Maxiavelli: Desmond Tutu Cannot Manipulate Me

Desmond Tutu (source: biography.com)

I refuse to be manipulated by Desmond Tutu.

The former Anglican Bishop is an activist who stands up for the oppressed and fights against racism, poverty, sexism and AIDS. During his career as a humanitarian he managed to collect several prizes and awards (Nobel Peace Prize, in 1984; Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, in 1986; Pacem in Terris Award, in 1987; Sydney Peace Prize, in 1999; Gandhi Peace Prize, in 2007; and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2009); however, in 2012, he voided the meaning of those awards (i.e. world peace) when he associated himself with racist terrorists - Ahmad Abu Halabiya and Zaher Birawi, members of Hamas - who stand up for the opposite of what Mr Tutu claims to defend.

South Africa, in the past, was tarnished by the apartheid (i.e. separation of the races; prohibition of mixed marriages [it was a criminal offence to even have sexual relations with someone of a different race]; separate amenities [separate parks, beaches, bathrooms, hospital wards, restaurants, buses etc for each race]; prohibition of communism [read: opposition to government]; separate education system; divesting "people of colour" and Asians of the right to vote etc) from 1948 to 1994.
South Africa, today, is tarnished by violence; for instance: children's genitalia are used in witchcraft to bring good luck; little girls are raped to cure HIV; lesbians are raped so they can be "corrected"; and a Mozambican taxi driver can be handcuffed to a police van and be dragged to death.

Former Christian Bishop Tutu's political stance is more ambiguous than that of the average politician's: he supports Israel's right to defend herself (because it is proper to repeat this political mantra) but at the same time he propagandistically accuses Israel of exercising apartheid (because this sort of lie is what opens the doors to certain groups, conferences and awards). He fights against sexism, racism, poverty and AIDS, but we don't see him being more vocal against what is going on in his own country where racial divide continues; where 10% of the population has AIDS; where the number of little girls (between 10 and 14 years old) who get pregnant and infected with the HIV virus is increasing, by the minute, because of their relationship with "sugar daddies"; where a segment of the South African society believes they own women and children; and where a citizen on his way home is attacked with a machete because a couple of criminals want to steal the grilled chicken he just bought.

Until Desmond Tutu sets his priorities straight, I refuse to be manipulated by him.

Let's rewind a bit to a lie that Desmond Tutu created and, others unquestioningly repeat: Israel is an apartheid state...

Any informed, unbiased, human being would beg to differ: there is no apartheid in Israel, because there is no separation of races there (by the way, check Miss Israel 2013 out); in Eretz Yisrael it's not a criminal offence to have sexual relations with people of different races; there are no separate amenities in Israel (in fact, it is quite common to see Arab, black, Asian and fair skinned women giving birth next to each other in Israeli hospitals); any political ideology and party are welcome in the Jewish State (including the Arab parties that serve foreign interests despite sitting in the Knesset); and every Israeli citizen, of any colour and shape, has the right to vote (as recognised by the PA and the Arab League themselves).

Desmond Tutu and others are more than free to sympathise with the Palestinian Cause; but at least they should do it with dignity: be minimally truthful, by using facts; have the courage to admit the flawed Palestinian leadership and help Palestinians prove they can actually build a nation by making a proper use of their donated funds. Making inaccurate, inflammatory and populist remarks is not the way to help - that is, if indeed Mr Tutu is concerned with the Palestinians and not merely using them as a means of self-promotion.

For all of the above (and more), I declare that Desmond Tutu cannot manipulate me. Can he manipulate you?

  1. If I am let loose at the good Bishop, I will manipulate him Max. I may even convert him to Hinduism! He cannot manipulate me, nor have dozens of evangelical visitors to my doorstep have been able to!

  2. Desmond Tutu is a great activist and I wish more religious people were like him! His awards testify to the great job he has done over the years to protect the oppressed...do you have any award to testify the "great" work you do? I didn't think so!!! I sweat this place is becoming a zionist spot, shame on YOU Max!!!!!

    1. Hi Celia :D!

I am actually glad there are not more religioys people like him. lol Your reaction is typical of a radical and lost leftist (if you don't mind my saying so) - let me see if I get this straight; because Desmond Tutu received a plethora of awards I have to agree with everything he does, even if he is hypocritical? I don't think so, darling.

The last time I checked I lived in a free society, meaning that I am entitled to have my opinion (in this case, based on facts not emotions). You do not have to agree with me but at least respect my human right to freedom of expression - thank you very much.

Celia, thank you for your input :D.

