Greetings of the Season!

Merry Hannukah!

"17. Blessed in every way be our God, who has brought judgment upon those who have behaved impiously.
18. Since on the twenty-fifth day of Kislev we shall celebrate the purification of the temple, we thought it necessary to notify you, in order that you also may celebrate the feast of booths and the feast of the fire given when Nehemiah, who built the temple and the altar, offered sacrifices.
19. For when our fathers were being led captive to Persia [i.e., Babylonia], the pious priests of that time took some of the fire of the altar and secretly hid it in the hollow of a dry cistern, where they took such precautions that the place was unknown to any one." (2 Maccabees 1: 17-19)

Blessed be the Lord, Who has performed the miracle of the oil. Blessed be, the Holy One, Who keeps performing miracles to this day.
Every time a couple falls in love and unites forever, another miracle has been executed.
Every time a child is born, a miracle has been done.
Every time a kid smiles, laughs and plays, a miracle is occurring.
Every time an ancient person reaches the end of the line, having thus fulfilled its mission; by God; a miracle has been concluded.
Blessed be the Lord, our God, the God of our forefathers, Who created the miracle of life; Who made a covenant with Abraham; Who has kept His Holy Word.

Hannukah Sameach!

Merry Christmas!

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,” (Matthew 2:1)
“After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.” (Matthew 2:11-12)

This is the time when the Christian world celebrates the birth of Jesus.
It’s a time to remind people of this season’s true essence: love, compassion, solidarity.
Yes, these qualities should exude from the hearts of men all year round, however some believe that during Christmas a miracle is performed: those who were less good during the year, feel compelled to love, to show compassion and solidarity towards others. And it is even believed that the Spirit of Christmas invades all hearts (regardless their religious background)…
This is also a time to recall the great example Jesus was: love for God, for Humanity; sense of duty and responsibility.

Regardless you being Jewish or Christian, you can’t deny that this time of the year is enveloped by the aura of miracles.
So enjoy it with your family, friends, neighbours, your pet, whomever you choose...but allow yourself to feel the miracle of love, life and friendship.

I wish you all, Happy Festivities!

  1. What a wonderful holiday post, Max! It's so good to be reminded of the season's true meaning. We often adulterate it with our commercialism.

And of course, you are to be congratulated for being inclusive. That's one of the things that makes you a very special human being!

I wish you every blessing, my dear Max!

  3. Thank you Max! I am not Jewish, but I loved reading about Hannukah! In America we have one more cultural celebration that is called Kwanzaa. I don't know if BaHai have any celebrations this time of year or not. Happy Holidays to you too! I'm not sure if you celebrate any this time of year, but even if you don't, it's fun to enjoy the magic of these other celebrations. :) Hugs!

I believe the Christ was sent to Save humankind hence the term CHRISTmas but it is also a time when through Christmas people may have a little more compassion and goodwill towards others, too bad materialism has to get in the way. With the crazy cold temps here I'm happy to be celebrating something to get my mind off the sucky weather, lol.
