (it doesn't matter with what purpose).

    I respond:
I don’t think I concur, men are not as united as you surmise, perhaps once again a cultural thing?

    You said:
"Men and women are both competitive in different way since they score keep differently. This is one of the reasons why they can often talk past one another, have a conversation where both have thought something different was communicated." - I am not sure about this one...

    I respond:
    I think this is a key point…..

    You said:

    I respond:
We are in complete agreement that was my point about sexism and rape, neither are about sex.

They are about power and dominance. Those who do not have arguments that can beet Mrs. Clinton are attacking her gender (they are weak she is strong). Those who may attack Mr. Obama’s race will show they are weak and cannot attack his ideas. Ad hominem attacks are typically used by those who cannot defeat an idea, so instead they attack the person. Now some of course do these things to spit in the face of convention and decency, they don’t want anybody telling them what they can do….

In politics at times it is used to distract from other issues. In actuality a sexist or racist statement may actually push with of these contestants over the top with a backlash against the comments….

I wouldn’t want to be running against Mr. Obama as some are looking to make a mountain out of a mole hill about race…. (Kind of similar to Survivor! LOL)

    You said:
"Men and women are different and need to learn how to facilitate those differences. That being said my wife and I have an excellent relationship, we have learned how to communicate in each others “language’ and have learn that talk without compromise is useless." - no doubt men and women are different (thank God). The only thing to learn is to chill: accept the differences, respect each other and chill. You and your wife seem to be a balanced couple :).

    I respond:
Respect of course is very important; I go beyond this to say love. CG and I are very complimentary, we are thankful to have the Father in our lives…

    You said:
"Question: Is your conclusive remark your personal conviction?" - LOL shoot...is it absolutely relevant, my friend? :)

    I respond:
    LOL

It is the most important part…email me… LOL

Very interesting conversation Max, a delightful pondering…..

  20. Hello LSimus....

"….Philosophy, Medicine, and Jurisprudence?" - this one is also beautiful, but not as audacious as the one I am referring to...

"The vast majority of thing people say do not bother me (I do abhor the “n” word and I don’t like profanity, I also don’t like hearing the Lords name being abused but I recognize that other hate whom I love, but they don’t make me see red, I would be defensive if somebody insulted my wife, but not myself) but that does not mean that it is ok to say those things, that it is right. I like tenacious debate of ideas (this is free speech) I don’t like Ad hominem attacks. We have freedom not anarchy, often the two are confused by people…" - you are right, not being bothered by words doesn't mean that we think that it is ok to say them. I don't like ad hominem attacks either, because they reflect some lack of intelligent, logical arguments and maturity.

"He has the largest radio audience in the US (HUGE, he is a very big name in US politics). Republican conservative, often very provocative, you would probably find him very entertaining Max." - LOL LOL are you saying that I am provocative? LOL....

"He uses a lot of humor but people that don’t get him take him seriously and get insulted. I am neither right nor left, democrat nor republican, not even from the US for that matter but your more democrat guests would probably dislike him quite a bit… I disagree with a fair amount of what he says but he is quite humorous….entertaining… He covers all things political." - I see...well, as long as he doesn't make personal attacks he is entitled to say whatever he wants, right?

"Many that are not from the southern US find southern/Texas accents make people sound dumb, even when they are not. I agree with your words about public life and celebrity, live by the sword die by the sword…. Poor Brittany…" - we have a similar accent here in Portugal (up in the north) and the people who have it are not stupid at all since the majority of the country's wealth is generated up there lol. Well, she chose her path....*nodding*....

"LOL I agree with you about the flaws in Mr. Clinton’s wife’s campaign… ;)" - *nodding*...and what a shame it was....

"Of course Mr. The vast majority of US oil comes from Canada not the Middle East) and seems to have a fortress mentality which I find disconcerting." - I think that there are times when a president must be a bit protectionist; I mean all over the world companies are taking their plants abroad leaving thousands of unemployed people who will lean on the state for support - this implies funds exit from the State and less taxes coming in. I don't think he is limited on details, it is a political/rhetoric strategy, he should not compromise himself...cause suppose he wins the elections, gets to the White House and then for some reason can't comply with his promises? The people is tired of empty promises, so if he doesn't get into details he has more space to manoeuver...

"He makes Bush seem very open to the rest of the world. The US economy is a disaster (which is going to hurt us soon if they don’t get it together) and it is not getting near enough air time in the debates etc…" - he attacks President Bush where he should: the war in Iraq. He cannot attack him all the time: people wouldn't take him seriously.

"He is an intelligent, eloquent and interesting speaker who sells dream well, he holds promise…" - LOL you sounded like Senator H. Clinton LOL...what is wrong with selling dreams? The United States of America is the land of Dreams, so he is only invoking the spirit of his country, and reminding the American people what America is all about: hard work and accomplishment. And he is asking Americans to join him, roll-up their sleeves and together make their country rise from the ashes, like the Phoenix.

    "*smile*" - LOL LOL LOL----

""A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. - - John 13:34 Jesus speaking" - is this the time where I should look for hidden messages lol? Cause sexism is not a question of lack of love, it is a question of lack of respect at the most; now this sentence is perfect for racism. Racism, yes, is lack of love for one another.

