Lisbon, the 13th of November 2012
Dear Mr President,
I hope this missive finds you enjoying good health and high spirits. Congratulations for having been re-elected: I wish you and your administration an auspicious second term.
Please allow me to ask you to pass my regards to your speech writers: what a group of geniuses. As you know it is not easy to select the right words to best convey the message (especially in politics, a field demanding supple rigour) and they do it so admirably well. Not enough limelight is granted to speech writers. I would also like to express my utmost admiration for your Campaign Team: they are the Paradigm of Political Strategy. The Republicans never saw you coming.
To you, President Obama, I curtsy; and I do so because you managed to make me admire you and, mainly, your intelligence and intellectuality. It took me a while to comprehend who Barack Hussein Obama is (Hussein means "good" and "handsome one" so you shouldn't be afraid of using it because you are good and, if I may say so, a handsome man - although I do understand that the ignorance of many represents a impediment to this); but once I sat and started to analyse you I realised how honourable a human being you are. As a politician, you proved that politics doesn't have to be dirty and that it doesn't have to be corrupt. You showed the world what a politician is supposed to do: to serve the people, not himself. You revealed your grandeur. I take my hat off to you for that, sir.
I beseech you not to feel tempted to think that I am flattering you because I am not (I detest flattery since it is the tool of dissimulators and traitors). I am simply a former Obama-sceptic who saw the light. What led me to see the light, you ask? The First Presidential Debate. The whole world felt disappointed and feared an electoral defeat; however all I saw that night was a strategist; a cold blood focused strategist: Fiat Lux!
Many criticise you for not schmoozing. I do not schmooze either because schmoozing bears a heavy cost: corruption. A strategist needs time and space to think; a strategist shouldn't invest much time socialising and nurturing other people's ego, lest it loses focus. Many accuse you of being too cerebral - I don't understand what this means; one is never too cerebral, as far as I am concerned.
I won't take much more of your time, Mr President; but before leaving I would like to thank you for having proved that you are a Political Al Capone; and, thank you a million times more for having proved me right when I say that you are the seed of a New Political Breed.

ReplyDeleteC'est vrai que la politique vu par leurs acteurs "propres" dans leur âmes, est un espoir pour le futur.
La force de l'âme droite doit forcément trouver suffisamment d'adeptes pour que ce ne soit pas un coup d'épée dans l'eau, et pourquoi ne pas rêver et travailler à une énergie clean dans tous les domaines, il suffit de vouloir.

Là, je suis absolument d'accord avec toi.

Il faut que la droite change radicalement. Le chemin qu'elle a choisi de parcourir est non seulement démodé mais également dangereux. Et ouis, on peut bien travailler à une énergie clean dans tous le domaines, comme tu l'as bien dit; pourquoi pas? Ça va pas du tout déranger les valeurs de la droite ni de le business.

I agree: the right wing is going through a difficult period (not only in the States but around the world as well). True, the Republican message was a non-message basically. I am glad the American people made the right choice.

Belle Max, I am sorry for my absence (life has been crazy). I was plein de joie when Obama won the elections in 2008 and I was more so when he was reelected last week. I even cried tears of joy, c'est fou. I never prayed so much for a politician, but I did for Obama I confess.

It is tough for thinkers to schmooze (perhaps thinking for a living does that to people, I don't know). You keep doing your thing because you do it superbly so :D.

Well, I'm sure he would miss something, if he doesn't read this letter...indeed, although many expected, still he has proved his detractors that his first win was not a fluke and has also shown that the US folks today have become more tolerant, mature and can identify and recognize a truly globalized world!

Hello Max, I begin by complimenting you on your gracious message to my President. You conveyed my feelings with such eloquence and grace it took my breathe away. I have few envies in this world, one is the very deep admiration of talents I do not possess, and the way you are able to express your thoughts and feelings in words is one of those.
ReplyDeleteI share your admiration and optimism about the President and deep inside, I think with Hamas out of the way and Bibi restrained, a true and lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians may be brokered,and he may be just the man to pull it off. He has a profound intellect and a penchant for compromise to effectuate change in the Status Quo.
I am eternally optimistic as I sense you are also. The best is yet to come.

You are very kind, I am much obliged :).

I also believe that Hamas must be removed from the picture: it is a liability to the future state of Palestine. I am not sure, though, if Bibi needs to be restrained; he has been doing a pretty good job so far (ok, it is not perfect; but it is better than the job the previous Israeli government did). I just hope he doesn't fall into the temptation of a ground invasion. But yes, President Obama may be the man to pull it off, if he takes the right steps.
