Ethics: the Help and its Best

How much appreciation should be demonstrated towards someone who works under another one’s decree? Plenty, I’d say.

The Help Vs its Best

I find it rather distasteful when someone mistreats and disrespects the help.

People should never forget what servants do for them: clean their bathroom(s) [and God only knows, that when they are unfortunate enough to work for a total pig, what it all encompasses]; clean their mess [when they drink and spill it all over; when they regurgitate the contents of their stomach; when they step into the house/flat with their muddy shoes etc]; clean their house; wash their clothes and underwear [I say, everybody should wash their own underwear – for the moment, I’ll excuse myself from explaining why]; put up with their rude children; wash their car; take care of their garden; keep them company; secure their family etc…Servants organise the life of the people they work for; they witness their miseries; they make sure that their home is the place that they long to return to after a long day at work. The help is the living proof of patience, kindness and sense of loyalty. To serve is not at the reach of just anybody.

Is it ethical to despise such human beings? Absolutely not.

The Employee Vs the Employer

It is utterly hideous to humiliate, to be unfair towards, to treat roughly, to scorn an employee, or someone working under one’s direct/indirect orders.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but an employee is someone who contributes highly to a company’s success, since it helps generating its wealth. Have you ever noticed what happens when an employee is mistreated by his boss? He will either do his job poorly (even if it will cost his job – but how much will it cost the company?); or he will not apply his full potential into the business; he will resent his chief/boss/best and sabotage his position in the company, or even seek for a personal vendetta etc. While frustrated, traumatised, inferiority-complex-sufferer bosses take it out on their employees, or people working under their command, the company is losing ground in the market; mistakes are being overlooked; failure knocks (and somebody will eventually open the door to it)...
Is it ethical to be despotic towards employees? No, it is not.

The courage to admit that an employee is an asset is to conduct oneself accordingly to the principles of corporate Honour and Social Responsibility.

The People Vs the Government

When a Premier/President is elected to serve the people, it is despicable to serve his own agenda.
To seat in a High Office means to be conscious of the fact that his job is to serve the best interests of those who voted for him; signifying this that the people is to be heard, to be respected, to be served; for after all they are the ones contributing for his salary, travel expenses; for the management of the country etc...Serving the nation does not denote using public money to create institutions to employ the Premier/President’s friends and relatives; it does not mean using tax money to fund personal expenses; it does certainly not refer to deplete the natural resources of his country to benefit his cronies. When serving as the Premier/President one is to be humble, and to avoid making mistakes that will tear apart the country’s social tissue.

Is it ethical to betray the confidence of voters? Oh no, it is most certainly not.

  1. Well done max, excellent post , gives us something to think about again.

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the Prophets."

    Matthew 7:12

That kind of sums it up, in practice I try to treat all my staff with respect, you get better moral and therefore you get more work accomplished, they are the workers that accomplish the tasks.

As far as the help, lol, never had any, totally can't relate to that except that they should be treated like part of the family as far as I'm concerned, especially if they were to wash my underware, lol

I won't even go to the political part, as all politicians lie and cheat and politics suck, actually I think a politician must have dropped me on my head as a child, lol, In my 53 years I have seen so much backtracking on promises, so much deceit, and it comes from all political parties, man gets power man gets corrupt, sucks but it is true.

  2. “How much appreciation should be demonstrated towards someone who works under another one’s decree? Plenty, I’d say.” - I agree!!

“I find it rather distasteful when someone mistreats and disrespects the help.
People should never forget what servants do for them” – I have a real problem with the word “servant.” It’s probably just me. I’d prefer “assist.” According top the dictionary, the word “servant” is being used correctly “In a person’s employ to perform house work……”

“Is it ethical to despise such human beings? Absolutely not.” - This goes back to the days of slavery, where servants were mere chattel, not even regarded as human.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but an employee is someone who contributes highly to a company’s success, since it helps generating its wealth.” - It goes beyond that; an employee helps their immediate boss look good to his/her immediate boss.

“Have you ever noticed what happens when an employee is mistreated by his boss?” - Everything you said here was spot-on. My wife is a teach in a middle school and she just got a new principal who seems to take pleasure in treating the teachers as less than human. She was brought in to bring up the scores (everything is measured by student standardized test scores.) Do you think the teachers are motivated to make the principal look good?

But in too many cases, “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” And when a new leader get into “power” he sees the “possibilities” and, even if he wasn’t flawed going in, there is a pretty good chance that he will be when he sees what is “possible.” Too bad there are no “absolute fool-proof” ways of judging someone’s character before he/she even runs for office. It always seems to come down to which candidate is the lesser of two evils. This time in the US election, I do believe that I can identify the lesser of the two evils (but I have been wrong before……………….once, about 20 years ago, I think.)

I am tired of “old-white men” who have no idea how to connect with middle class (whatever that is) running this country. Sorry to get off subject, but I just had to express that.

This was a great post on ethics and character. Another winner by Max.

BTW, this is going up at SB. Every Tuesday, you will head the list, I have no doubt.

  3. Hi Bob :D!

"Well done max, excellent post , gives us something to think about again."

Thank you, Lord of the Astropics *bowing*! I am glad you liked it :D!

«"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12»

    Amen to that.

"That kind of sums it up, in practice I try to treat all my staff with respect, you get better moral and therefore you get more work accomplished, they are the workers that accomplish the tasks."

It does sum it up. People should put themselves in other people's shoes.
Yes, exactly! When the staff is respected and feel appreciated, they work better, they give more of themselves!

"As far as the help, lol, never had any, totally can't relate to that except that they should be treated like part of the family as far as I'm concerned, especially if they were to wash my underware, lol"

LOL LOL LOL I hear you! Underwashing is a serious matter....

"I won't even go to the political part, as all politicians lie and cheat and politics suck, actually I think a politician must have dropped me on my head as a child, lol, In my 53 years I have seen so much backtracking on promises, so much deceit, and it comes from all political parties, man gets power man gets corrupt, sucks but it is true."

Whoah, talking about being disappointed at politicians! But you know what? I do understand you, politicians have invested a lot time showing us that they cannot be trusted. Hopefully, we will have a new generation of politicians and things will change...who knows?

Bob, thank you so very much for your incredible input! It is always great to hear your thoughts :D!

  4. Hi Mel :D!

    "I agree!!"

