Misused Sex

I shall be direct & brief...

Sex is a wonderful thing. When done with love it becomes divine.
Two bodies intertwined in passion; the shawl of love sanctifying the blessed act; energies flowing; moist promising life; the lock that forever bonds a loving couple.

But then we have plain sex. An act based on pleasure for the sake of pleasure only; irresponsibly done and disposed of as if it were a commodity.
Two bodies intertwined in lust; the shawl of hedonism desecrates what should be a sacred act; energies flow only to block; moist promises death; the lock between a penis & a vagina bonds not.

People use sex to belittle and humiliate themselves.
When someone makes use of sex to get a job, a promotion or climb the social ladder, that individual is telling, not only the world, but mainly itself that it is incapable of finding a job through its own intellectual merit; a promotion through its creativity, intelligence, and hard work; and/or climb the social ladder by the respect gained through an honourable conduct (yes, money alone means nothing in certain circles: one’s demeanour is highly important).

A human being who uses sex in such fashion is acknowledging that it doesn’t respect and thinks not highly of itself.

On the other hand, doesn’t this being hold the right to do with its body whatever it wishes? The first answer that comes to my mind is: Yes, it does. But then I think to myself that even though it has the right to do whatever it wishes, it doesn’t mean that it is correct to do so.
Let’s delve into this: two people work in a company (or any other institution) and person A is dynamic, highly creative, it invests a lot of working hours, it knows the meaning of team work, it is a natural born leader, it is the apple of any company’s eyes; person B is a regular worker, sufficiently creative, it works from 9 to 5, it is slightly socially challenged, it is practically a median employee. When the time came to promote one of them, person B was the selected one.
(N.B: person B sleeps with the CEO)

I ask, what is it like to be inside the mind of these people? When they look at the poor competent colleague who missed its promotion because he/she is honest...do they think “You are an idiot. You should’ve slept with the boss, before I did: thank God you didn’t though”?
What are their conscience’s last thoughts before they fall asleep? Do they have any conscience at all?
Negative sex overshadows good sense and sensibility.

  1. Hi Max! This is another interesting topic.

"Negative sex overshadows good sense and sensibility." So many people have already lost respect because of negative sex. It's sad that what should be divine is being used not just to earn a living and climb the ladder but for other interests as well.

Thanks for stopping by sweetie. Sorry I am late. Been experiencing intermittent connection lately. Happy Wednesday! :)

  2. You make a great point! Sex is beautiful and is part of our human experience that transcends the physical and touches the soul when it is done in the optimum situation. As you stated some people choose to use sex as a tool. There is no right or wrong, however those who get promoted for who they have sex with usually burn out pretty quickly and the true talent rises to the top.

  3. It's my guess that people who use sex for ulterior goals and motives are the same desperate people who, lacking a more positive self-esteem based on other factors, will do anything to achieve an end. And that would include lying, stealing, embezzling, and other kinds of deceptive and manipulative behavior.

I would hate to have such devious behaviors accrue to my psychic "bank account."

I've missed you Max, and hope to get back to blogging and commenting on a more regular basis.

    Time will tell... :)

Hope all is well and you are happy!

    Thanks for another thoughtful post!

  4. Ciao Max,

The misuse of sex is a common practice on work places and it serves obscure purposes: job promotions, sperm theft, revenge or simply addiction. Sadly there's nothing one can do for, in a free society, even idiosyncrasies must be respected.

  10. Hi Max,

The misuse of sex is a reality that can lead to a dangerous spiral, for one might end up harmed.
When it comes to sex people are just not able to tell good from improper: satyr, nymphomania, self-inflicted pain, instant gratification and low self-esteem - these are only a few examples that may drive one to abuse sex thus misusing it.

It is not preventable (it will never end) for there are men and women willing to feed the beast, after all: it's their body.

Hey Max, this was a tough one, yes :)? However we enjoyed it: complimenti!

I am glad you mention satyr (since people seldom mention it - apparently it is easier to accuse women of nymphomania; when there are men who suffer from the same issue).

"It is not preventable (it will never end) for there are men and women willing to feed the beast, after all: it's their body."

    *nodding in agreement*...true.

  13. hmmm...once again couldn't agree with you more...It is the source of Creation and that is so heavily mis-used for some momentary pleasure and cheap fickle minds and today it has become much more taboo than ever before...but I guess it wasn't meant to be that way and somehow the beauty of it is getting lost!

  14. Another lovely, provocative question from you and also hard to answer - but since it you, I'll try:

In my opinion (and experienced), when having sex, you give something of yourself to your partner - something very personal - in mutual trust to be cherished. If you waist that to achieve something, you've lost more than you might gain

¨Btw: I'm sorry I have not been around that much lately, but have been working hard to find a way so that we could meet. Now It's official and I've planned hard for it: Oslo Blog Gathering 2010 - I do hope you can come and also encourage your other blog friends to participate!

  15. I simply can't understand "users". By users, I mean people who would do whatever it takes to achieve their goals including cheating, abusing others and using others.

Sex has sometimes become a currency of exchange and a power tool and I don't get that either.

  16. Hi Max! I've never known anyone that slept their way to the top. Of course there are always rumours of it going on, but around my neck of the words, you only get promoted by this method, "It's not what you know but who you know" or if you're above the fold line, you have a good chance of moving upwards!

For those that sleep their way to the top, this saying applies to them eventually, we hope, "Every dog has its day!"

  17. Max:

Well now I might have to take issue with this post---just a little.

Firstly, if you're saying that sex is only for deep-seated, sacred love and should only be engaged in for propagation of the species, I say no. Sex is a beautiful thing and should used as a recreation as well as an expression of love.

