Tatiana desperately needs a job. She decides to share her concerns with a friend, who gives her a card of an employment agency.
A few days later a meeting takes place. Sonja tells Tatiana that she has the perfect job for her: babysitting the children of a Sheik. Tatiana is so happy, she can hardly believe her luck...she goes over to the church to thank God for this fantastic break – enveloped by the holy silence her being is filled with fear...the cold sprouts from her heart, spreading throughout her body...fear.
One month later, she is landing in Egypt (those were the instructions) where Katrina welcomes her with open arms...Tatiana feels like they could be friends. After a few days, Katrina introduces her to some men. One of them asks when they can test the product, “Now, if you wish” replies Katrina...the man pulls a confused Tatiana; she doesn’t understand what is going on; another one rips her clothes off, she tries to resist, another man punches her nose, she falls on the floor...these men grope her, run their filthy hands through her body and rape her one by one. She cries, she can’t believe in what is happening; she cries for God “Make them stop! Make them stop!” but they don’t...soul homicide...
Paulinho’s parents die. He is all alone in the world, thus the local authorities send him to the state orphanage. The orphanage is full, so they send Paulinho to a private orphanage (that accepts any kid that they can’t offer shelter to).
Paulinho arrives to the new place by the hand of Ms. Catarina, who tells him “These people are going to take good care of you! Make sure you smile, so that you get adopted real quickly!” Paulinho smiles.
One month later, 10 kids line up in the garden in order to welcome a group of foreign men who wish to adopt children. One of them adopts Paulinho and takes him to his country.
The sweet angel sleeps in his bed, in his room filled with toys...he never had any before. Suddenly, he feels his father next to him; touching him, doing something to him...it hurts...”Stop, dad! Stop!” but he doesn’t...it hurts...soul homicide....
Kim’s mom is talking to a man, who hands her an envelope full of money. “Kim, come here!” she obeys her mother “You go with this gentleman and do as he says!” the young lady is confused but still follows her mom’s orders.
In the car, the man tells her that she’ll work for his wife, but she should expect him to visit her at night – she doesn’t understand; but she asks if she will continue to go to school...the man laughs in scorn.
Kim works the whole day: cleaning, washing, ironing, cooking etc. Kim is humiliated all day by the Mrs.
Kim’s body is violated at night by her owner...She thinks of her mother “Why?”...she gets pregnant; rage fills her being but at the same time she loves the being inside. The baby is born, the man that owns her takes him away...she cries, she hates, it hurts...soul homicide...
I do not usually advocate death penalty, however these immoral & amoral people don’t deserve to live; for when they take advantage of innocent beings and murder their soul, they are spitting on God’s face.

I have friends who have been in similar situations. I often wonder how they were able to continue to function after being abused. But frankly, some of them are not high functioning in society. They walk in fear, unable to allow anyone to get close to them. They live in a constant state of post traumatic stress syndrome. One of my friends even has many triggers that bring back the horror to her. For example, certain colors remind her of the rooms in which she was abused. One of her abusers played a certain music constantly. When she hears it, she shudders. She cannot allow people close to her, for fear she will be hurt again. Abusers have no idea the depth of the damage they inflict.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading these stories I needed to reflect for a while. I have four comments:
First.....these horrific acts are happening every day in all parts of the world. We don't think much about them because we are removed, and unlike your stories, they have no names, therefore they are faceless and so we can go on with our own lives. It is when they have a name and face that we feel, and hopefully act.
Second.....since you are a believer in reincarnation and Karma (am I right on karma?) do you believe that these souls, were the the perpetrators in a former life, and this is Karminian (I just made that word up) justice?
Third......I don't feel that this is soul homicide, since the soul is for ever. I believe that this is just one more experience, that for some reason, this particular soul has suffered.
Fourth.....Getting back to your point, in the here and now, I think that the soul, in this life, has been irreparably damaged. The death penalty for the ones committing these acts would make us feel better, but we are dealing on two very different plains: here-and-now/life, and spiritual/cosmic/Karminian.
Very thought provoking. Another winner.

I wonder that too, D! From what I have read and heard, abused people die from inside; althoug living they are dead.

That is what happens to victims!
I makes me sick to my stomach that someone who is supposed to be human, makes a human being go through this...it's unacceptable!
Abusers thrive on hurting others, on damaging their head and soul forever...*nodding*...