    *bowing*....

"I have a real problem with the word “servant.” It’s probably just me. I’d prefer “assist.” According top the dictionary, the word “servant” is being used correctly “In a person’s employ to perform house work……”"

Well, you are not alone. Here in Portugal we have a word for "servant" which is "criado" (it has been used for centuries), but now it is not politically correct to say "criado" we have to say "empregado doméstico" (domestic employee), "assistente doméstico" (domestic assistant) or "Gestor doméstico" (Domestic Manager)...

"This goes back to the days of slavery, where servants were mere chattel, not even regarded as human."

A smear in human history *nodding*! Sometimes I wonder what I would've done if I ever lived in those shameful times *nodding*....

"It goes beyond that; an employee helps their immediate boss look good to his/her immediate boss."

LOL so true, Mel! More of a reason to treat an employee with respect and dignity.

"Everything you said here was spot-on. My wife is a teach in a middle school and she just got a new principal who seems to take pleasure in treating the teachers as less than human. She was brought in to bring up the scores (everything is measured by student standardized test scores.) Do you think the teachers are motivated to make the principal look good?"

No. They can't be motivated to make a principal who disrespects them, and their, work look good. They might even plot to bring her down...
However the students wellfare must be kept in mind at all times.

"Oh Max, you are so naive (LOL). Idealistically, that is the goal."

LOL I am, am I not? LOL LOL...

"But in too many cases, “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” And when a new leader get into “power” he sees the “possibilities” and, even if he wasn’t flawed going in, there is a pretty good chance that he will be when he sees what is “possible.”"

For most cases this is true. And if we think of African leaders...ooohhh...needless to discuss it *nodding*! But there a few exceptions: for example, here in Portugal, when our present President (Prof.Cavaco Silva) was a Premier back in the 80's/90's he didn't engage in corruption, he didn't use public money to benefit himself nor his buddies, he didn't make use of his influence to help his relatives nor his friends...nothing (he is known as the cleanest politician in the post-Revolution of 1974 era); do you know what they called him? A Fascist, because Salazar (our fascist leader during the 30's/40's/50's/60's) was the cleanest politician in the Dictactorship era (he never took advantage of his position to benefit himself nor his family, and he enriched the nation).
Now, our socialist governments...those have parties after parties if you know what I mean...

"Too bad there are no “absolute fool-proof” ways of judging someone’s character before he/she even runs for office. It always seems to come down to which candidate is the lesser of two evils. This time in the US election, I do believe that I can identify the lesser of the two evils (but I have been wrong before……………….once, about 20 years ago, I think.)"

Indeed, it is impossible to test a candidate's character before he/she runs for office.
I am not that negative about politics; I find it to be a beautiful science, and although most politicians have been showing us their worse side (same old, same old), I still believe that in the future we will be pleasantly surprised by a whole new breed of political men and women.
You have been wrong before? Well, who hasn't?

"I am tired of “old-white men” who have no idea how to connect with middle class (whatever that is) running this country. Sorry to get off subject, but I just had to express that."

It's ok, Mel...I totally understand you! And I understand why you would be tired of that sort of candidates. The middle class has been misunderstood, misrepresented and misled for too long. It is one of the most important factors of any economy.

"This was a great post on ethics and character. Another winner by Max."

    Thank you, Mel *bowing*! :D

"BTW, this is going up at SB. Every Tuesday, you will head the list, I have no doubt."

Thanks, buddy :D! You beat me again...

Mel, thank you ever so much for this absolutely amazing comment and conversation (I love politics, although I still have a lot to learn about it) :D!

  5. Max,

Your naiveté is showing again: "I still believe that in the future we will be pleasantly surprised by a whole new breed of political men and women."

I grew up on the 60s and 70s, the "peace generation", where you never trusted anyone over 30. We were going to change the world, "make love not war."

Well look what happened when we took over. Is it better? After all we were a "whole new breed of political men and women."

I don't mean to be negative or cynical, but I do believe that history has proven me right. Now I don't deny that there is always that diamond in the rough (like yourself), and we are always hoping and praying that the next one will him/her. I have that hope for Obama. We will just have to wait and see.

As far as Portugal goes, I am sorry to say that I do not know much about your political system of its history. I just know that the 2 days I spent in Portugal, about 30 years ago still stands out in my memory. Both the people and the scenery are MAGNIFICENT!

  6. Mel,

"Your naiveté is showing again: "I still believe that in the future we will be pleasantly surprised by a whole new breed of political men and women." "

LOL perhaps, I am...but still, I hang on to my belief!

"I grew up on the 60s and 70s, the "peace generation", where you never trusted anyone over 30. We were going to change the world, "make love not war.""

LOL oh my God...I wouldn't be trusted back then LOL! Oh...people who made plans on changing the world while smoking grass...it was easy to see that the change would occur, yes; but not exactly the way they'd expect...
That slogan "make love not war" is the an absurd...men make love and war; they don't know how to separate the two...war in is human blood.

"Well look what happened when we took over. Is it better? After all we were a "whole new breed of political men and women.""

It is better than before, Mel. You guys did change things: thanks to your generation, women are far more better than they are today; human rights gave a huge step (which gave the chance to a certain candidate to run for the white house today - this was your doing); the world is better (in comparison to the past).
However, it is not exactly what you may have planned....but it is better.

"I don't mean to be negative or cynical, but I do believe that history has proven me right. Now I don't deny that there is always that diamond in the rough (like yourself), and we are always hoping and praying that the next one will him/her. I have that hope for Obama. I don't think you are being cynical, like you say: history keeps proving us right. But history has also taught us that are eras of common sense, of righteousness! *Bowing*...
I understand your hope for Senator Obama...Europe also has that hope in him.

"As far as Portugal goes, I am sorry to say that I do not know much about your political system of its history. I just know that the 2 days I spent in Portugal, about 30 years ago still stands out in my memory. Both the people and the scenery are MAGNIFICENT!"

It's ok, Mel...you are forgiven lol ;)! 30 years ago...well, I was already here (I arrived, from Mozambique, in my mom's arms in August 1977)...you liked it? Then you would love it NOW!!! It is even more gorgeous!!

  7. Max,
There is reality and there is hope. We all must hold onto the hope and try, in reality, to bring the hope into reality. We will all be disappointed far more often than rewarded. But when we are rewarded it so outshines the disappointments that it is all worthwhile.

