It is not a secret that Europe suffers from an Socialist-Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (SOCD); only, now, that disorder may be jeopardising its security.

Europe is a puzzling continent: once a world Power, now it sees itself nearly surpassed by emergent countries (and politicians seem to be ok with it); once a stable cultural society, now it sees itself stripped of an identity (and politicians appear to be ok with it); once an impermeable safe haven, now it lives constantly under threat (due to widespread permissive socialist-leaning policies)...and Euro-authorities expect the population, in general, to be ok with it. Only, they are not.

A fortnight ago, my contributing editor sent me an interesting Stratfor article (on European Jihadists), where I could read the most interesting of thoughts:

"(...) some European authorities try hard not to disturb Muslim communities in hopes that inaction will safeguard Europe against attacks by radicalized Islamists."

This is how Americans, and many others, see Europe when it comes to dealing with Radical Islam and Jihad. The European continent has a problem, one that should be acknowledged in order to be able to solve the issue once and for all. But since the current European policy seems to focus more on appeasing certain layers of society, Euro-authorities are unwittingly awakening a 100-year-old Beast: the Far Right.

Right Wing Extremists have managed to make a come back into the political arena, in recent years: Freedom Party (Austria), Flemish Interest (Belgium), Danish People's Party (Denmark), National Democratic party (Germany), Golden Dawn (Greece), Party of Freedom (Holland), British National Party with ties to EDL - English Defence League - movement (the UK) and the National Front (France). These parties can be considered Symbiotic Political Organisations, in a sense that despite being a legitimate political entity, they also support Right Wing Extremist Groups (that, in plain language, when convenient do the dirty jobs for them).

The mentioned groups play with popular discontentment: high unemployment rates, political corruption, perversion of European values, euro-scepticism, permissive immigrations laws, threats to homeland security and the perceived weakness of national security forces. People do not feel safe (in any level); the current European political establishment does not seem capable of dealing with the elephant in the room and far right organisations will use those facts to their benefit.

The tactics employed by the various far right aggregations will differ. Some prepared lone wolf terror operations (without claiming responsibility for such acts - a behaviour now copycatted by radical Islamist groups); others are preparing surgical attacks to specific communities across Europe; some are plotting what they perceive as counter-attacks to protect "European Sovereignty" and, others are planning to perpetrate crimes that will appear to have been carried out by minority groups and/or immigrants...

If security agencies have enough troubles controlling Jihadists operating in European territory; we can only imagine how hard it will be to control such groups - enjoying the political support of legitimate far right parties (empowered by the electorate who see them as a political alternative with viable solutions to their discontent and disappointment).

Once the Beast is pulled out of its slumber, the results of doing so are unpredictable: today, it is against Muslim immigrants and homosexuals; tomorrow, it will be against registered gays and everything non-white (including Jews, no matter how fair their skin might be).
European politicians should take heed, for history tends to repeat itself.