You see I am, in some form or another, just like all three stories told here.
Please forgive me it is very difficult even now to at age 51 to write and bring up the past.
I was abandoned by my mother who stole me from my father. My adoptive parents were alcoholics and my father brutally abused myself and my mother my entire child hood.
I was raped at age 13 by a man 30 years older than myself.
No one would help me...not even my parents and I wanted my baby. So I was forced to marry my abuser. my first child was born to me 2 weeks after my 14th birthday. My 2nd came along when I was 16.
He continued to abuse me and our children for years after I divorced at age 18.
While married to him he was terribly cruel. I cannot discuss the things he did to me but they were horrible.
When I divorced once again no help from my parents and also no help form the state. I worked some times around the clock just to pay the rent in a roach infested government project.
At 18 my girls were 3 and 18 months old. But, we have managed to not only survive but rise above.
My husband now of 26 years put an end to the harassment of my ex. And took my girls in to raise as his own.
One now is on tenure track at a very prestigious University and the other is an RN. She works as charge on her shift at the 2nd largest ER in her state.
I myself got my GED and studied art and sociology.
As for the death penalty why should they get off so easy? When we the victims have our entire life to live with the memories and cope with the trauma.
No they should not be given that release. They should sit in a jail cell and rot for the remaining days of their lives.
Death is way too good for them.
And as to the soul. Mine is more the better for my experiences. I am kinder, more generous and loving, and, most of all very able to identify and offer comfort to others who have suffered in these ways.
I can't go on any longer. It's called PTSD...you see I will never ever truly be released until my death.
So why should these horrible monsters be given that gift?
I must go now Max. I hope in reading and hearing just a little of my story maybe you or someone else will know that you can get on with it and live a happy and successful life.

True. That is why I wanted to name these victims, so that we could feel and act somehow.
I have read some terrible testimonies, and watched documentaries that nearly made me regurgitate. I don't have any illusions about humans beings, however it is hard to digest the amount of evil they are capable of.

Yes, you are right on Karma. Well, some mystics (and spiritists) defend that these souls were perpetrators in past lives, and now are being subject to Karmic justice ex aequo; but I don't see it that way because it doesn't make 100% sense (things aren't that linear).
Reincarnation serves for us to evolve, to learn things...if we come back to exert on others (ex aequo) what was done to us once, then what kind of evolution is the human species to experience?

I meant soul homicide in a sense that, victims of these abhorrent acts die inside. Even though they may survive, physically speaking, they are dead within.
You may be right, there may be a reason for this person to undergo such experiences, but we can not take this theory to just ignore what is going on...if we are here to evolve, then the next step is to end this loathsome and vicious acts. We are bound to experience pain, as earthly beings, but this kind of pain is dispensable...

Absolutely.
But God commanded us to kill those who would rape women...thus, technically there wouldn't exist a Karmic settlement if rapists (of people), proven rapists, would be killed.

1) On one side, and this is a recent view of mine, I am leaning towards anti-death penalty. I don't believe that it is moral to take a life, no matter what.
2) On the opposite side, I think the evil doer should receive the same punishment that he dished out.....and exact eye for an eye concept.
As Shinade pointed out, death is too good for him.....it is the easy way out.
In other words, I am totally conflicted on the this point.
Somehow, I don't think this post will elicit the playful banter that you, me, Alexys and LS have done in the past.

I respect your position. I live in a Union where death penalty doesn't exist, and life sentences are scarce...meaning that most of these criminals, when caught, don't stay incarcerated for long and when released they will commit the same crime over and over again. We could ask ourselves if whether this is moral...

Prisoners rape men all the time. In fact, most of the media makes a joke of it. It disgusts me to hear of such cruelty. As far as I am concerned, if you are going to traffic in human suffering, death is too good. I agree with you 100% on this issue.

This post leaves a huge lump in my throat and a hole in my heart. It saddens me to think that these acts continue to this day. To know that some people are victims of such atrocious acts upon their Soul is really awful. I also believe that the Soul can survive anything. A perpetrator my be able to inflict physical, mental and emotional harm on another, but they can never take away the Soul of another. They cannot sever one's connection with God.
Did you hear about the Austrian man who imprisoned his daughter in a dungeon in his house (unbeknownst to his wife) and fathered 7 children with the daughter?
The dungeon was so small that the older ones had to watch as his father delivered his daughter’s subsequent children. The dungeon also contained one padded room, its walls and floor covered in rubber. He kept this secret for 25 years!
Then he would leave his newborn on his front steps (supposedly from the daughter who has "disappeared") and his wife would raise them. She finally convinced her father to release her when one of the children got ill.