Remember my moto "Never, Never, Never Give UP."

I would love to come back to Portugal one day.....we'll see??

Because of you, I so look forward to Tuesday.

    THANK YOU for being there!!!!

  9. Hi Max,
I am so happy that it's Maxday! :D

I think the help should always be treated with the utmost kindness and respect. Just because they are doing a menial task doesn't mean one can treat them unjustly. These are the people who are privy to such intimate secrets that they could potentially ruin their employer's reputation.

"It is utterly hideous to humiliate, to be unfair towards, to treat roughly, to scorn an employee, or someone working under one’s direct/indirect orders."

It is hideous to treat ANYONE like that whether they work for you or not. Honor up as well as down. Treat everyone with dignity and your life will be rich.

"Have you ever noticed what happens when an employee is mistreated by his boss? He will either do his job poorly (even if it will cost his job – but how much will it cost the company?); or he will not apply his full potential into the business; he will resent his chief/boss/best and sabotage his position in the company, or even seek for a personal vendetta etc."

The film Swimming With Sharks is a fine example of the above. (and I can't say that I blame the employee for what he did.) As an employer, you are responsible for the well being of your employee during the hours in which they are in your employ.

"Is it ethical to be despotic towards employees?"

Never. Leona Helmsley fired so many people because of her temper and her perfectionism that it probably cost her more to keep hiring than firing.
Leona was said to have shouted obscenities at busboys, waiters or chefs before firing them simply for having dirty fingernails. There was one particular incident where Leona purportedly chased an executive down the corridor after he told her he was quitting. Frequently, Leona allegedly fired maids during room inspections if there was as even a piece of lint on the floor or an uneven lampshade. She had such a bad reputation that she and her husband were attacked by an intruder while they were sleeping. She was stabbed in the chest and her husband was also attacked - they both survived.

"When a Premier/President is elected to serve the people, it is despicable to serve his own agenda."

Unfortunately that is the nature of the beast and it is quite despicable. How many times have we witnessed a politician changing his agenda once in office? Too numerous to count. They often win the office on a false platform and false promises like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

We never know how much of our taxes are going towards paramours, gambling, hedonism or deviant behavior. (I don't think we want to know.)
As you can surmise, I have a lot of confidence in politicians. LOL.

"Serving the nation does not denote using public money to create institutions to employ the Premier/President’s friends and relatives; it does not mean using tax money to fund personal expenses; it does certainly not refer to deplete the natural resources of his country to benefit his cronies."

    Preach it my sista!

"When serving as the Premier/President one is to be humble, and to avoid making mistakes that will tear apart the country’s social tissue."

    Brilliant analogy.

"Is it ethical to betray the confidence of voters?"

No it isn't. But the question is are politicians ethical in general. History tells me that they are not. My gut tells me that human nature rears it's ugly head.

    Excellent dissertation my dear. Bravo.

    Ethical Cheers!

  10. Hi Lady A :D!

"I am so happy that it's Maxday! :D"

    Merry Maxday, darling :D!

"I think the help should always be treated with the utmost kindness and respect. Just because they are doing a menial task doesn't mean one can treat them unjustly. These are the people who are privy to such intimate secrets that they could potentially ruin their employer's reputation."

Absolutely!! You have addressed exactly what I was hoping someone would address (pause for music: "It had to be you! It had to be you...I've wandered around, and finally found somebody who...." end of pause)! The help is a precious asset that not only puts one's life in order, but also can ruin his/her best's life.
Look at all the examples in the Royal family: the buttlers that sold their secrets to newspapers, who wrote books, the latest news were of a buttler who worked for Queen Elizabeth and is a pedophile (this made people wonder a lot)...

"It is hideous to treat ANYONE like that whether they work for you or not. Honor up as well as down. Treat everyone with dignity and your life will be rich."

True. But some people take pleasure in humiliating those who work under their command: it is like that person never found itself in a position of power, and once it gets there he begins to have this ghastly demeanour of mistreating others *nodding*...
It is like they are covered by the cloak of vanity, arrogance, contempt, I don't know....

"The film Swimming With Sharks is a fine example of the above. (and I can't say that I blame the employee for what he did.) As an employer, you are responsible for the well being of your employee during the hours in which they are in your employ."

I don't think I'be watched that one yet. I fully agree with you in gender, number and degree, girl!

"Never. Leona Helmsley fired so many people because of her temper and her perfectionism that it probably cost her more to keep hiring than firing."

    Of course!

"Leona was said to have shouted obscenities at busboys, waiters or chefs before firing them simply for having dirty fingernails."

She is crazy!! Isn't it simpler to just send them to a manicure? It would cost less...

No wonder she was stabbed! Did they ever found out who was the "saint" that did it? Most probably a cousin of someone who worked for her *nodding*....

"Unfortunately that is the nature of the beast and it is quite despicable. How many times have we witnessed a politician changing his agenda once in office? Too numerous to count. They often win the office on a false platform and false promises like a wolf in sheep's clothing."

So sad, really *nodding*! And that is not the essence of serving in a public office...
And you know what it is even more disappointing? That the ones who are good politicians may end up killed.

"We never know how much of our taxes are going towards paramours, gambling, hedonism or deviant behavior. (I don't think we want to know.)
As you can surmise, I have a lot of confidence in politicians. LOL."

LOL I can see that LOL! However you are right: we just don't know! But if we knew, there would maybe be a civil war!

  11. Hello Max….

    Another eloquent Maxism….

For me as a Jesus follower I have a sublime respect for the servant leadership model of leadership a leadership for all people no matter their “station”….either “servant” “employee” etc or leader/employer etc….

This manner of leading is exemplified in Jesus…

3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
    6 Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
    as something to cling to.
    7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
    - - Philippians 2:3-11 (NLT)

This allows all of us to be servants and leaders in community when all embrace this unfathomable sublime humility…..

Perhaps a more day to day example will be helpful…..

5-8Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the real master, Christ. Don't just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ's servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you're really serving God. Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free.