"In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ's family, then you are Abraham's famous "descendant," heirs according to the covenant promises.- - Galatians 3:25-29" - this one is more appropriate, but this is Inflammatory P's opinion, not God's words stating that it is a sin to make division between male and female; therefore sexism is not a sin, but yes a reproachable behaviour for its lack of respect.

"He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "human beings."- - Genesis 5:2" - yes, but it doesn't say that it is a sin if male and female utter sexist jokes against each other....it only says that they are both God's blessed creation.

"Scripture is clear that the body of Jesus (the Church) is one body, although we play different rolls (as there are different parts of the body), or positions we are one, every person is to be loved and respected, sexism is not loving or respectful, we are to be servants one to the other. We are to lovingly submit to one another, this precludes sexism." - there are couples who love each other, yet they do not respect each other. On the other hand there are couples who respect each other, yet they do not love each other. Love and respect are two different things, and one is not subordinated to the other. I may respect an individual but not love him.

"Yes we do have that fallen tendency but God can transform people…." - I hear you...

"I had their band logo on one of my jackets! They have a cool sound…." - you what? LOL LOL...aah, youth *nodding*. Indeed they have, my friend :).

"Words convey information, how we use words is important, how I use them to communicate with you is important, and how you receive them is also important. Now if I pack words with bad stuff and you can see thru it and not be harmed that still does not make what I did with the words right." - perhaps; but if it doesn't bother me and you realise that your bad words do not affect me, you will eventually change strategies and find a suitable form of pulling a reaction off me....

"If we are going to say bad words have no power then we will have to say the same about good words (you are the one that appreciates opposite’s right? LOL)." - LOL LOL I agree...good words may have no power either, you are correct. Look at diplomacy, at politics...most of the times good words are used, bad words are utterly avoided and look where it takes us.

"I salute my fellow observer and analyzer…." - *bowing*!

"LOL "He doesn't listen” he is listening but they communicate in different languages so he does not understand, plus the power threshold comes to play, and they keep score differently. I note once again that it is very important for a female to feel listened to." - speaking under a male point of view, huh?

"Max I wonder if the more Latin approach of Portugal as compared to the more egalitarian culture here also make a difference…" - LOL LOL from what I have been listening to on CNN your society is not that egalitarian, it is an illusion. At least here in Portugal Latins don't hide it (of course it doesn't make it right, but the hypocrisy is less).

"LOL We are talking about the topic since you wrote an article about it LOL" - lol aha...I wrote this article upon a request made by one of my readers, LS :).

"I think trying to weigh which is worse sexism or racism is off the mark, they are both wrong. Everybody should be treated with respect and love. However we are not very good at those things." - I hear you...

"One thing I dislike is when people (not you Max) talk about reverse racism or reverse sexism. Forget this reverse stuff all racism and sexism is wrong." - I agree...

"If these things were not an issue they would not make it into the market place of ideas. Therefore I have no problem with people bringing them up. There are worse things people could spend time on discussing…." - I have no problem discussing them either, but it is a waste of time...just like those silly studies and debates on who is smarter: men or women? And then they conclude that men are smarter LOL LOL *nodding*....

"Men and women are both humans but very different and it is wrong to expect one gender to emulate the other; that is hardly complementary…" - I agree....

"To the woman he (God) said, "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."- - Genesis 3:16" - of course I don't think that husbands rule over their wives. God knew that women ruled over men but wanted men to live in a complete illusion lol...God knew that women had a powerful weapon that proved whom ruled over whom LOL LOL...*nodding*...

    "They taste good…." - I don't eat it...

"Exactly! Well done, I did that on purpose, very similar to the way they tried to imply Rush was sexist!" - Rush?

"One of the biggest issues is many kids spend little time with their parents. Parents have a larger impact ton their kids than culture or friends if they are properly involved." - I have witnessed kids who spent little time with their parents, and when they grew up they became exactly like their dad and/or mom.

"I can give you a great illustration. It is rather shocking when you spend time thinking about this…" - it is sad when parents transfer their responsibilities over to an institution, but I am glad that at least those kids have a place to be and learn stuff. However, I can guarantee you that some of their parents' traits will be reflected on them in the future. Genetics, Karma are factors that one cannot be excluded from the equation.

"I think there can always be a danger of falling into the trap but some can escape it, I have seen this first hand, God is awesome!" - I hear you...

"Ahhhh now you hit upon it, IF they ask then you can help, but till then listen, and care…. Men often want to leap into action, they want to do something. Of course we are speaking generally here; personality, depth of relationship, culture, world view, knowledge etc come to play…." - I definitely hear you on this one :).

"I don’t think I concur, men are not as united as you surmise, perhaps once again a cultural thing?" - no, not a cultural thing; it is widely known, LS...perhaps your keeping company with the ladies deprived you of this kind of experience....

"I think this is a key point….." - you make it seem like most men are stupid; that they don't understand women's language...I don't agree...