      Cheers

    2. Celia, you always have an option: don't come back, girlfriend!
"I wish more religious people were like him!" - like what, hypocrites? No, thanks we prefer religious people to be concerned with real issues in their vicinity. They don't need the limelight!
And please control your sweat glands: pop a pills or two...you're too nervous!
      Sincerely yours,
      A Zionist

  3. He reminds me of Jessie Jackson who mournfully attended Hugo Chavez' funeral. Jesse Jackson will show up at any event that will give him media coverage, without regards to the political message he is sending. Just because someone says they are religious doesn't mean they actually follow Christian values....

    1. Hi D! :D

Jessie Jackson attended Chavez's funeral? *No comments*...
You are right, just because an individual claims to be religious it doesn't mean they follow Christian values (or any other religious value, when they belong to other belief system).

Some people will do anything to get media attention (and the awards) - no matter how hypocritical they may be or sound.

D, thank you ever so much for your comment :D.

      Cheers

  4. Huh, don't even get me started on Desmond Tutu, Max! He is hypocritical, bias, ambiguous, contradictory, fame-seeker and a manipulator of emotions! He lies about Israel (his comments even border anti-Semitism), he partners with racist terrorists, yes...but above all he does not do enough to stand up for Africa!
Yes, we see him on CNN saying "My vote, my voice" (whatever) but what is he doing for South African lesbians and little girls? Nothing, I tell you! Aaah, he makes me so mad (specially after the good job he has done after the apartheid, in Rwanda, in Ireland)...I am disappointed and no, he can't manipulate me either!

    1. Hi Ana :D!

      I agree, he is hypocritical.
That slogan is familiar but I don't recall from where. Well, two nights ago Piers Morgan had a guest, Suze Orman, who was praising South Africa's legislation towards gay-marriage: I wonder whether she knows that lesbians are subjected to "corrective rape" there?

      I understand your disappointment, darling.

Ana, thank you ever so much for your comment :D.

    2. Piers Morgan is a tosser! I don't know Suze Orman; who is she?
Desmond Tutu gained another prize of £1.1m this week: he is getting rich! Do you know what he does with the money?

    3. Ana,

LOL LOL no comments on Mr Morgan. Suze Orman: http://www.suzeorman.com/

So I heard. No I don't know what he does with his monetary prizes - I must find out about it.

  5. Olá Max,

Wow, Desmond Tutu associated himself with people who say:
"[The Jews] are the ones who must be butchered and killed"
    and
"Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them"

And this is the man who advocates for peace and fights against racism and violence?
No, I do not allow Desmond Tutu to manipulate me either!

Here is some more words from Desmond Tutu's buddies:
"We will not give up a single grain of soil of Palestine, from Haifa, and Jaffa, and Acre, and Mulabbas [Petah Tikva] and Salamah, and Majdal [Ashkelon], and all the land, and Gaza, and the West Bank" and they won't rest until they get it, as promised by Mr Hanye a few months ago.

How's that for peace, Mr Tutu? Repent, for it is not too late.

    Max: brilliant!

    Tchau

    1. Olá Celeste :D!

Yep, he actually did associate himself with this sort of people *nodding*. Like I told someone, in a different blog, I do not accept to take lessons from this gentleman because of all the things discussed here (and some more things I came across with).

Desmond Tutu needs to get his priorities straight.

Thank you, Celeste; I am glad you liked it *bowing*. And thanks for your comment :D.

      Cheers

  6. Lass, there are plenty of people who do not agree with Mr Tutu (thank God), and in the process of expressing their disagreement they can be very crude and rude. Having said this, I laud you for your class and criticism based on facts.
Desmond Tutu invalidated all his good work the day he partnered with terrorists and racists.

  7. I would think that the good bishop would have enough to keep himself occupied full time fighting Depravityism in South Africa. If you try to travel from South Africa to the Middle East, you must cross a whole series of additional messes. Where does he get the time to bother with Israel?

    1. Hi Looney :D!

Right? That is one of my points exactly: why doesn't he focus on Africa? Perhaps because it doesn't yield awards and media attention. Have you ever seen Bob Geldof winning a Nobel Peace Prize (he has been nominated, but does he actually win it)? No and if someone deserves it, it's him.
Desmond Tutu gets the time to bother with "Israel" because he is not bothering with Africa...

Looney, thank you ever so much for your comment :D.

      Cheers

  8. ha ha, after you just analysis, he dare manipulate me! Actually to me the problem is sometimes with our mind, which when get struck to a singly point agenda fail to see or fathom any reason in what we do and it is these hypocritical minds that spread the hidden divisive agenda that they most times for some personal benefit and at other times because they get blind to the oblivious. Its time they stick to their profession and do what they does best instead of meddling in affairs which make them look minuscule beings fallen from grace.