9Masters, it's the same with you. No abuse, please, and no threats. You and your servants are both under the same Master in heaven. He makes no distinction between you and them.
    - - Ephesians 6:5-9 (The Message)

So I do my best to embrace servanthood being a slave to the Lord of humility receiving His leadership in my life being transformed into the kind of leader He grows thru me…

I pray my sins step aside to receive this servant leadership from the King of Glory…

  12. I may be turning into a bitter old woman (who knows!) but what drives me crazy lately is people's lack of ethics.

Ethics can be very basic. Like saying "thank you" for a service, or just "playing fair" at work.

But it's a one way street of a lot of people... sad. Quelle connerie! (I'm just helping you to practice your vocabulary! :D )

  13. Hi Max,

    "Merry Maxday, darling :D!"

    Same to you my dear.

"Absolutely!! You have addressed exactly what I was hoping someone would address (pause for music: "It had to be you! It had to be you...I've wandered around, and finally found somebody who...." end of pause)!"

LOL. I love the musical interlude. Of course, it HAD to be me. ;D

"Look at all the examples in the Royal family: the buttlers that sold their secrets to newspapers, who wrote books, the latest news were of a buttler who worked for Queen Elizabeth and is a pedophile (this made people wonder a lot)..."

Yes, those positions offer lots of temptation to be disloyal. I am actually surprised that more don't fly the coup or spill the beans. What about that man who wound up in the Queen's bedroom - and no on knows how he got there?????

"True. But some people take pleasure in humiliating those who work under their command."

Yes, they are called agents! I knew someone who worked for a talent agent and everyday he would complain how his boss (a female agent) would physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually harass him. It finally got to be too much and he quit.
I think women may possibly be worse than men.

"I don't think I'be watched [Swimming With Sharks] yet. I fully agree with you in gender, number and degree, girl!"

You have to see the film to witness the severity of it.

"She is crazy!! Isn't it simpler to just send them to a manicure? It would cost less."

Maybe she was manic depressive? (still crazy though)

"No wonder she was stabbed! Did they ever found out who was the "saint" that did it?"

Saint? ROFL. The stabber was never found and she still reverted back to being the Queen of Mean.

"And you know what it is even more disappointing? That the ones who are good politicians may end up killed."

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.

"...we just don't know! But if we knew, there would maybe be a civil war!"

    Definitely an uprising.

    "Can I get an "Amen"?"

    Amen my sista!

"In general, no...they are not. But there are a few exceptions."

    Agreed.

"And thanks for this amazing comment/conversation, your input is most valued :D!"

    As is yours.

I have been following the stream between you and Mel and I nominate you both for President and Vice President of the US. You can decide who gets what position. Flip a coin like they usually do. You both would make a welcome change for the rhetoric we have been hearing from all candidates. Please consider it.

    Presidential Cheers!

  14. Oh dear Max,
Please forgive me for not joining in on this one.

I am simply exhausted. And have been all week.

I am going to take it real easy over the next couple of days and be ready for next Tuesday.

  15. Hello LS...

    "Another eloquent Maxism…."

Why, thank you so much *bowing*!

"For me as a Jesus follower I have a sublime respect for the servant leadership model of leadership a leadership for all people no matter their “station”….either “servant” “employee” etc or leader/employer etc…"

That is so nice of you, darling! I suppose you are referring to....

"This manner of leading is exemplified in Jesus…"

Yes, of course you were referring to Jesus...

"This allows all of us to be servants and leaders in community when all embrace this unfathomable sublime humility…"

Many Christian leaders didn't (and some still don't) understand Paul's words nor Jesus' teachings, and their actions (through history) are the proof of that lack of comprehension...

"Perhaps a more day to day example will be helpful….."

    Shoot...

"9Masters, it's the same with you. No abuse, please, and no threats. You and your servants are both under the same Master in heaven. He makes no distinction between you and them. - - Ephesians 6:5-9 (The Message)"

    Indeed, indeed.

"So I do my best to embrace servanthood being a slave to the Lord of humility receiving His leadership in my life being transformed into the kind of leader He grows thru me…"

    I see...

"I pray my sins step aside to receive this servant leadership from the King of Glory…"

    Amen.

LS, although I was expecting a more laic point of view; I do thank you for this fantastic comment :D!

    Cheers

  16. Hey Zhu,

"I may be turning into a bitter old woman (who knows!) but what drives me crazy lately is people's lack of ethics."

You, bitter? Never! I agree with you: lack of ethics also drives me mad!

"Ethics can be very basic. Like saying "thank you" for a service, or just "playing fair" at work."

Absolutely! It is a very simple concept, and people just seem to choose to be unethical: it's preposterous! How can one prefer to do wrong over doing right? I am obviously missing something *nodding*...

"But it's a one way street of a lot of people... sad. Quelle connerie! (I'm just helping you to practice your vocabulary! :D )"

Sad indeed, girl! LOL LOL C'est vrai: c'est une grosse connerie (thank you, I appreciate the help :D)!

Zhu, merci infiniment pour ce commentaire magnifique :D!

  17. Hi Lady A,

    "Same to you my dear."

    Thanks :D!

"LOL. I love the musical interlude. Of course, it HAD to be me. ;D"

LOL I thought you would :D! LOL LOL but of course ;D!

"What about that man who wound up in the Queen's bedroom - and no on knows how he got there?????"

I heard about that!! Isn't it odd? Perhaps one of the maids, or butlers snuck him in there, who knows?

"Yes, they are called agents! I knew someone who worked for a talent agent and everyday he would complain how his boss (a female agent) would physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually harass him. It finally got to be too much and he quit.
I think women may possibly be worse than men."

"physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually harass him"??? That is a lot of harrassment!! Shocking! It is at times like this that I begin to think that some women may very well be more vicious than men *nodding*...
She abused her employee...didn't he sue her?

"You have to see the film to witness the severity of it."

    I will, I will....

"Maybe she was manic depressive? (still crazy though)"

Maybe...or even Bipolar. Still, she should be institutionalised!

"Saint? ROFL. The stabber was never found and she still reverted back to being the Queen of Mean."

LOL yes, "saint" (there is a story behind the usage of this word: here in Portugal, it is sad that Salazar, the fascist leader, died in 1968 because someone sawed his chair and casing his fall. From that day onwards people asked "Who was the saint that did it?" implying that some did it on purpose to end fascism lol - which only ended in 1974 *nodding*)!
"The Queen of Mean" ROFL...that was a good one! LOL....

    "Definitely an uprising."

    Definitely!

    "Amen my sista!"

