Training for Jedi Knight Types Lesson 2: The Purpose of These Lectures on Training Body and Mind

Chapter I

By Stephen Cheney

This series of lessons/ lectures is not for everyone. It is for the warriors of the future. It is for those whose minds and inspirations are in the vein of Jedi Knight Types. Similar to Samurai warriors and Ninja stealth agents. The Star Wars philosophies and warrior code and training came from martial arts teachings and other esoteric ways; and that is what you will find here.

A Jedi Knight Type does not wander around using a laser sword all the time. A Jedi fights with mind first, then with manipulations, and only lastly uses body and force.

Using force always exposes oneself and arouses counter forces. A Jedi is stealth, and acts without being known. Whenever force is used it changes the circumstances into physical collisions. When acting without being known, without known forces, there are no such arousals and exposed consequences. A Jedi, like a Ninja, prefers to act unseen.

All battles involve battles of the mind. Machines and weapons are inert things and it takes a mind to direct and move them into activation. If you are in conflict with your boss, it is a mind battle; if you argue with anyone, it is a mind battle. The general in the field must direct vast forces and his plans clash with the opposing general’s plans, thus great battles are also battles of mind on mind. The use of physical force is only an end product of a mental clash when sharp arguments become sharp knives. So, there are always two battles interlocked: The battle of mind and the battle of Force.

If you win the battle of mind, then you do not need to waste precious resources in a battle of force.

A Jedi must develop different ways of thinking, different ways to control the mind. A Jedi’s prime sabre is his/her mind. Also emotions, especially FEAR and anger cloud the mind and prevent it from working properly: mental controls need to be used to deal with this.

We have already covered one method of thinking in Lesson 1, in the comments: Awareness of Knowledge that is known; knowledge that is known to be unknown; knowledge that it is not known at all as yet; and the measuring of the source of any knowledge for validity. The questions always to be asked:

  • How did that knowledge come to be known?
  • From Whom and How does it come?

As Change is the Universal constant of all things, different pieces of knowledge may have different expiry dates, and what was sure knowledge before, may no longer be valid.

There is a special focus on children who aspire to be budding Jedi Knight types. As children promote our dreams and, in reality, children grow up to be our future. The future of the human race lies in stellar space, for this planet has limited resources and our abuse of those resources is limitless. We are all children, ever learning, and become old when we stop learning.

There would be two major tasks for a Jedi Knight Type:

  • To befriend aliens, or have to maybe fight them
  • To befriend fellow humans or maybe have to fight them.
Aliens may be found to be aggressive, but as far as humans and the millions of human victims know: it is humans who are the most aggressive creatures extant. A Jedi Knight Type is a human with higher ideals, who looks to the essence of the Universe and the Oneness that is behind all diversity, for his/her inspiration.

Training must be matched to requirements.

What are the requirements for a warrior of the type of a Jedi Knight?

To meet strange races with their strange ways, and be accepted by those who are good, and feared by those whose minds are psychologically malicious. To dare to venture into the unknown. To challenge the most dangerous evils. To extend compassion and courtesy to the good and to defeat the bad. To move amongst the enemy unseen if possible: for stealth has many combat advantages. A panther that comes out of the night.

Combat skills are obviously needed, but in each crisis combat skills may not be enough and also combat skills of the body are driven by the mind. When things go bad, a Jedi Knight type can be expected to be calm and deadly, more effective than can a nervous warrior.

From whence comes a Jedi Knight type’s mindset? From his/her mental training.

Safety is only achieved in this chaotic world by continual vigilance and continuous fighting the evil that would otherwise spread. We make a difference, especially to people whom we meet and converse deeply on what is really important in this world, love and meaning, and thus bring some needed happiness to ourselves and to others.

We are warriors, fighting for the survival and enhancement of art, of beauty, of all that is good. We are the Jedi Knight types. It is we who are the Dragons of Light fighting the Demons of Darkness, if only we merge into our own magic within ourselves and awaken the mysteries that lie dormant there.
