Past Prophets announced what is to be. Fear not Me.
Said it was we are born equal. We're unequal. Deceitful.
Aim at enlightenment. Perfect your environment.
Love is pure. To keep it we must endure. Sure.
Most oppressors were oppressed. Their brain's abscessed.

Hey Maximus Poetus…
ReplyDeleteYou have rolled a lot into the recipe of this psalm! A lot of ideas are embedded and can be unloaded in various ways…very clever…I adore the structure…the fluidity has a dramatic staccato to it….
The contrast in how we both approached this subject is rather striking…
Did you consider the frequent Biblical orientation in psalms with reflections such as light and dark, sweet and sour, pride and humility etc?
Would you like to extrapolate upon your psalm with some didactic lessons?
Please do…
Hi LSus :D!
ReplyDelete"You have rolled a lot into the recipe of this psalm! A lot of ideas are embedded and can be unloaded in various ways…very clever…I adore the structure…the fluidity has a dramatic staccato to it…."
*Bowing* why thank you! Only you to detect certain nuances... :).
"The contrast in how we both approached this subject is rather striking…"
Isn't it? I must say that you have surprised me with your GOP Poem: I wasn't expecting it at all. Well done.
"Did you consider the frequent Biblical orientation in psalms with reflections such as light and dark, sweet and sour, pride and humility etc?"
I can't say that I have; although the Bible inspires me in many ways.
"Would you like to extrapolate upon your psalm with some didactic lessons? Please do…"
LOL since you ask so sweetly...*nodding*...
What is there to explain about this psalm...hmmm...ok:
"Past Prophets announced what is to be. Fear not Me" - one of the readings could be, God announced, through the prophets, what would happen in/to the world; and people should not fear Him (and His Message) in a sense that whatever He decides for us is for the best. He would never harm us (although people are prone to think otherwise).
"Said it was we were born equal. We're unequal. Deceitful" - this one is quite obvious. Although we are born equal, society doesn't treat us as such, despite the democratic and human utopia. This passage can also refer to inferior emotions such as racism, xenophobia, any kind of bigotry.
"Aim at enlightenment. Perfect your environment." - We should focus on seeking a spiritual path, on seeking our Essence. Once we do, we attain balance by accepting ourselves fully (which can only occur after full knowledge of whom we are). Upon that self-acceptance we will respect others and nature itself; thus perfecting our environment. Of course, this is one reading...there can be another ;).
"Love is pure. To keep it we must endure. Sure." - Irony is one way to look at this passage. Another form of reading it is: to attain real love one must be put up to the test and pass it (a difficult process). "Sure"...there is always a choice: to want it or not to want it, that is the question. And then we have the Love of God...not easy either.
"Most oppressors were oppressed. Their brain's abscessed" - does it make any sense to have suffered and make others suffer? No.
I hope this humble explanation struck your fancy, LSus *bowing*.
My dear friend, thank you so much for your comment: loved it :D!

Fear can be a turning point.
ReplyDeleteEquality? There's a notion that brings us sadness.
Perfect environment? That's absurd.
Real love is said to be everlasting.
Oppression is linked to malice.
Phew! This was a tough one!
PSALM: Once your cup is overflowing, praise the Lord and share the joy with your human fellows.
ReplyDeleteHey C.C :D!
ReplyDelete"Perfect environment? That's absurd."
Perfecting the environment, as in perfecting the world, is absurd to you? Are you saying that "tikkun olam" is absurd? Well...I guess depending on the interpretation of the expression it might be *shrugging*...
C.C, wonderful comment for which I thank you :D.
Cheers