    Can I get a witness?

    "As is yours."

    Thank you :D!

"I have been following the stream between you and Mel and I nominate you both for President and Vice President of the US. You can decide who gets what position. Flip a coin like they usually do. LOL LOL Mel is a fantastic friend and it would be an honour to have him either as my running mate or President :D!
    Mel, do you hear this?
Quite an honour, Lady A, quite an honour...thank you so much *bowing*! We will take your suggestion into consideration (I'd have to apply for the US citizenship, make some arrangements...Hmmm...we'll see lol)!

  19. It's great to know that someone is looking out for the little guy. We tend to forget that our successes are not just because of our efforts but with the hard work and support of those around us. I love this post and I hope those who read will learn a thing or two about appreciation and humility.

  20. Max & Alexys,

I am deeply honored and on behalf of the US I humbly accept the nomination. Now we just have to figure out how to get by the fact that you (Max) were not born in the US. That does put a crimp in the plans (LOL).

  21. again, well done! :)

i'm lucky to get help here and we treat her not just a helper but as a family. although she gets paid to do the chores, my family loves her and treats her like a relative.

i also despise employers who mistreat their employees. i've seen a friend humiliate his manager in front of all of us for a very simple mistake. right that moment i felt like disappearing. i felt ashamed that he is my friend.

i saw joel's comment, lol, he is my other half ;)

    take care max, happy thursday.

  22. Max,

"I heard about that!! Isn't it odd? Perhaps one of the maids, or butlers snuck him in there, who knows?"

Apparently he climbed through a window. Was the Royal Guard asleep when it happened or did he slip them a few lagers?

"That is a lot of harrassment!! Shocking! It is at times like this that I begin to think that some women may very well be more vicious than men."

    You can say that again!

"She abused her employee...didn't he sue her?"

He just wanted to get out of there ASAP! He changed employers and that one (a man) was worse. One aspect of his job was to find gay men who didn't mind being hit on by their boss. Strange isn't it? He quit that one too. Now he is a teacher.

"Maybe...or even Bipolar. Still, she should be institutionalised!"

She is no longer with us. She currently resides in Hotel Hell where she is reviewing her life to try and get the next one right. She may even be forced to be a servant to others? God knows?

"LOL yes, "saint" (there is a story behind the usage of this word: here in Portugal, it is sad that Salazar, the fascist leader, died in 1968 because someone sawed his chair and casing his fall. Interesting story behind that. Thanks for the filler.

That's what the media dubbed her.

"Mel is a fantastic friend and it would be an honour to have him either as my running mate or President :D!"

So it has been written, so it shall be done!

    "Mel, do you hear this?"

    His ears are burning.

  23. Mel & Max,
Not to worry. You will both have to divorce your current spouses and marry each other. Your spouses will understand. A small price to pay for serving America. That way Max will be legal.

You will also make history as the first married couple who are President and Vice President. Your names and images will be emblazoned across the pages of millions of history books and your fame will keep you in the spotlight.

Your platform will be love, gratitude, forgiveness, compassion and personal responsibility. At first the country won't understand why you are not corrupting the government even further and burning bridges with world leaders, but you will win the people over with love.

Your foreign policy will unite all people in all nations. You will retool the military and make it an army of love. Any citizen caught not sharing love will promptly be reminded through gentle reinforcements.

Andrew Lloyd Webber will write a musical about your life and love. It will go on to win several Tony Awards, Grammy Awards and Incredible Achievement Awards.

You see, it CAN be done. I urge you to kiss your current spouses goodbye now and plan your future together. America needs you. The people need you. The world needs you.

  24. Alexys & Max,

Alexys, you are a laugh riot, you had me laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath.

Now to get serious....yes by marrying me, Max, you would be legal, however, still unable to run for President or Vice President. You see, according to the constitution you must be born in the US. So, we would first have to get a constitutional amendment passed that would allow for foreign born people to run for Pres or Vice Pres.

Oh yes, and the most importantly, our spouses just might object. Well, I'm not so sure about mine, but Max, I don't think your current husband would understand, being a newlywed and all. Maybe in a few years, when you tier of him we can think about the 2012 election........but wait, according to the Mayan calendar and Nostradamus, I believe, isn't the world suppose to go through a major transition in 2012, or merely end?

Other than that, Alexys, it is a great idea!!!!

  25. Hi Mel & Max,
Mel, oh dear, I am sorry to cause such paroxysm. I do hope you caught your breath. Take a deep breath now. Hold it to the count of three. Let it go. There. Feel better now?

Yes, I forgot that technicality. Wasn't our lovely governor (Arnold Schwarzenegger) trying to get that changed to suit his bid for the presidency?)

Hmmmm. Let's see. What if we get Max a new birth certificate? Won't that suffice?

Maybe both of your spouses can get jobs in the presidential cabinet. Whatever it is, we will work out the details.

Mel I must correct you on your Nostradamus prediction. The world has already ended, we are just dreaming - or asleep, I forget which one.

Nevertheless, I won't give up the dream of a Mel & Max ticket.

  39. Hi Max,

    :)

As Jesus provides such an awe inspiring resplendent example of leadership and servanthood He is an inescapable example to center upon on such a topic. He epitomizes both great leadership and being a great servant even if people reject His truth claims.

Yet since you would it seems prefer a more secular response one that does not consider Jesus let me try this….

I see no reason at all why survival of the fittest should not rule the day. Might makes right whether it is slavery and rampant conquest and anarchy or any other system. There is no standard of right and wrong if we discount God. There would be no constraint upon what actions a person or group may take to impose their will upon another.

The United States Revolution was based largely upon an “appeal to Heaven” a standard endowed by the Creator that says all humans are equal. This provides a framework within which servants and leaders, employers and workers can work together….it may at times be slow to act in some matters as we humans grip to power but it can still change as it has a Greater structure imposed upon both the individual and the community the stronger and the weaker.

The Governance of the people and the government lays beneath the Other...

  40. Hi LS;

    " :) "

Oh my...he starts with a smile lol....may God bless you, LS :)!

"As Jesus provides such an awe inspiring resplendent example of leadership and servanthood He is an inescapable example to center upon on such a topic. He epitomizes both great leadership and being a great servant even if people reject His truth claims."

I understand, dear; I really do. And I suppose you are right: Jesus is a good example or servanthood.