"We are in complete agreement that was my point about sexism and rape, neither are about sex." - we are not in complete agreement, LS; we are in incomplete agreement: sexism is the reflection of a repressed sexuality, thus is it about sex.

"They are about power and dominance. Now some of course do these things to spit in the face of convention and decency, they don’t want anybody telling them what they can do…." - I agree that ad hominem attacks equal weakness and poor intelligence; but attacking Senator H. Clinton is not attacking her gender cause I am a woman and I do not have her ankles, my cleavages are not the least like hears; hell... I do not look like her at all; so those attacks are aimed at Senator H. Clinton only, and that may well represent an excuse to perspire repressed sexual fantasies.

"In politics at times it is used to distract from other issues. In actuality a sexist or racist statement may actually push with of these contestants over the top with a backlash against the comments…." - it is up to the person to rise above any sort of sordid comments about one's character.

"I wouldn’t want to be running against Mr. Obama as some are looking to make a mountain out of a mole hill about race…. (Kind of similar to Survivor! LOL)" - as people can see nothing affects Senator Obama, he is above all things that do not pertain the race to the White House. And this is the perfect presidential candidate cause he is showing that nothing distracts him from his goal.

"Respect of course is very important; I go beyond this to say love. CG and I are very complimentary, we are thankful to have the Father in our lives…" - Well, love is something that doesn't exist in most couples and yet their relationship works, Why? Because they respect each other.
    Amen!

"LOL It is the most important part…email me… LOL" - LOL LOL LOL.....are you writing a book about me or something lol? :)

"Very interesting conversation Max, a delightful pondering…" - indeed it was, my friend! Thank you for this delightful moment *bowing*

    Cheers

  21. Hmmm...VERY INTERESTING post as usual, my dear Max. ;-D My brain is too tired again to comment much.

But I just wanna say I LOVE men who respect women and who go out of their ways to make their women happy. :-))))

  22. Very interesting post Max, I being a male married for just past 29 years will tell you I still don't understand the opposite gender, but I have learned to enjoy the differences between us and know most of the times when to speak and when to listen. I only wash my hands in the kitchen when I have done major painting for my wife and have to clean the tray and remove paint from my person.

I have learned one very valuable lesson in the 29 years we've been together, that is never under any circumstances wallpaper with your partner.

  24. Hi Max ! Ineresting topic ! I'm not sure I entirely agree with your conclusions though ! I've always just accepted that men and women are different but don't think that's a problem. I figure that's how we complement each other, both in the home as husband and wife and parents, and in the workplace. Most of the time, especially at work, I don't even register whether the person I'm intereacting with is male or female ! I accept their opinions as they are and decide for myself whether I agree or not.

Maybe it's because I'm a female in a traditionally male dominated job. But I've never had a problem working well with male nurses, and vice versa.

Anyway, thanks for popping by so regularly !

Have you got married yet ?

  25. Max you said: 'I also think they are worse cause they don't know how to do it lol, I really don't *nodding*! Yeah, when they attack other men they can be rather nasty; it is true.' - I have to laugh on this one, you are right, hope all men reading here don't mind, lol. You know my father likes to gossip, he usually does not talk much, but when he has stories, oh you better be prepared for the long run, lol. Once I went to church, and we end up going early, but the time I left church, I know who is who, who did what, and everything else, lol.

Kidding aside, I think Max you heard this expression, 'work with you competition...' something like that, so I say - if we all work together we all should be fine.

Max, have yourself a good weekend, and we will talk again, Anna :)

  27. I always enjoy going through the comments to your posts. They always present a happy exchange of individuals who think. It is unfortunate that our world is not made up more of them. All kinds of prejudice stem from one thing, really, and that is ignorance, as delirious said. As to the differences between men and women, that's a given. That's what makes love so important. Despite these tremendous obstacles to a smooth relationship, love is the great equalizer. Marriages work because the two individuals involved choose love over the negatives. Once again, Max, your insights have stimulated us, you fans, to think and make choices. Bravo! On another note, I have a tag for your back in my site. Hope you find time to join. Blog on!

    Interesting observations.

I think you should read some more psychology books. They really open you up to the world of human mind.

I'm currently reading The Life Cycle COmpleted and Freud.

  29. Hillary's been getting a lot of sexist remarks because she ignites lots of negative passions, which are expressed with sexist epithets. Even the most reasonable opponent of her policies may be tempted to call her a bad name. And it's not just her policies but her general snake-like demeanor and rather transparent cutthroat-ness that drive this hate.

But anyway, what drives sexist remarks? I think the surge of radical feminism (the notion that "women are greater than men" rather than "women are equal to men" to make up for the centuries of apparent "women are less than men") has brought on a rise in counter-sexism. The passion of those many quasi-feminists like Hillary who use the plight of their sexually oppressed ancestors and the protest posters of sincere colleagues for personal gain and other ulterior motives has been met by the equal passion of sexist remarks made by those who feel there's no other way to say what often must be said. It's unfortunate.

Ah, got that off my chest. Yeah, I didn't make one about my song, but hopefully I'll be done with it soon. That is, of course, when I'm no longer sick, and I get my voice back. :D