As your post continues, it gives me the impression that you are against a person using sex to promote themselves to a higher position in the company. I agree with that, of course. After all, we all can't be endowed with an attractive body and a sensual sense of mind. So "no" on the sexual favors. Merit alone should rule the workplace. But, realistically, there will always be people who use their sexual prowess to promote their agendas. So the best we can do, I think, is what we have done in the past. That's is to provide strict codes of behavior for the workplace. We also have to keep in mind, however, that we want people to meet, date and fall in love. So we have to make sure that we don't place any obstructions to nature's natural course. I perfectly understand that it's a tough balance.

When speaking of pure sex for sex's sake, I do believe that sex is best between lovers, I'll give you that, because that's where you can reach the other person on a truly intimate level. When two people care for each other deeply and can allow themselves to open up and to each other, a truly amazing experience can be afforded them. The trouble comes, though, when one or both of the lovers holds back. When that happens, you may as well bow out, because nothing good will come of it.

As to prostitution and other forms of sexual entertainment, I have no problem with any of that stuff. Why not give people an outlet for their urges? If things can be properly controlled to prevent crime and the spread of disease, then it seems to me to be a victimless crime. Sex is part of our existence. So should we arrest the prostitute who is trying to make a living, or the consumer who is trying to satisfy his or her sexual urges? I think not on both counts--live and let live.

So, Max, you have posted another thought provoking post. You are truly a master thinker.

    Just my two cents.

    Happy trails.

In Portugal we call that the "C factor" (Cunha: when you reach the top, or any position, by influence of an acquaintance).

  22. Hi Swu :D!

"Well now I might have to take issue with this post---just a little."

    All right...let's listen...

"Firstly, if you're saying that sex is only for deep-seated, sacred love and should only be engaged in for propagation of the species, I say no. Sex is a beautiful thing and should used as a recreation as well as an expression of love."

No, I am not saying that sex is only for the propagation of the species (I said "moist promising life" meaning that it may or may not generate life. Sex is good for recreational purposes, but love should always be present when seeking this recreation).

"As your post continues, it gives me the impression that you are against a person using sex to promote themselves to a higher position in the company. I agree with that, of course. After all, we all can't be endowed with an attractive body and a sensual sense of mind. So "no" on the sexual favors."

Yes, that's correct. LOL LOL Swu, even if endowed with an attractive body and sensual sense of mind it is not ethical to get a promotion not based on production but because one slept with the boss...it sends a clear message about what that person thinks of itself.

"Merit alone should rule the workplace. But, realistically, there will always be people who use their sexual prowess to promote their agendas."

    I agree with you...

"That's is to provide strict codes of behavior for the workplace."

Aaah, codes will always be broken...so that is not the answer. Besides, I do not agree with some codes that companies impose like "co-workers cannot engage in relationships" I mean, if they are in the office 14 hours/day how are they supposed to meet a significant other? Workers produce best when they are emotionally happy.
The solution may be to teach people from an early age that sex is not to be misused. Re-education of the mind...may be the solution.

"We also have to keep in mind, however, that we want people to meet, date and fall in love. So we have to make sure that we don't place any obstructions to nature's natural course."

    Hear, Hear!

"When two people care for each other deeply and can allow themselves to open up and to each other, a truly amazing experience can be afforded them."

    This was beautifully said!

"As to prostitution and other forms of sexual entertainment, I have no problem with any of that stuff. Why not give people an outlet for their urges? If things can be properly controlled to prevent crime and the spread of disease, then it seems to me to be a victimless crime."

Aaah, Swu...I see that you haven't read my article on Prostitution (http://maxcouti.blogspot.com/2009/04/hookers-and-strippers-legal-and-moral.html)...I have nothing against it (as long as it is done by free will and not forced; and not by under-aged people).

"Sex is part of our existence. So should we arrest the prostitute who is trying to make a living, or the consumer who is trying to satisfy his or her sexual urges? I think not on both counts--live and let live."

Thank God it is. No, we shouldn't. And governments have a silly stance towards these sex-business, specially because it will never end.

"So, Max, you have posted another thought provoking post. You are truly a master thinker."

lol Thank you, my friend *bowing*. Aaaaahhh, you are too kind (I wish I were the blushing type of gal, but I am not lol), thank you :D!

Swu, thank you ever so much for your two cents...I love conversing with you :D!

What a wonderful statue the artist made of you and your husband…You have beautiful skin…you could be in one of my stories! I have always pictured you as a bit more petite but perhaps it is your perfect figure… ;)

Now to the task at hand…or more appropriately sex sex sex….. *turning on fan* not me the cooling fan silly…have to cool things down for the snow dear so the Olympics will be ok…

Nice play on words…of course only God is truly Divine…

I have observed gender politics at work…I have also had sex offered to me at work…but sex is so easy to get…anybody can get sex…there are so many willing partners…

If there is no God then everything is allowable...might makes right, survival of the fittest…we are then only animals in heat…plunder and pillage for tomorrow we die…if there is a God then everything changes…If there is a perfect holy God then He is the standard, He created and owns the universe including us, if He loves us then He will want the best for us which is to conform to His standard of perfection…

He created us with freewill so we sin or do His will freely. There is no reason to be “moral” if there is no God. Our conscience is one of the clues that there is a God…Plus He whispers to us to help us because He loves us…

God created sex, as our Creator He has expressed to us the precious use of this incredible gift…

…as a follower of Jesus I will say sex is great and God is awesome…

All sex outside of a marriage commitment between one man and one woman militates against God, such sex outside of God’s will is treason against God…sin…and the penalty for treason is…

The word verification is…and I kid you not: perahell