"Yet since you would it seems prefer a more secular response one that does not consider Jesus let me try this…."

It is not that I prefer, it is more like I was expecting it...but since you smiled I am not sure if you will...!

"I see no reason at all why survival of the fittest should not rule the day. Might makes right whether it is slavery and rampant conquest and anarchy or any other system. There is no standard of right and wrong if we discount God. There would be no constraint upon what actions a person or group may take to impose their will upon another."

Darling, you seem to forget that even when a person claims to discount God from his life, he still has His essence, that is why humans know (intuitively) their right from wrong.
But anyway, just because one is the fittest it doesn't give him the right to mistreat others, nor to humiliate/disrespect them. The true leader is the one who respects everyone under his command, this is pure ethics.
Would you say that ethics and God serving are inseparable?

"The United States Revolution was based largely upon an “appeal to Heaven” a standard endowed by the Creator that says all humans are equal. This provides a framework within which servants and leaders, employers and workers can work together….it may at times be slow to act in some matters as we humans grip to power but it can still change as it has a Greater structure imposed upon both the individual and the community the stronger and the weaker."

Funny you mention how the United States was based, because once you insist on bringing God to this issue you should commence by the way His chosen Nation was based (it is in the Bible, yes?)...
So, what are you saying exactly? That in order for a person to respect his help, or employee or people, he has to be supported by a "Greater Structure", otherwise he won't?

"The Governance of the people and the government lays beneath the Other..."

    Not untrue for us...

  41. Alexys, Slogbite and Max….

Ok I have now managed to make my way thru this rather convoluted conversation you three have been participating in. I am not impressed…..

You must take care when you speak of my Queen that lives in a different country…Do you want me to start picking on Oprah!

We are not in the Matrix however we are in a different dimension fortunately Someone has come to us from the other side and explained it all to us, He has shown us how to get to the other side He has done it Himself and has paid for our passage if we are willing to trust Him…Sorry I better translate in case you are caught up in CNN hysteria I am not speaking of Obama I am speaking of the Messiah Jesus…

Next anybody that gives an exact date for “the end” (like supposedly Nostradamus has) is wrong count that the world will not end that day…and no the world has not yet ended…if you think it has give me all of your money you will not miss it…

The thought of Max and Mel being married *yuck*

Next as bad as Obama and McCain are I would hardly think Mel and Max are accomplished hypnotists my friends….

The cost of painting the Whitehouse Halloween colors like Slogbite.com (or dogbite as Chocolate Girl uses to remember it) $700 billion

The cost of Max forcing everybody to do yoga and being stuck in positions so they can’t go to work $749.9 billion

The cost of Obama in the Whitehouse priceless (well my calculator broke it can’t go that high)…

    Equal time…

The cost of McCain in the Whitehouse priceless (as many unfortunates commit suicide from hearing him say “my friends” on loop)…

The thought of Max and Mel being in the Whitehouse *yuck* they wouldn’t have time to blog then!!!!!

  48. Hi Max….

Ethics is a term packed with various dynamics such as how does it compare to morality?

To be frank I am not really overly interested in either morality or ethics as in the end I see them as bankrupt (sounds like an old Graffiti article right?). I am interested in transformation, our soul’s metamorphosis. You see I don’t think that these things come from within but from without, God touching and changing our lives…

    This is what I mean…Romans 12…..
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Let me give a practical example I am an employee, when my supervisor is not around why should I still work hard?

Morality, ethics or religion may place certain rules before me and I may choose to follow them or not. If they are simply human made rules there is no reason in an absolute sense why I should follow them they are simply human opinion….

Yet if God is transforming me then I work hard because my soul the deepest “me” will desire to work hard even when my supervisor is not around…the rules do not conform me, popular opinion does not conform me I am changed by His touch upon my life…the touch of love and grace…Now yes I still may sin but if I am a real follower of Jesus this will not be the pattern of my life it will overall be decreasing as I am transformed, I will be growing in my transformation…

LOL Well I am not saying that God has chosen the US like say Israel or the Church (of course anybody can become a Jew and anybody can follow Jesus the Messiah). I am saying that the principles the US was founded upon was an “appeal to Heaven” they carried banners around with this “motto” there were flags and their documents have arguments based on this etc…They appealed to Higher Authority and this is what I often am doing in our conversations….but it seems that we are living in Romans 1….I would prefer Romans 3 and 8….

For a better insight into salvation Israel Romans is helpful but in short you could read the book of Hebrews or Romans 11…however the greater context of Hebrews is essential..

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=52&chapter=11&version=72

Have you ever read any books on the effect of the Reformation upon work (as in employment)? Many studies show that this concept is at the core of the change of attitude towards work in many countries …

  60. Hi LS!

"Ethics is a term packed with various dynamics such as how does it compare to morality?"

Well, ethics discusses the right conduct and good life by analysing good and wron; morality may be viewed as the synonymous of ethics (since it is a code of conduct in matters of good and wrong)...

"To be frank I am not really overly interested in either morality or ethics as in the end I see them as bankrupt (sounds like an old Graffiti article right?). I am interested in transformation, our soul’s metamorphosis. You see I don’t think that these things come from within but from without, God touching and changing our lives…"

LOL that reminds me of a Graffiti hit! Anyway, ethics is not bankrupt, Men are. Men who choose to not apply ethics into their lives.
Ahhh, "Die Verwandlung" of the soul...what if one is not destined to undergo a metamorphosis of the soul? What if one destined to be ethical only? Is the second more corrupt than the first? Hmmm....
Now, how can you say that you are not interested in ethics nor morality, when they come straight from God? When we are born we know what is right and what is wrong: it is an innate knowledge.
However, you are more than willing to accept the texts written by Paul (a man).

"Let me give a practical example I am an employee, when my supervisor is not around why should I still work hard?"

Because it is your duty to work hard, and do the best you can - this is the ethics of work.

"Morality, ethics or religion may place certain rules before me and I may choose to follow them or not. If they are simply human made rules there is no reason in an absolute sense why I should follow them they are simply human opinion…."

Very interesting...than the same could be said of Paul's words...why should people mind a mere human's opinion; why should they follow the intellectual produce of that apostle? Just because it was added to the Christian Bible?

