Sometimes the transfer of power in the United States presents an opportunity. Not just for a reset of policies as often occurs but to also generate revenue.
We are currently witnessing this concept play out as Washington transitions from the outgoing Trump Administration to the incoming Biden Administration. During December 2020 there was copious evidence that Foreign Elements suspected that in fact change was coming to the White House and they were willing to spend to garner access.
Disclosures made to the Justice Department under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) for the month of December reveal that $1.6 Million in new Contracts were signed and that $1.5 Million in public relations deals were signed during the month. Who are those seeking access to Washington? What are their concerns? Some of the answers are surprising.
First off is the Province of Alberta in Canada. It has inked a deal with JDA Frontline Partners for a six month deal. What is the reason that the Province is taking this move? It is part owner of the Keystone XL Pipeline which the incoming Biden Administration has vowed to block from moving forward. Interesting potential crisis risk with Ottawa which many are overlooking.
Another major mover in the last month is Haiti. The Country's new Ambassador has signed a deal with the Latin American Advisory Group for a year and for a relatively cheap 96K. The United States remains the largest provider of Aid to the impoverished country and there are concerns among many in Washington over long delayed elections.
A disgraced Bulgarian Tycoon is also reaching out to K St to polish his image. Delyan Peevski who is facing legal action not only in the US Court System but also from aggrieved business owners back in Bulgaria has a firm that represents him called Avoria Consult. This entity has retained BGR Governmental Affairs.
After the successful efforts by Armenian Lobbyists to target the Turkish links on K St it appears that most Turkish Government accounts will be handled by the firm Capitol Counsel.
Another point of interest is that Saudi Arabia has been making inroads into the heartland. It has retained the services of Wisconsin based Arena Strategy Group. It should also be noted that the founder of this group Mark Graul is also subcontracted with the Iowa based LS2 Group doing work on behalf of the Saudi Embassy here in Washington.
These are just some of the examples of the wheeling and dealing involving K St.

ReplyDeleteHi Max: Yes, some big changes are coming to the old US. The Democrats have the high ground. I wish Biden would not have moved so quickly with signing his Executive Orders. All new presidents have done it, I know, but I wish he would have made it a bipartisan effort. I support the Keystone pipeline. We still need fossil fuels. I also support Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which directly effects my financial welfare. It will be interesting to see how things play out over the next four years. In two years we vote for Congress. He could still lose the Senate.
Nice to see that you are still online.
This is not Max's work but I do miss her too...