In California, we spend about $15,000) to keep the prisoner alive, fatten them up and kill them.
I also agree with Mel on the reincarnation aspect.

These are terrible stories.. and human trafficking is in the news right now since apparently Joran van der Sloot, the Natalee Holloway suspect, has been caught in a sting operation.

It is sad, but unfortunately this is more common than we think *nodding*! So true, rape in prision facilities is also sadly common; and it is distasteful that the media would make a joke out of such a serious matter.

Indeed, it is awful! This type of acts nearly obliterates any romantic view one might have in regards to humans...it's sad *nodding*.

I agree that no one can sever the connection with God (thank God for that).
However, what you experience on earth stays in your memory even after death...now, imagine the effects of this memory in the next life (even if that soul won't act the same way, which not always does; the scars left on it will influence its behaviour and demeanour for lives to come, thus having a huge influence on Karma burning - then we have the following the question: is it these people's right to interfere with other's (d)evolutionary path?)...

Yes! And did you hear about the man who had kidnapped an eight years old girl (coming from school) and kept & abused her in a basement for 10 years (also in Austria)? She was released at the beginning of this year...terrible! The man was killed, and yet she felt sorry for her kidnapper/abuser (stockholm syndrome).

I live in Canada and we have no death penalty. I am in favor of the death penalty for some cases all of which involve murder….I would support the death penalty for murder if the evidence is strongly compelling, in to many instances the evidence is insufficient to warrant the death penalty and I believe we should go to extra ordinary lengths to prove guilt for this kind of penalty as it is an irrecoverable punishment…and we must be wary of abuse of this kind of thing by the state…
However I strongly support much more substantial punishments for the kinds of crimes you spoke of…as I am not aware of all the different penalties in regards to these kinds of things in other nations I can only speak of that within Canada…

It is indeed a very sad theme; but it is necessary that we address it.
Ok, I knew that this type of "business" generated billions of dollars; but I didn't know that San Francisco was "the largest commercial centre". San Francisco is known for being "sexually liberated", isn't it? But forcing people to trade sex is too much, it is immoral.
This is such a sad affair; and like San Francisco Mayor, I too feel sick to my stomach because of this kind of amoral business *nodding*.

As I say in the article, I don't advocate death penalty...but I am beginning to give some serious thought to it. I understand where you are coming from with this and, it makes sense for extremely hideous crimes; but like I said, I am still in the process of thinking about it...

I can tell you that, presently here in Portugal, this kind of crimes is punished with 5 to 9 years of incarceration - it is not enough. We don't have life sentences either (maximum sentence is 25 years - and even so, it is not enough for this kind of crime; for when these criminals leave jail, they will repeat the crime at some point).
It was a huge coincidence that I posted this theme this week, since Portugal is having a debate on it today. And I heard some of my countrymen speaking...they were parents saying that if someone ever touched one of his kids they would kill them with their bear hands if the state wouldn't. They were calling for death penalty to be instated in Portugal...
Of course, this is an issue that raises emotions, so...I think the state should start by creating laws that would severely punish this type of crime (because they are nearly inexistent) and then think about other drastic options.
But I say: zero tolerance to sexual trafficking, rape, paedophilia....zero tolerance!

No, I don't think that his behaviour is similar to what I have described in my article, because the lady was not forced to maintain a sexual relationship with the mayor. It was consented.
But it could lie within the field of abuse of power; since he is the mayor and she was a mere appointment's secretary *shrugging*...

However, there is a blog that I come across often. It is the diary of a woman's struggle having lived with a sexually abusive father, a miscarriage at 14 and an abortion at 17. It is the most shocking blog that I've seen, in that it so clearly shows her terrible sufferings as she goes through treatment. She is an artist and therefore fill her blog with pictures that hide nothing of her emotions. I have never bookmarked this blog, yet I look for it when dropping my EC's.
I believe that possibly I've never bookmarked it because I don't want to see the sufferings caused to a child, by another human being, yet I do want to see it. It pulls me two ways. I don't want to see it, yet I must see it.
Regarding the punishment for these people. This particular woman says that there is no punishment imaginable that could be punishment enough! I think I agree.
Unfortunately, stories like the ones here happen right now as we speak. Canada recently launched a campaign to help foreign nannies and housework help because a lot of them come from poor countries, under a specific visa, and can be abused easily since they don't know their rights.