"Yet if God is transforming me then I work hard because my soul the deepest “me” will desire to work hard even when my supervisor is not around…the rules do not conform me, popular opinion does not conform me I am changed by His touch upon my life…the touch of love and grace…"

When you talk of God transforming someone: do you include Muslim, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists and Axés?

"They appealed to Higher Authority and this is what I often am doing in our conversations….but it seems that we are living in Romans 1….I would prefer Romans 3 and 8…."

Did they appeal to the High Authority or to their notion of High Authority?

No, not your gum. So sorry. I would hate for that to happen. After all, gum is meant to be chewed, not swallowed. LOL.

"Mel, Alexys will fly over to D.C. and take care of that!"

Already taken care of. Max you have been approved.

"ROFL....it would be odd if my husband were willing to let me go at this point (I know it's about serving the US and the people, but not even Britney Spears would leave her husband after a month to serve the US); so I'd agree that he wouldn't understand, no LOL LOL!"

Max, don't think of it as him letting you go, think of it as him letting you roam. He wants the best for you, he will understand. Britney Spears has been contributing to the US economy for the past three years, she is supporting millions of people with her antics. I believe that even she would leave (if she had to.) Is your duty to us or to your husband? Exactly - to us!

"ROFL....ROFL....I think it is said that the world will go through a major transition, but that is exactly why we should try in 2012 (who knows, by then we might run for the White House without having the need to get married...after Alexys works on those guys in D.C)!"

I did inquire. They said that in 2012, they were going to have a same sex couple in the white house (much to the chagrin of LS) and that this is the year of Max and Mel.

However, you are more than willing to accept the texts written by Paul (a man).

    I respond:
First I have been attempting to keep the conversation as secular as I could pertaining to our first interchange now I will go beyond that….

Humans are made in the image of God yet since the Fall we are a broken dirtied “image”. There is common grace as spoken of in Romans 1 (as part of God’s creation we can taste some of His goodness such as the Sun on our face, cool water in our mouths, petting a puppies ears that kind of thing). We also have the restraining work of the Holy Spirit in genuine God followers and at times when He touches upon history such as with His Word…

So in those ways we can taste good or you may call it ethics. I tend to see ethics as more personal and popular choices in what is right and wrong. For example society does make massive shifts in ethics on things like gay issues yet God has not changed…You know that I am not picking on that one particular sin as I am also a sinner it is just a prime example.

If as you say children born with a knowledge of right and wrong then they are not innocents. If one were to strike or murder another they should be treated just like adults. Indeed they are innocents and they also have a proclivity towards sin like we all do. Children will knock each other down in the playground even if they have never seen an adult do it.

Morality and ethics are simply decorations they cannot transform, they may hide the ugly sin beneath but it is still there.

I do receive the entire Bible New Testament and Old as being from God and I believe it is reasonable to do so plus you know I will be launching a new series on this very topic very soon…

    Our conversation…
LS: "Let me give a practical example I am an employee, when my supervisor is not around why should I still work hard?"
MAX: Because it is your duty to work hard, and do the best you can - this is the ethics of work.

    I respond:
If it is not form God then you are just expressing opinion that you have no right to shove on others if they choose to be lazy….

    You said:
Very interesting...than the same could be said of Paul's words...why should people mind a mere human's opinion; why should they follow the intellectual produce of that apostle? Just because it was added to the Christian Bible?

    I respond:
If the Bible is not from God then it is survival of the fittest, kill or be killed, all bets are off do whatever you want…there is no good there is no evil….However I believe it is reasonable to trust that the Bible is from God….

    You said:
When you talk of God transforming someone: do you include Muslim, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists and Axés?

    I respond:
God offers transformation to everybody thru Jesus alone….the rest (including atheists) are all playing at the same thing religion, self help, ethics and rules, popular opinion, individual choice….

    You said:
Did they appeal to the High Authority or to their notion of High Authority?

    I respond:
    Wait till this Sunday….

I know, I know, according to Obama, a President must learn to multi-task.....I'm trying, I'm trying.

    I have an idea.........

Alexys - You will be our Press Secretary and Secretary of State. You know how to spin a good yarn and no one can say "no" to you.

LS - You can be our Secretary of Defense, and we will create a new position called the Secretary of Moral Superiority. I don't think that this needs any explanation (smirk with eye brows raised.)

    Talk about a dysfunctional family!!!

I am interested in merit, what they have accomplished in work in education, in life, their ideas, their character and their leadership (in no particular order)…

My current Member of Parliament that I have now voted for three straight times is an East Indian Canadian (we would say IndoCandian) female.

However I do not support same sex marriage….we have had it in British Columbia now for several years…

McCain is not as pretty as Chelsea Clinton….

    Your suggestions….

…and no I am not saying this because she doesn’t visit my blogs and leave nice comments…. :)

Now about me…LOL…well the stereo type persists…Mel my friend if you have followed the conversation between Max and myself you will see that I actually think human morality is not the way to go, that it is bankrupt as is religion…I believe in transformation of me by God from within…It is not about self help thinking positive or following rules or religion…

She will have a glorious life in Miami, Florida in her early years, then she will move to Malibu California in her latter years. I am looking at the blueprint now. Max will have a fabulous life full of love and honor and a couple of sweet surprises.

LOL LOL say what? You so did not keep the conversation secular, I even suspect you don't recall what it is like to be secular, LS LOL *nodding*!

"Humans are made in the image of God yet since the Fall we are a broken dirtied “image”."

I don't agree that we are a "broken dirtied image". Our body is imperfect, yes; but our spirit (made in His image) is not. Now, our soul may, or not, be influenced by the imperfection of the body, but still it has ethics/morality carved on it. I have given a lot of thought to this Fallen nature theory, and I don't accept it (for the reasons given in your blog).

"We also have the restraining work of the Holy Spirit in genuine God followers and at times when He touches upon history such as with His Word…"

"genuine God followers"? You mean genuine Jesus followers? Not the same...

"For example society does make massive shifts in ethics on things like gay issues yet God has not changed…You know that I am not picking on that one particular sin as I am also a sinner it is just a prime example."

Ethics doesn't shift. The choice to abide to ethics shifts. It is ethical to treat gay people as the human beings that they are, and thank God society decided to act the right way, to do good.
Hashem commanded us to love others the same way we love ourselves, he didn't say "except gays, prostitutes, adulterers etc"; and Jesus repeated this in the NT (and he didn't say "except gays, prostitutes, adulterers etc" either).

