"Ethiopian Immigrants should be Grateful" She Said...

Israeli Flag (edited version of This one)

For those who think that women in power would make this world a better place: Sofa Landver has just proved you wrong.

Sofa Landver is a Minister of Immigrant Absorption. This position implies doing the utmost for the integration of Jewish Immigrants in Israel. But apparently, Minister Landver’s utmost effort to integrate immigrants (olim) is done according to the immigrants’ amount of skin melanin.

Kiryat Malakhi’s housing committees do not consider Ethiopian Jews worthy of buying their homes (even though they can afford them). Of course, this generated outrage among the Beta-Israel community (and decent Israelis in general) and so they protested against this obvious act of racism. And what was the Absorption Minister’s response to the protests? “Ethiopian Immigrants should be grateful [for what they have received from Israel]”. Israel is the one that should be thankful to Ethiopian Jews and not the other way around. Must we remind Minister Landver the Purpose behind Operation MosesOperation Joshua and Operation Solomon? When these rescue operations occurred, Ms Landver was old enough to make a proper use of her grey cells.

Ethiopian Jews (Beta Israel) are mostly descendants of the House of Judah and there may very well be descendants of the House of Menelik (the son of King Solomon and Queen Sheba) somewhere among them and, I can only imagine what these might be thinking right now.

Does it make sense at all for certain Jews to be racist? Given the Jewish history of persecutions throughout the ages and genocide; no, it doesn’t. Racism in the heart of Israel is unacceptable, shameful, hypocritical, immoral and, mostly, amoral.

Before moving on, I have one question: did Hitler spare the blue-eyed-blond Jews in Germany and Eastern Europe?

Make no mistake: when evil comes after the Jewish People it doesn’t discriminate and, it is only then when certain Jewish fools realise that, regardless the colour of the skin, the Chosen People is all the same.

Sofa Landver is a Russian-born and raised Jew and a member of the Yisrael Beiteinu; a hard line political party representing Soviet immigrants. Given this fact, it is easy to grasp the reaction of this fascist minister; but what I don’t quite understand is why PM Netanyahu keeps giving space to the Far Right to sabotage his tenure. Coalitions are to be respected, no doubt about that; however when these put in peril a re-election...

Racist Jews insist upon trying to show the idiots around the world (who say there is apartheid in Israel) that they are right. They also insist on giving prominent figures, like Desmond Tutu, material to side with the Palestinians – regardless of their terrorist acts.

This sort of Israelis is a liability to the Jewish State; and a menace to the security of the Jewish Diaspora.

In summa: racists have no place in Israel and reckless politicians can cost her future.

  1. Max, this is an embarrassment for Eretz Yisrael: a state that was created to harbour all Jews; a land where Jews can finally feel at home (without having to justify their customs)...a country that is being hijacked by European racists (if not American as well cause the behaviour of those housing committees remind us of those committees in the US that used to decide who'd live in their neighbourhood or building or not - according to the right kind of race).

I hope the Beta Israeli stand proud, protest against discrimination and make the Yisrael Beiteinu folks understand that Israel is their Land too and if Russians are not happy with it, they can go back to Russia then.

This article is vital because it addresses an issue of utmost importance. And yes, Sofa Landver should be sacked!

  2. Olá Max,

Shocking, absolutely shocking! Women never cease to amaze me and they say that they the symbol of kindness and generosity and loving nurture...how fooled have we been!
President Shimon Peres said the same thing as you: Israel is the one grateful to ethiopian immigrants. And I think both you and him are right. Israel, in the rescue operations you mentioned, fetched them not only to rescue them from persecution but mainly for political motives (when they got to Israel ethiopians went through a dreadful absorption process - including, conversions when most were already Jews). I sway towards political motives rather than humanitarian ones.

When WWII was over and the european jewish people began sailing towards Israel, the ashekanazim (jews from Germany) discriminated the sefar'dim (jews from south of europe and north of Africa): can you imagine? They had just been persecuted and treated like nothing and after surviving the holocaust there they were mistreating other jews and calling them savages...