I think it has spread all over the globe, girl! Early this month, our Judiciary police caught 6 people who shipped Brazilian young ladies to Portugal, took away their passaport on arrival; and then locked them in houses where the clients would go to "serve themselves"...dégueulasse *nodding*!

This is a real moral problem and i think unfortunately never can be solved. But the worst thing is some immoral people (i even don't wanna refer them as "person") attempt to invade children in their 10s.

I do like in these types of cases slogbite's idea of an eye for an eye, the death penalty is too good for them, why should they get an out when they leave the victims and their families with scars that will last them their lifetime.
The whole sad and tragic part about cases like these is that they are happening in real life as I type this comment, so sad, we are a fallen bunch aren't we?
I am pro-death penalty. That's why I felt sad when our president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, 'gifted' Pope Benedict with the paper saying that she junked death penalty in our country :(

It is usually perpetrated on victims by members of organized crime syndicates or close members of the family as we have seen recently in Austria.
ReplyDeleteGoing on the mistakes made in the American Justice System and elsewhere, capital punishment is fraught with danger as innocents surely have died in the past.
Anyway, when would we stop at the killing of these hell bound deviates? Granted the ones that carry out these brutish acts must be punished, but would we also have the same done to the family member and or the friend/s of the victim who have led them into this or the ones that turn a blind eye knowing full well what's going on; perhaps we should.
They're all just as guilty as the men that you speak of.
For me, leaving them to rot in some prison for the terms of their natural lives is a far better course of action. Eye for an eye has never worked as we have seen happen through the ages.
Now that I’ve said all of this, I have an odd feeling that the logic behind it would dissipate if I or someone close to me suffered the same fate as the ones mentioned in your post.

In Canada we have had some people convicted of murder and given life (which is 25 years in Canada and is in my view a travesty of justice in its brevity) and then it has come to light that they are innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt and have actually been released from custody…Yet if we had the death penalty they would have been dead…On the other hand we have people convicted of multiple murders the evidence proves it and witnesses testify to it they have actually confessed and bragged about the murders and in some cases the murders are even on video yet they only get life (25 years) however if they are declared a dangerous offender then their release is not automatic it is reviewed as faint hope…but the families and communities have to continually have to fight to keep them incarcerated every time the faint hope comes to review…another travesty of justice…

One of the major problems with the Canadian justice system is that judges do not view prison as punishment they view it as rehabilitation…I believe that it should be both…(if a person is going to be allowed re-entry into society some attempt must be made to limit the possibility of re-offence beyond punishment which is just) also in my opinion mitigating personal circumstances is far to often used to decrease penalties…so for example if you are an aboriginal person there is an automatic decrease in many lengths of incarceration…
I think only capital crimes should receive capital punishment that would include murder and war crimes leading to murder…as highly offensive and deplorable as other crimes are the taking of innocent human life is the worst…

ReplyDeleteI just had to give my opinion here. I agree with LS in that prison should be both rehabilitation and punishment. In fact I would like to see prisons being self sustaining......Meaning that prisoners should be busy working, making things, that the prison should get paid for. Once they are making enough to actually pay for their incarceration, the rest should go to the victims.
And who knows, they may even learn a skill (the rehab part.)
I would also like to see "truth in sentencing". Life behind bars means LIFE BEHIND BARS. I used to be an advocate for the death penalty, but I am moving away from that position. If there is even the slightest chance that a convicted felon might be innocent, the taking of his life would be an absolute travesty.

Justice is not perfect....*nodding*...since it was designed by imperfect beings.

I have heard of cases such as these, you describe, and it is just awful!
I know that in some Asian countries, the death penalty is almost automatic, almost...but I don't think that on this side it is that rapid...I have heard of cases where prisioners spend years on the death row, and in the process their sentence may or may not be reversed.

The Canadian examples are always interesting. Why do aboriginal have an automatic decrease in the length of incarceration?

Many would argue that there is no difference between murder and killing in a war scenario.
I don't forgive rape crimes, period. Rape is far worse than killing somebody.

I agree with you: prisons should be self-sustained. Here in Portugal, the state pays for everything...people even joke that when somebody is incarcerated he/she is going on vacations *nodding*....but some political parties are trying to change that, and make prisioners work (I even think that one politician said "if they are on vacation, let them pay for it themselves!")...

ReplyDeleteNeither my husband nor I wear our weddding bands for the simple reason that they are so uncomfortable! We bought them long ago. They're wide, and even with re-sizing, will always be a bit unwieldy. So we just go without them.