"If as you say children born with a knowledge of right and wrong then they are not innocents."

I never said kids were innocent, because I believe in reincarnation...remember?

"Children will knock each other down in the playground even if they have never seen an adult do it."

You are supporting my thesis: ethics (analysis of good and wrong) is engraved in our soul. Children know that knocking others down is wrong, but why do they do it? What is the root of the action (not taught by an adult)?
Existence is not a straight line, as you know so well....nevertheless, we all know what is right and wrong from birth.

"Morality and ethics are simply decorations they cannot transform, they may hide the ugly sin beneath but it is still there."

Transformation is an Utopia. Real Transformation only occurs once you leave your body.

"I do receive the entire Bible New Testament and Old as being from God and I believe it is reasonable to do so plus you know I will be launching a new series on this very topic very soon…"

The New testament is more of a history book and the philosophy of a convert.

"If the Bible is not from God then it is survival of the fittest, kill or be killed, all bets are off do whatever you want…there is no good there is no evil….However I believe it is reasonable to trust that the Bible is from God…"

Oh the OT is from God, the NT is not.

ROFL...well, I am a free spirit consistent pro-life (what you do is between you and the Lord, I say).
If they treat a certain lady as intellectually inept it is because she gives that impression. I mean, she doesn't even know what newspapers she reads, and she doesn't understand the questions made to her...Hmmm...it sounds like an intellectual inept to me.
About her being pro-life...she isn't, because she says that she admits abortion in certain cases (meaning that she agrees that there are times when she'd choose when to make an abortion...I'd say she's a pro-choice, which is different than being pro-abortion).

I don't support same sex marriage (because the definition of marriage is a union between a man and a woman); however I do support Legal Unions, so that gay people are entitled to social benefits.
They are tax payers just like any of us, so why not be entitled to the same social benefits as the rest of the lot?

Denying this to them is sexual orientation discrimination, and we shall not tolerate discrimination, of any kind, in this world any longer!

    *smirk*....

"Alexys is very sweet, I like her, she does spin a good yarn but I have never bought it :)
…and no I am not saying this because she doesn’t visit my blogs and leave nice comments…. :)"

I am shocked! I hadn't seen this facette of yours yet...I expected so much more from a Jesus follower *smirk*...

"Now about me…LOL…well the stereo type persists…Mel my friend if you have followed the conversation between Max and myself you will see that I actually think human morality is not the way to go, that it is bankrupt as is religion…I believe in transformation of me by God from within…It is not about self help thinking positive or following rules or religion…"

LS...the role suits you well; and we are blessed to have you in office. However if you were about transformation you wouldn't be so prone to judgement, but prone to love and acceptance.
Judgement walks hand in hand with moral superiority (a concept that I deny).

Oooh, that is so cute "romantic at heart"!
But I do hope you are comparing me to Cleopatra's beauty (because her character was twisted)!
Halle Berry? Oh no, that lady is way more beautiful than I am, trust me!

    "But, Yoda?????"

Mel, LS is comparing me to Yoda because he recognises my power, he knows that the Force is with me...it is in that sense!

    - More truth coming out.....On this we have to disagree (I think.) I have a gay son who lives in NY with his partner. He have no intentions on getting married. But if they did, I would support them 100%

We have friends who have a gay daughter. Three weeks ago we went to her marriage. She married an LAPD officer. And I swear, half of the LA Police department were there in support, and boy, do they know how to have a good time. It was probably the nicest and most respectful wedding I have ever been to. In all good conscience, I can not deny that to the gay community.

I agree with you. And I also add that there are souls that get stuck in-between realms (the spiritual realm and the physical one), and that by itself is a torment (not be able to go back Home).

  136. Max:

Excellent post. I absolutely agree with you on all points.

I have been on both sides of the help issue, and I don't pretend to be an expert, but I think if you treat people well and with respect, it will come back to you. The opposite is true also. If you treat them badly, that will get back to you too. I worked for a company once that fired people at the drop of a hat. They called them names and humiliated people at every opportunity. It was disgusting. I spoke to the CEO about his unprofessional methods. He told me that he was the general and they were the privates. So, like the Army, they had to march to his orders. I told him that I found his position very peculiar - especially since he had never been in the military!

    Great post.

  139. Hi! You won’t get any argument out of me about treating someone as if they were less than human. Every hard working person deserves nothing but respect and a wholehearted thank you from the people they tend to.

    The Help Vs its Best

I tend to think that people that do these sorts of things see the servant as just a tool that can be muddied and put back in its rack without a thought. Perhaps it goes back to their upbringing but that’s no excuse for their poor form. As they look down on and mistreat others, they should be treated with the contempt they deserve and perhaps some pity, for they will never know what it is like to be truly loved and respected. Unfortunately I see the servant of a meanly employer hard pressed to change anything unless he or she speaks her mind. The consequences of that action compounded by the fact jobs are hard to come by, means many go on trapped within a despicable environment whilst continuing to support themselves and family. A sad state of affairs indeed!

    The Employee Vs the Employer

I’ve experienced the very same thing you have mentioned here from more than one person in authority during my working lifetime. I can tell you it has taken its toll on me both physically and mentally. Not that I’m a spent force of course, it’s just that it peeves me so much to think it was done for their entertainment, or for helping them obtain kudos from their loyal for the moment followers or for assisting them climb the so called ladder of success. This unacceptable practise is well known as ‘bastardisation’ in the workplace. I’m now reminded of the quote from someone who condoned this type of behaviour, “If you have thin skin, you don’t deserve to be here.” Sad and pathetic, isn’t it? A workplace free from this, is a productive, cohesive and a joy to work in. That, I’ve been lucky to experience too!

    The People Vs the Government

Down here we have a love and hate relationship going on with our ruling party. One minute they’re tightening the purse strings and the next minute dishing out the funds like there’s no tomorrow. But that’s politicians for you. Corruption issues are fairly well monitored here and any issues relating to that are dealt with harshly. Not harsh enough for some mind you, but you can’t please everyone. As for the current climate financial woes here and around the world, it is very perplexing to find politicians here giving themselves pay rises way beyond what would be considered justifiable when we’re struggling to cope. But I have the answer to that; they live in a different world to us.

    Take Care,
    Peter