PM Netanyahu needs to clean his house: ASAP! Racism has no place in Israel.

    You got guts, Max...excellent article!

  4. Hi Max,

Why do women violate other women? You would think that once a woman gets into a position of power, she would look out for her girls, but no can do.

Many women want to be the ONLY woman and often times by being the only woman, they take on misogynistic characteristics.

Politics is so cutthroat in the first place that I wouldn't ever want to be in it. If it hardens men, imagine what it does to women - it separates us instead of unites and makes our views askew.

I would like to think that certain men and women in power would make this world a better place, but I know once they get in there, it's a different ballgame altogether.

    I can still hope though.

    Great piece my dear.

    Hopeful Cheers!

  5. This could have been done/said by a man in power too! Not that it would take away the underlying racism, but it is a fallacy really that a woman in power can make this world a better place. The most powerful person in our country is a woman and she is taking our country down the tube at a rate unprecedented since our independence. Racism has not been laid at her doorstep but total ignorance of economics and diplomacy in politics have certainly been laid there. Will it then be right to say that like all women, she does not listen?

  6. Hi Ana :D!

"this is an embarrassment for Eretz Yisrael (..)"

Indeed it is an embarrassment. Funny, while discussing this matter with a friend, he asked me the same "are you sure those committees are not ran by American Jews?"...but I don't know if it is the case. I find East-European and Russian Jews more racist than any racist American. My experience with Americans and American Jews is excellent (at least so far).

"I hope the Beta Israeli stand proud, protest against discrimination and make the Yisrael Beiteinu folks understand that Israel is their Land too and if Russians are not happy with it, they can go back to Russia then."

    Agreed.

"This article is vital because it addresses an issue of utmost importance. And yes, Sofa Landver should be sacked!"

    Thank you, Ana. Absolutely.

Ana, my darling, thank you ever so much for sharing your fantastic opinion on this :D.

  7. Olá Celeste :D!

"Shocking, absolutely shocking! Women never cease to amaze me and they say that they the symbol of kindness and generosity and loving nurture...how fooled have we been!"

Indeed, indeed...basically what cases like this one tell us is that, intellectually speaking, women and men are the same thing (which is not surprising).

"President Shimon Peres said the same thing as you: Israel is the one grateful to ethiopian immigrants."

Yes, he did: http://www.haaretz.com/news/national/peres-israel-should-thank-ethiopian-immigrants-not-vice-versa-1.406905 and I commend him for it.

"And I think both you and him are right. Israel, in the rescue operations you mentioned, fetched them not only to rescue them from persecution but mainly for political motives (when they got to Israel ethiopians went through a dreadful absorption process - including, conversions when most were already Jews). I sway towards political motives rather than humanitarian ones."

I watched an Israeli movie on that subject and indeed the process of absorption was drastic. Can you imagine being a Jew and having to be in a position of being told (by your brothers) that you are not? It is terrible!
    I hear you!

"When WWII was over and the european jewish people began sailing towards Israel, the ashekanazim (jews from Germany) discriminated the sefar'dim (jews from south of europe and north of Africa): can you imagine? They had just been persecuted and treated like nothing and after surviving the holocaust there they were mistreating other jews and calling them savages..."

So I heard *nodding*. Humans have a short memory and that is what puzzles me the most about them.

"PM Netanyahu needs to clean his house: ASAP! Racism has no place in Israel."

    I agree.

    "You got guts, Max...excellent article!"

lol It's not a question of guts, it's a question of denouncing evil. Thanks!

Celeste, thank you so much for your outstanding opinion :D.

  9. Hi Lady A :D!

"You would think that once a woman gets into a position of power, she would look out for her girls, but no can do."

    You know?

"Many women want to be the ONLY woman and often times by being the only woman, they take on misogynistic characteristics."

Right? It seems like they suffer from the Queen Bee syndrome: they want the undivided attention of all males in "the room"...*nodding*.

