Iran Deal: The Power of Influence - Money vs Reason

Reports say President Obama suggested “Netanyahu's 'interference' in US affairs is 'unprecedented' for a foreign leader” but, before proceeding with the main theme,  a question should be asked: how about President Obama's unprecedented interference in African affairs by trying to push the gay issue on them? 
The Iranian Deal is admittedly a risky move but publicly throwing Israel under the bus is a much riskier one.

Some influential people, in America and beyond, are perplexed about Bibi Netanyahu's ability to influence the US political class without resorting to obsolete tactics, in practise for the past 25 years or so. Those individuals do not seem to understand that in the 21st century the world is shedding old skins and Reason is starting to be the most valuable currency.

Influence by Pecuniary Means

More plainly: bought influence. This is what Arab nations, Iranians and the Chinese do in America. They influence national politics by buying politicians; by buying media silence or attacks; by buying voters; by putting the money to create movements to make noise and alter public opinion; by investing in companies and banks to change the rules; by putting money in colleges to alter the academic discourse and quell criticism; by putting money in think-tanks for them to produce reports that suit their needs; pay scholarships to mould future leaders who will serve their interests and future operatives who will spy for them etc etc.
The precedence is present in several examples (Here, Here, Here and Here) and this sort of influence is usually damaging to any country's national interests and sovereignty.

Influence by Blackmail & Public Humiliation

When individuals or entities pay prostitutes to lure politicians and put them in impossible situations that eventually make them follow external orders; when certain elements get paid to sleep with powerful people and retain DNA evidence as proof to blackmail them into doing what the interested parties want; when money generates a compromising situation that is later on made public as retaliation for inconvenient decisions etc etc.

Even for this there is precedence, and this kind of influence is an assault to institutional integrity.

Influence by Reason

This kind of influence is more sophisticated and inspirational due to the influencer's knowledge, ability to present sound arguments, patience and wide support network. One starts by building a closed circle of influential friends, who have a network of connections. These amis respect the opinion of the influencer who - in spite of his imperfections - makes sense and has given evidence of his wisdom, understanding, skill and/or ability to deliver. In other words, the influencer is reliable whom people are willing to listen and follow.

This is the case with PM Netanyahu: he's known in America, deemed reliable and people are willing to listen to him and follow his lead. And perhaps this 'unprecedented' power is what's shocking President Obama's entourage, who are ill-advising the Commander-in-Chief to be aggressive towards a synecdoche of Survival.

Influence by Reason involves making a case without disrespecting a country's sovereignty, because the allies' national interests are always taken into account.

Conclusion

The Obama Administration doesn't need to keep bringing Israel up to sell the Iranian Deal. That bad strategy not only diverts the attention from their goal (unless the diversion is the intended objective) but mainly reveals the intellectual depreciation that a once dynamic and brilliant administration has been gradually suffering since re-election.

The US president is an intelligent man who, thank G-d, knows how to speak English. This being said, his above quoted statement is so badly phrased that we are to assume there's a veiled message to Israel: friendly or aggressive? That remains to be seen.
