Equality is a myth. Equality is a nefarious idealism. Equality is a fallacy and, like Medina Carreira said, those (politicians or otherwise) who preach it are trying to deceive the People.
Question: for how long will people allow themselves to be fooled by idealists?

How Orwellian of you, Max! I believe in equality and I don't think it is a fallacy! It is possible to achieve economic equality if we all renounce our ambition and share our earnings with those who make less or none at all! Open your eyes, people, don't let capitalists, like Max, fool you into thinking it's not possible when it is!

ReplyDeleteequality....well as start we are all different.
we can behave similar but in essence we are all different.
Right now i think we are all sheeps following the same average paths (unfortunetly)
even the ones that think they can costumize and put it over the paw of their agenda
...they simple can't.... but thats living.
Two distintict views (cutting much ahead...!):
HUMAN
Equality for the values (general consensus wrong vs right)
this is possible to achieve much further than it is. (for instance unnecessary wars)
people should be treated always as equal... but thats another subject.
ECONOMY
Equality for the jobs, earns, "status" bla bla bla material goods etc.
sorry (CELIA) but is uthopic.... everyone should get their reward accordingly
with effort comitment and hence result...and we all know that it simply doesnt work like that.
Living in a better world would be great for everyone .... but does the world want it??

I agree with Gallardo. We are equal under the law, in God's eyes, but we can never be equal in economic terms because some work more than others and so deserve to make more than others. It doesn't get much more simple than this.

ReplyDeleteThis is the origin of the notion of Equality ... Equality before the law, where rich and poor are on equal terms. Of course today, we will have none of this. If there is no jury, justice goes to the one who pays the lawyers the most, while the various attorneys conspire with the judge to extract the most money from all the parties. But justice goes to the one with the most money. When there is a jury, populism usually rules and justice is only about bringing up the little guy relative to the rich.
But as if Equality before the Law weren't hard enough, there are all the geniuses who are determined to implement a new expanded and improved version.
Equality is an abstract idea to pontificate about. Nothing more nothing less. In practice, it simply cannot exist. Not among human beings nor among any other creature on earth.

WOw, Lenny was quoted...sim, senhora! I do not believe in equality either: call me a bloody right winger; but hey, that's what I am! But even if I wasn't a rightist, I think I would still think the same about the issue cause like Gallardo and others said, although we are equal under the law (and Looney said it the best, with a good lawyer even this is debatable) we can never be economically equal no matter what Christian socialism may tell us! If I work 14 hours and you work 8 hours per day, you bet I will expect to earn more than you!! Quoting Rummuser "In practice, it simply cannot exist." period....
ReplyDeleteEquality. Even when you go back in time, and I mean waaayy waaayy back, equality seems to be just a word. In the time of Jesus, there were these 'priests', 'spiritual leaders' or whatever you call them that say this and that must be done or this and that must be your way of life in order to be close to God, etc. But they are just dictators who think that the rules (their rules) must be obeyed, or else.
ReplyDeleteI read the book 'The Shack' where the main character, a father, got to spent a week with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were telling him that the earth was created with vision of equality - a relationship just like a circle, no one above or below you, just all beings forming a circle (relationship). They said it is us humans who created the system called hierarchy and you will find it everywhere - at work (you have supervisors who are under the managers who are under the boss, etc), in the government system, in the street, at home, etc. The man said 'But this makes us more in order, having someone in charge'. And God/Jesus/Holy Spirit told him something like 'The what is happening with the people now? There are wars because someone thinks he is superior than the other, etc'