"Politics is so cutthroat in the first place that I wouldn't ever want to be in it. If it hardens men, imagine what it does to women - it separates us instead of unites and makes our views askew."

But you are in it: politics is everywhere, we cannot escape it - politics of relationships, politics of family, politics of friendship, politics of love etc. But National politics and Administrative politics can harden people indeed.

"I would like to think that certain men and women in power would make this world a better place, but I know once they get in there, it's a different ballgame altogether."

Unfortunately, that is so true *nodding*. But luckily, there are still valuable men and women who do not get overwhelmed by power and manage to do a very good job out there.

    "I can still hope though."

Absolutely and it will bear fruits, I'm sure :D.

    "Great piece my dear."

    Thank you, my darling *bowing*.

Lady A, thank you so so much for having shared your outstanding opinion :D.

  10. Hi Rummy :D!

"This could have been done/said by a man in power too!"

True. To me, men and women are intellectually the same; they are the very same thing.

"Not that it would take away the underlying racism, but it is a fallacy really that a woman in power can make this world a better place."

    My thoughts exactly.

"The most powerful person in our country is a woman and she is taking our country down the tube at a rate unprecedented since our independence. Racism has not been laid at her doorstep but total ignorance of economics and diplomacy in politics have certainly been laid there."

I am so sorry to hear that; but again, it proves our thoughts on this issue right.

"Will it then be right to say that like all women, she does not listen?"

LOL LOL LOL LOL...well, I know men who do not listen either, so....

Rummy, thank you ever so much for having shared your thoughts with us :D.

  15. To add to your last line, in fact racists have no place in the entire world. Reading your post it just reminded me of a radio programme that I heard almost two decades back, where the topic of the discussion was, whether guys see skin colour of the girl before choosing to marry her and the way politically we would love to be caller after caller just kept on harping how they consider brains over beauty and that skin colour is the last thing they see, but we all know the reality, where in an age leave alone women's fairness creams, even companies have started marketing men's fairness creams, so the evil is spreading. Gone are the days of the tall, dark and handsome adage.

Coming to the topic, from the point of view of political angle, power as they say is sweet, so in coalition politics even if a minority or minuscule partner in terms of number can really keep the government or a country to hostage by its narrow ideals. The way I see it Governments around the world are guilty of the same crime and it is we as masses should stand up to something grossly irregular, but just repeating from my earlier post, we all love to sit back on our couches and see the drama go on and on and when it comes to racism, somewhere all of us collectively should take the blame for it or maybe something is hidden in the minds eye.

  18. Hi Kalyan :D!

"in fact racists have no place in the entire world."

    You are so right.

"Reading your post it just reminded me of a radio programme that I heard almost two decades back, where the topic of the discussion was, whether guys see skin colour of the girl before choosing to marry her and the way politically we would love to be caller after caller just kept on harping how they consider brains over beauty and that skin colour is the last thing they see, but we all know the reality, where in an age leave alone women's fairness creams, even companies have started marketing men's fairness creams, so the evil is spreading."

I agree: evil is spreading. One would think that in the 21st century people would grow out of skin colour/shade but no: they remain as immature as 50 years ago - it's so disappointing.

"Gone are the days of the tall, dark and handsome adage."

LOL LOL I loved this one...

"Coming to the topic, from the point of view of political angle, power as they say is sweet, so in coalition politics even if a minority or minuscule partner in terms of number can really keep the government or a country to hostage by its narrow ideals."

You know. One good example is Britain's coalition: Nick Clegg's party is holding the Tories hostage by his party's little ideals.

"The way I see it Governments around the world are guilty of the same crime and it is we as masses should stand up to something grossly irregular, but just repeating from my earlier post, we all love to sit back on our couches and see the drama go on and on and when it comes to racism, somewhere all of us collectively should take the blame for it or maybe something is hidden in the minds eye."

    Very well said *applauding*.

Kalyan, what a terrific comment: thank you for such delight, man! :D

    Cheers
