Love is a magical feeling: it brings light into the household of darkness; it bestows upon you happiness; it softens the hardest of hearts; it melts the iciest of beings and helps us to evolve. Love ignores the boundaries of age. However, society has managed, once again, to express its bigotry, lack of sensibility; poor judgment and, foment sexism even when it comes to feelings. Who the bloody hell decided that a lady (let's say, in her 40's or more) should not be involved with young men (for example, in their 20's or 30's)? Moreover, why are they labelled as cougars or pumas when they do so? We all know that whenever a lady falls in love with a younger man, people will either say "Oh, he's after her money" or "Oh, he's seeking for adventure with a more experienced woman" or even "What a waste! So many beautiful young ladies around, and he chose to be involved with an old bad". Let's analyse these ridiculous

The 3rd Commandment

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7) I have invested a fair amount of time thinking about this commandment (specially after LS drew my attention to the fact that I was taking God’s name in vain, when commenting one of his intellectual delicatessens) and I would like to invite you to ponder upon this unusual topic… It is not uncommon to hear that God’s name is not to be taken lightly nor to be written if we know that there is the slightest chance of it being deleted or burned ( N.B : any text or book containing God’s name is to be buried). Kiss, Beijo, Bacio, Beso, Baiser, Fili (Φιλί), Kuss, Neshika (נשיקה)... A kiss is much more than just a proof of affection or a greeting sign; it is also a sign of communication that when accompanied with the proper feeling, intent or goal it transforms itself in a whole new language. This article could address the anthropological, social and scientific notion of a kiss; however the purpose for this post is to focus on the succulent details of that most wanted moment that makes people be nervous prior to the act and gives the chills down one’s back when performing that same act. Super Cities Vs Global Unification: will either replace Nation States?

Super City : a large metropolitan area comprised of, at least, 8 million people, undergoing rapid growth in population and urbanisation. A priori , this sounds a rather interesting concept, but in truth it is one that masks a series of social and economic problems; that in the long run, may reveal to be catastrophic. The first impact of mass migrations (to the megalopolis) is chaotic: usually these cities are not prepared to receive such a huge number of people, which could result in illicit “urbanisation” (ex: the “favelas” in the São Paulo metropolitan area, and the “barracas” in the Lisbon metropolitan area, during the 80’s), thus causing environmental pollution (due to poor, or no, sewage system); high rates of unemployment (since there may not be enough jobs for all) that will lead to low human development, which in turn will result in high crime rates.
