The Management of Truth

When we are little kids we are taught that we must tell the truth at all times, otherwise we will suffer the consequences. From that moment onwards we immediately feel the weight of continuously being truthful on our shoulders. During childhood the guilt felt after telling a lie is excruciating (in our mind it keeps playing “you’ll suffer the consequences! You’ll suffer the consequences”). Then we grow up, to become teenagers, and begin to realise the nuances of life: sometimes telling the truth can bring more problems than benefits. Yet we battle ourselves with the orders given in our childhood and with the acquired knowledge on life. What to do? We apply the learnt concept of white lie and Management of Truth 101: a teenage girl tells her parents that she’s going over to her girlfriend’s house to study...she “forgets” to mention that boys will be there with no adult supervision “Ok, you may go, honey! The Kiss

Kiss, Beijo, Bacio, Beso, Baiser, Fili (Φιλί), Kuss, Neshika (נשיקה)... A kiss is much more than just a proof of affection or a greeting sign; it is also a sign of communication that when accompanied with the proper feeling, intent or goal it transforms itself in a whole new language. This article could address the anthropological, social and scientific notion of a kiss; however the purpose for this post is to focus on the succulent details of that most wanted moment that makes people be nervous prior to the act and gives the chills down one’s back when performing that same act. Two people are together. It is not like they are particularly in love but they wish to kiss each other (they feel drawn to one another)…what will the kiss be like? Lips come together, immediately the mouth blossoms; their movable organ begins to taste each other (sometimes one of them is not that great of a kisser and so uses his tongue as a mop wiping the floor – a total mess), saliva may (or not) reach

Tonight, the first Hanukkah candle will be lit. The festival of lights is a time to reflect and be grateful. We are grateful for all the miracles in our life (in spite of those who pray for our downfall, we continue to thrive with the help of God) and we reflect about our place in this world.
